My great grandfather was in World War two serveing in Germany. When he got back to celebrate all the village pitched in to buy him a grandfather clock. The grandfather clock is really nice; finely cut and shaped wood with a smooth gold pendulem.

Anyway, he moved out of that village and in with his wartime wife, my great grandma, and he took the clock with him. I grew up near it, as it was always in pride of place in his sitting room. We'd all sit around it when he was telling us storys from the war, because it had special meaning to the family.

Six years ago, when I was 8, he died in his sleep and my grandma said dureing the night the clock began to chime out of tune for no reason for a minute. She said she got up, which took a while, and went downstairs to check it, and when she tapped the glass cover it stopped, not just the chimeing, but the clock itself. When she went up to tell her husband what had happened he was dead.

Since then despite the fact it doesnt work, the old clock sits in my great grandmas sitting room. It has never needed polishing since and no one, not even a professional, has been able to get it to work.

This is prettey much the only paranormal thing in my family, except when I beleive I was abducted, when I beleive I saw a UFO.

Any similar experiences? I've heard people talk about radios that didnt work, clocks and even a cuckoo clock.

I have heard of those stories. This is similuar. When my grandfather was a young boy, his family was visiting other family in Maryland. There was a card game going on, in the house. My grandfather was playing near the lake, with his brothers, when they heard a loud "bang", and then saw a man jump out of the tree, holding his head! They all ran! What had took place, was a fight during the card game, then a man shot another in the head!
What happened later, was that when anyone came to visit the house overnight since that day, they were diturbed in their sleep, by a whirling wind sound from the closet, and then the room becoming very cold. No one was ever comfortable enough to stay there all night. They always left!

There are a number of stories about clocks like that. There's even a song on the theme, "My Grandfather's Clock".

"My Grandfather's clock was too big for the shelf,
so it stood ninety years on the floor.
It was taller by half than the old man himself,
though it weighed not a pennyweight more.

It was bought on the morn
of the day that he was born
and was always his treasure and pride.
But it stopped,
short,
never to go again
when the old man died."

The funniest haunted object story I've heard had to do with a card table that had been used for seances. It (or the spirit haunting it) objected to profanity. The person telling the story was a little boy at the time and was friends with the son of the family that owned it. He was at their house one day when his friend's father was working on the drain under the sink. He took the pipe loose, poured the water that was in it into a bucket and handed it to his son to get rid of before sticking his head back under the sink.

The son got rid of the water by dumping it down the drain onto his dad's head. The dad jerked and hit his head, then came out from under the sink swearing. There was a scraping noise and this table came scooting in from the living room and pinned him in a corner until he calmed down. grin2.gif

I've heard a couple of stories of clocks and watches stopping at the time of death.

Thats weird, Queen. I didn't realise they were this common. I'd be intrested to hear more objects besides clocks that were effected, if anyone else has any?

This isn't exactly the same but it's somewhat connected, and odd. About a year ago I got these chinese bobbleheads. One is a cow and one is a monkey. Well they sit on a shelf thing in front of my TV. I always have them facing straight ahead. But almost every night for a long time when I would wake up they would be facing a different direction. Usually facing eachother, but I didn't really make much of it. It stopped for a while. Then on Christmas Eve I'd been watching a movie and had fallen asleep in my bed. I woke up very abruptly. My TV was off (which is normal, it shuts itself off) but I looked at the bobbleheads and they were moving. I watched them move almost a foot across my shelf. I also noticed that my dog (who was laying at the end of the bed) was staring towards the shelf w/ her ears perked up and I could hear her growling very low. I wasn't really scared just confused. Any ideas as to what this might be?

That is very weird. could they be haunted? If you want an expert oppinion you should inquire in the experiences board. They all hang around their, debunking peoples theorys and what-not.
