does the universe have an birthday or an experation date? if the big bang is true than new pieces of the universe are being born every second. Does it stop growing or is the universe infinite? disgust.gif wacko.gif
The Raven
The theory I've heard says: NO. The universe has been recreating and destroying itself, but the most common falsehood is that time does as well. This is not true, although I do not believe the universe is infinite, I do know time is. Its the only thing we can comprehend since the truth lies far beyond the line. There is one thing you need to ask yourself though: Is the universe real? Sometimes the sky looks like a ceiling, and since the general public has not been higher than a passenger jet, whos to say? Whos to say...

I think we humans will take care of it long before it's suppose to expire.

I believe the universe is infinte and has no beginning or end.

There is so much that will, most likely, always go unexplained. That bugs me way more than it should.

Which is precisely why there are so many of us here in this forum.

Exactly what I believe. Called the Big Bang and Big Crunch. The big bang throws matter to a large space and it grows, but then eventually it starts to suck back together (through black holes? Then all the black holes combine?) and it crunches back into a very small clump. Then another bang and it starts over again. But how many crunches and bangs have there been? Maybe were the first? Some people think exactly the same thing happens every time, like we were already doing this before the last big crunch, which would allow us to see the future if it has already happened. But then again I think time continues and its a different outcome each time. But how the first matter was created...beats me.

thats what im tryin to figure out if we had no space billions of years ago where was all this matter floating around
seeking
all this matter was floating around at a singularity, everything that was, that is, and that is to be, was once part of the same infinetly small singularity, something happened to spark the big bang, imposisble to actually know, and there you have it

This is off topic completely, but I notice EVERYONE who talks about the big bang says 'sparks'. This always gives me an image of lightning in an emptiness of space, starting a big bang. I guess you could also say 'triggers' but i never heard anybody say it with triggers.

Back on topic, just sitting here pondering where everything could have come from can and probably has made many people mad or crazy or just start a headache. blink.gif blink.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif
