I know it's only January, but it's never too early to plan Valentine's Day.

What can I say, I'm a hopelessly mushy hopeless romantic.
Anyway, I was thinking that we could set up a service for secret admirerers. The people who want to confess their crushes could give the people clues, poems, etc...
Yeah, er, my ideas aren't very good, so...any ideas?

Ooh! Maybe, like...we could have a committee of V-day people set up, to send the stuff from the secret admirerers...and people who don't have admirerers or admirer anyone (geesh, that's a mouthful...I mean...handful, since I'm typing) could sign up and then we could set up people on the not taken list! I love setting people up!

Also...we could have a graphic making contest for V-day, and whoever wins gets their graphics on the forum for V-day. And Saruman could make everything pink and red. And there could be virtual confetti, and cupids, and candy, and...

You seem to be an extremely festive person. I on the other hand haven't celebrated for who knows how long. I would enjoy seeing some light on these forums and a bit of friendly cheer to lighten people up, so you can count me in to agree with whatever you want.

14th Feb.
I think the sentiment is nice but I think that the greeting cards companies have taken it as another day to make stashes of cash so that the real meaning of it is completely lost, but then again, I'm just a grumpy little lady hehehe.

^That's awesome!
I've been with my husband for about 6 years now and married two years.
But I don't think we've ever had a REAL Valentine's Day. His parents always have him helping them with their business.
And I've never had a secret admirerer. Maybe this will be my year!
with my husband I mean.

So, uh, I think we need a sign up list.
List 1 is for people who secretly admirerer someone. We'll set up some type of service for them. I'm on this list.

Even if you just wanna joke with a friend, sign up for this.
I'm still trying to think of a way to do it for people who don't have crushes on anyone...hmmm...because we can't exactly set them up with people since someone who doesn't admirer anyone may in fact have a secret admirer. Then we 'd have crazy love triangle awkwardness. Hmmm. Just sign up for
List 2. The "other" list.

Like so many other holidays, Saint Valentine's day had been corrupted and commercialized. i never found that it was such a big screaming deal to begin with.
in my EXTREMELY limited experience, ive found very little 'love, romance, and pink cards' actually goes on. Saint Valentine's day has become more like an excuse to throw a party.

Actually, if it wasn't commercialized there wouldn't really be anything to corrupt. It is the commercialization of the holidays that keeps them alive.
That being said, The Chocolate Industry has indeed co-opted Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. But especially VD and MD.
I actually like VD....it gives me another reason to give lovely presents to my lovely wife.
