Hi - I just registered, because I have been searching for info all day regarding a strange experience I had. I don't know if it is actually significant, or merely coincidence. I was getting ready to fall asleep on Xmas eve, late. It was actually 4am 12/25. Pacific.
Anyway, "earthquake" popped into my head. I live in Northern California, and am not worried about these things. Anyway, I thought to myself that it would be interesting to see if there is an earthquake in the news tomorrow, and then thought about how horrible that something bad could happen on Xmas. Last night I was watching the news and saw the info about Sumantra.

This wouldn't hit me as weird, except that back in October, the same thing happened to me before the earthquake around the 23rd - somewhere in Japan or China??? I was laying in bed, and thought "earthquake". Next day, news of earthquake on news.

I am not into the occult, I don't read about this stuff, I actually consider myself rather dull-witted. My only other weird experiences are that I think of people, and they call me - usually within minutes. It is uncommon, and it occurs not because I decide that I want someone to call, usually, people just pop into my head, I dismiss it, and then, only after they call, I put it together. I recently had this experience with a friend of mine from 4th grade, and I am now almost 40. Hadn't thought of her or talked to her since she moved away in 1975. That one unnerved me a bit.

Anyway, I guess I am just trying to connect with people who are open to talking about this stuff. Please tell me whether I am just being silly, or if perhaps there is something going on -- something to cultivate.

Thanks in advance,
Allison

Not to in any way cast doubt............

But why is it that I never see these posts before a major disaster?

I called the Miss Cleo hotline a while ago. I wanted to ask one question. I asked the lady on the other end of the line, "I just wanted to know. Were you working on September 10th?"

And she promptly hung up on me.

I understand what you are saying, but one doesn't really think anything is weird about the way their mind wanders until after the fact. I, like most people, am not in the habit of springing out of bed to share my pre-sleep wanderings with the people on the internet. I didn't even share my thoughts with my husband. I was just curious what folks on this sort of forum would think, but from what I have read in other discussions, it seems that everyone here is as skeptical as I am. Anyway, I suppose you are right. It's ALL just coincidence, isn't it?
MedicTJ
No, I don't believe everything is all coincidence.

Allow me to explain with a little science....as is my favorite thing to do.

An experiment was performed where two scientists split a particle. One half of the particle had negative polarity. The other half automatically switched to positive polarity. No matter what they tried, even though the particle was now two separate pieces, as soon as they switched the polarity of one, the other instantaneously switched to its partner's opposite.

The odd thing was.......they found that it didn't matter where the two pieces were. They could be on the other side of the room, or they could be on the other side of the globe. As soon as the polarity of one was affected, the other instantly switched as well.

This brought about an interesting paradox. Einstein's theory of relativity states that nothing can move faster than the speed of light. And though it would take a beam of light trillions of years to traverse our universe, the experiment with the two particles seems to defy it. Because even if one of the particles were in another galaxy that would take light all those years to get there....as soon as its partner's polarity was switched, it would instantly switch itself.

So how can this be? Obviously there is communication going on between the two. And obviously the distance between them doesn't seem to matter.

So now I've got you wondering. "What in the hell does this have to do with my original question?"

I'm getting to that.

It is widely accepted now that our universe began with the Big Bang Theory. It is also widely accepted that the Big Bang started at an infinitely small state. Smaller than a particle, and singular.

So now we get to the heart of the matter. If our entire universe...which is made up of gases, dust, galaxies, quasars, stars of every shape, form, and size, all came out of a single infinitely small point..................

Then the case with the measly two particles being able to communicate on a seemingly invisible path starts to seem a little more plausible, doesn't it?

I believe everything we are and see is connected.

It's a well-known fact that we only use 10 percent of our brain. I don't believe we're allowed to use the other 90 percent because we haven't grown enough as a species to handle it. We do quite well at using only our 10 percent to continually destroy this planet.

In saying that, I believe that some individuals are able to transcend that barrier. Just a little bit. And I believe your answer lies there.
Redneck
The "we only use 10% of our brain" story is false. We use more than 10% of our brain for any reasonably complex action, and over the course of a few hours of activity we use most of our brain.

The relativity-defying relationship between two subatomic particles is interesting but it doesn't really address the possibility of psychic powers.
MedicTJ
Why wouldn't it?

If the entire universe was born out of a single particle, and we've already proven that a particle can be split and the halves can communicate with each other on a level that we can't understand, then wouldn't it be plausible to assume that everything in the universe is connected on a level we can't understand?

