Ernie the Werewolf meets Bert the Vampire in the Toronto SkyDome to battle to the death as part of the Grey Cup half-time show. Who is your money on to come out as the winner? Why is this your choice? Note: don't infer that it is the same Ernie and Bert from Sesame Street, just consider the natural abilities of a werewolf and a vampire.

This is a no holds barred match, but outside objects are NOT permitted. For fans of the WWE, this sort of fair fight might be hard to imagine, but run with it. This is a pure rend-and-tear sort of match, tooth and claw style.

Feel free to cite any pop culture refrence you like to sway the argument your way, or refer to more classical notions about these two abominations of nature - IT IS ALL FAIR GAME. Well, don't get too into different gifts that might be offered to either combatant if they were a part of the World of Darkness (for those of you who have no idea what that means, don't worry about it).

Personally, I think that the Werewolf is coming away with the win in this match. I reckon them to be slightly stronger than a vampire, although it would stand to reason that they are slower. Werewolves should also be bigger than a Vampire, giving the the edge necessary to rip that blood sucker apart.

Werewolf will win grin2.gif no doubt. str v.s dex hmmmm str will be victorious

Well, a werewolf can only die from silver, so unless the vampire had a gun or sword, he's effed.

You don't know anything

The aggression of werewolves isn't that bad.......I mean unless you get them pissed off then they go nuts. But they have to get really really really angry for them to shift into the animals they are.

It amuses me how much you mortals think you know ha

eeek what can be said that hasnt already been said if you ask me it depends on what kind of abilities each would possess, perhaps an acient vampire would come out on top if its strength increased with its age. on a base level perhaps werewolf would win.
VXTip556
arent vampires already dead, how could a werewolf kill it then? and he would have a tough time killing a werewolf without any silver, i think they would get tired of fighting and go for some coffee before the sun comes up to ruin their fun
Guardsman Bass
First off, we need to decide on what vampire will be fighting. The Vampires from the movie Underworld seem to be the low end on vampire strength; aside from the Leader, who spends most of his time in hibernation, none of the vampires show any kind of strength greater than that of humans, and rely heavily on their technology to defeat the stronger werewolves. On the other end, we have vampires like Lestat from the Anne Rice novels, who are utterly beyond any human opponent in terms of powers. They have great strength, unimaginable speed, and special powers depending on the vampire.

Werewolves are a little more vague. The Van Helsing movie werewolves showed tremendous strength and speed. If anyone has any other examples of strong or weak werewolves, please post.

As for the fight, I am going to go with the Vampire, especially if it is a 'bare knuckles' fight without weapons. The werewolf's only recourse would be to simply tear the vampire apart, piece by piece, and try to hold him down until either sunlight comes, or the vampire collapses. In contrast, the vampire could kill the werewolf simply by either getting a mortal wound, or simply maiming the thing until it bleeds to death.
DemonWatcher
the werevolves of Underworld fame, were very agressive and quick to act, there strength was for the most part between humans and the most powerful, a very good mix of weak and strong wolfmen, however, they seem to act before assessing the situation and the vamps there yes were weak, but quick thinkers they were. If memory serves from the movie it took a hybrid to defeat the most powerful vamp, but if the most powerful Vampire like Lestat or Akasha were to tango with the most powerful werewolf, that would be a fight, and yes the strength of werewolves is left to our imagination. But i say nothing could compare to the hybrid which has the best of all three worlds.

Blood just doesn't supply needed nutrition the way good meat and vegetables provide. We grow some tasty beef hereabouts. Mmmm, beef. And lots of good Nebraska corn.

A werewolf can beat down a vampire by the fullest. tongue.gif
Goddess Of The Hunt
I think the werewolf would definitly win because of brute strength, larger teeth and claws. But with the vampire's stealth ability I think vampy would give wolfy a run for his money... grin2.gif
Moro
A grunt werewolf Vs. a newbie vampire would have a good battle their probably about even as far as
attributes/abilities goes.

But, a king werewolf Vs. an elder vampire, there is no comparison the vampire would tear the werewolf to shreds.

really? how come?

Frostbite
Ya I think Bruce-Lee and Huo Juan Jai proved that brute strength don't always win. These two men very agile, strong and disciplined both have taken down much larger and stronger opponents. I think that a vampire with all his/her time might learn a few tricks. A werewolf is nothing more than a really big viscious dog. And I reckon Werewolves are easily confused. geek.gif

true
but werewolves always seem so strong, agile and with a high threshold for pain. as in it would keep fighting until its actually dead. not running off with a cut on its finger. because its just a crazy animal, out to kill.
Frostbite
A vampire lives for hundreds even thousands of years before being slain. They don't think like humans, and are obviously much more superior. I find it very hard to believe that a rabid canine could surpass such a superior opponent in combat. It's not what you got it's what you know....

strength can beat intelligence too. it goes both ways.
besides, we dont even know what type were talking about. i mean, nosfaratu against the wolfman from abbot and costello? or as in underworld types? i dunno
Undeadskeptic
A werewolf would beat the crap out of a vampire. The Vampy-boy would be fluttering around with its fangs out trying to bite Wolfy-boy, and wolfy would just pick him up, rip him in half, stomp on the leg half, chew up the head half and then smoosh it into the wall.

I think my pet cat would batter both of them.

Cats are nails! They can win half their fights with just their attitude alone.
Did you see about the cat chasing the bear up a tree and the bear would not come down while the cat sat and stirred at it.

I know, my cat use her brain to do a lot of things. She even learnt to open her own cat food packets.
Undeadskeptic
Really? I have attempted on many occasions to teach my cat to talk in English, but I think its hard for her due to her unhuman vocal systems the best she can do is what I think might be "Cat" "Human" and "Hungry" although hungry sounds more like "Hgjugry" laugh.gif

There is an online text-based game www.bitefight.org, werewolves vs vampires, I played it a year ago, I was a warewolf original.gif

lol, that's only because cats thing dogs smell (just look at the disdain on their faces when they see dogs).
Surprisingly cats tend to come out better than dogs most of the time if the two fight.
Undeadskeptic
I love it when cats do that 'evil' look on their face like they know a big secret that you don't wink2.gif

Okay Moulder, food for thought. I assume it's your everyday vamp. From Dracua. But if I'm wrong may the OP strike me down right now...

Neither, as neither exists as typically described.

Who votes for separating Myths and Legends from Cryptozoology?

Edit: And lightening up a bit, I'd have to say werewolves. Both have enhanced speed but vampires don't have the strength or defenses despite their quick healing. For a vampire to damage its victims it must first hypnotize them, and that wouldn't work on a werewolf. Plus, the wolf doesn't have to get in snug to hopefully poke a main artery, it just has to go all rarwrarwrwarwrrr and slash at the vampy.
drizzet 11
depends on what form of wolf and vamp since some werewolves are built like tanks and others are fast and agile. some vamps are just fairly basic but others are gods among monsters(alucard from hellsing leaps to mind if you what I'm talking about you know he would win). so its way up in the air be it strong vs. fast or war of the immortals its a chicken and egg fight all in all..... lol grin2.gif alucard vs. wolfman grin2.gif
