Well, my avatar is of a black wolf. Wolves have always been one of my favorite animals and when I was working in Wyoming in Yellowstone National Park I was stopped by a Native American woman who told me she could see people's spirit animals (as well as auras). She said I had "a great black wolf" with me at all times, very close. Now, this came out of nowhere and I hadn't spoken to her before. I was an avid wolf-watcher in the Park before then, but afterwards I felt an even closer sense of connection. Whether it was just a coincidence or there is really something to the idea of "spirit guides" I don't know, but I've always felt a closeness to these animals.

I'm also have very dark hair, so I guess I like that the wolf is dark, too.