Maybe it's just me, but I find that to be a fairly reasonable conclusion.

Quantum physics is waaaaay weirder than parapsychology! wink2.gif

Actually, this all is somewhat logical to me. Polarity, magnetics??? I can not wear a battery powered watch. They stop within a month, and when new batteries are put in, they too stop. I do not think I am psychic, it seems that I am just receptive. I think about people who are going to call me because they are thinking about me. I don't will them to call me, they were already going to. The earthquake thing is likely some form of magnetics, polarity, whatever it was you said.... My body was just sensitive to it???? So where does the mind come into all of this? mellow.gif

i also knew that it was goin to happen.

i saw the vison in a dream in 2002 somtime. i wil explain it briefly as i have to got to go to bed .

first of all in the dream i was at a car boot sale. i bought a yelow thing i cant remember what it was but it was yellow. i was suddenly at the beach and walking down to the sea for a paddle. i was paddleing with my brother who i went to the sea with and after a few hours of paddling we came out of the sea and was about halfway up the beach. i think the tide was out because of the distance we walked. there was a slight vibration and then a weid sound behind us. we both turned around and saw the shallow sea bit we were paddling in go out dlightly and a huge wave came in quickly. we then started to run as fast as we could up the beach.

there was a hotel with very faint stony white/blue walls and white window ledges and white balconaries. i turned my head to see where the wave was because the noise was getting louder by the second but when i did that i seen the wave it was about 9 or 10 meters high and it crached down on us and i woke up terrified.

from the 16 of december i had a errie flu like symptom i was psyically ok but i werent well, it was reaqlly strange. i felt that somthing bad was going to happen soon as when i have had past dreams liek this i felt like somthing was not right or somting was bout to happen.

around 5 pm on christmas day the illness went just like that and i was feeling ok again but on boxing day when i got up early to go to the loo (about 6 am) and went back to bed. when i got into bed the flu like symptom came imediately back i ended up feeling asleep and woke up around noon and feeling ok.

i dont understand what it is but i have had others like this which have some true but not tsuami based. what ever it is it aint a co inserdence

laters have to go to bed its 11min past 1 in the morning

This is a basic scientific fact. We never or rarely if ever and in only some very extreme, unusual cases use "most" of our brain. Where did you get your information? I would hate to have been wrong for all these years....

This may sound a bit elementary but about twice or three times a month, a scene from a rerun daily television programme will pop into my head for no apparent reason, its almost like déjà vu, I cant think to tell anyone which episode I think it will be or what I saw – but every time when I get home, the episode that entered my mind will be the one on television – bit spooky and I cannot explain it
Chris_com28
I've experienced things like this quite a few times before but nothing like predicting nautral disasters. The particle connection thing is interesting but I think other forces could be at work here. Wasn't it predicted about a week before it started? Animals also knew about it before it happened. Maybe you somehow felt the vibrations of the earth that indicated an earthquake.

There's an organisation that is looking for evidence of global consciousness called Global Consciousness Project. The data could also be used to support your belief in a quantum connection.

i understand what you are going through, i have the same gift but mine is abit different.. i can know who is one the phone and why they are phoning it is wierd well it was at first then i just got to live with it really. but the other thing is i know what people are feeling close friends and even strangers like my first one, i was sitting in a cafe and this women walked in she seemed ok, your everyyday average person but then something popped into my head like a idea.. well i thought she was in trouble and trying to get away from it or something but with it being my first time i couldn't make it as clear as i can now anyways later on in the local paper as quoted ' young women takes life' and it was her, at first i thought it was my fault for not asking her what was wrong but then, she is now in a better place.

your not being silly these things are real me and you and many others are different and we have to use our gifts as much as we can original.gif

can i ask you one more thing .. are you worried about something ? ? ?
Bex
I have experiences like that too. My daughter also shares the gifts. Many times since she was a toddler; I would pick up the phone at work so I could call her and she would already be on the line, calling out for Mommie. We didn't even need to dial and we are still that way. But this has only happen between the both of us and we also can tell who will call, visit or needs assistance.

What if you can't phyisically help the person?
I concentrate fully on the person and the situation and I try to help them as if I was right beside them. It's like a fully communial prayer to really and truly help someone. I help even if I don't know who they are or if they aren't a very nice person. It's not for me to judge. Reconciliation is not a limited offer anyway.

I also have very good helping people in angry confrontations. Somehow, I get the person to stop ranting and raving about things in general to what is really upseting the person. All become calm and then we talk about it peacefully and they leave me.
