I'm kinda new to this and i was just wondering why are so many cryptid pics are blurry or grainy?
The Skeptic Eric Raven
In my opinion, it is people wanting to pass pics of ordinary things off as extrodinary ones. It is easier to do this with blurry pics. You will see alot of those in this forum.
Frogs
Another possible reason. Assume for a second it is an actual sighting of something unknown.

The person would probably have that "Holy bleep! Look at that!!" Hands shaking reaction when taking the pics.

So - that and the attempt to pass off fakes are probably the reason many are blurry.

Either they do it to make it seem less obvious(if it's fake),or because they are terrified of the creature.

I think that's all one reason.

People deliberately make their pics blurry to try and give them some authenticity... Say for example its a pic of a suposed Bigfoot then they might shake the camera a little while taking the photo to make it look like they are
scared and surprised by the creature. You can also add blur effects in photoshop.

Pics can be blurry because there is not enough light or it is too close up to the subject or too far away so there isn't enough focus. If it is too far away sometimes the pic is enlarged which adds to the blurryness.

Imo, mostly pics come out blurry because of movement of the subject not neccasarily the camera operator. If when scared or surprised you can hold a camera fairly steady... If the subject (creature) is moving, and normally this means at a fast pace then the subject will come out 'blurry' - with motion lines coming from it.

Most of the time though pics are taken of still creatures or slow moving creatures or creatures in the distance and the camera will be able to take the pic and come out blur free. It is often, afterwards when the pic has been photoshopped (unless really really well done) that it comes out blurry due to enlargment and pixelisation.

Footprints are hard to take pics of as well.
In reality they may be clear but when you take a pic it looks like nothing. That's a common problem for sassy/ yowie hunters.

In this age of digital photography there is no
excuse for a blurry picture.

All my life I've seen nothing but blurry pictures of unidentified
whatchamacallits and I'm sick of it.

With heat scanners and this and that gadget, scientists
should be able to have solid evidence, and if they
do they are probably not making them public. Yet .....

if you hope on seeing something when you go hiking or something like that make sure to carry the necessities to do so.

Yes,but you see with the pics that are clear and revealing, then people say "oh,it's too clear,it must be staged".So what i'm wondering, what SHOULD a picture of a cryptid look like?Cause either it is "too good",or "not good enough"...

I don't think anyone will win either way, some people, no matter what the picture looks like will think, "oh, that's definitely real," or, "There is no way in heck that's authentic." It's all a matter of opinion.

Then probably the only way is capture

That is the only way,by bringing in a body, but by doing so,if you kill that cryptid, and that;s it,then that will be terrible, cause you have just killed a legend.Unless some kind of new technology can capture a cryptid live...

True.

It would take some serious gonads to catch something like a chupacabra.

due to many of them being fake, and blurry fake photos are more likely to be believed than fake clear photos....

plus most cryptid photos are taken from a distance....

if a farmer can supposedly shoot a chupa than why can't someone shoot a chupa with a tranquilizer with a tracker implant to capture it.

Because he didn't really shoot a chupacabra, if he did, then I would think he would turn it in to someone...

maybe he shot it but it got away, or maybe he was to scared to turn the creature in, who knows...

Had it drank blood, it would have gone into it's stomach, not it's circulatory system.

Lord_Kazius
isnt it obvious? all cryptids are in fact blurry....
IamUnexplained
lots of them are considerably older photographs, and also if you are not a good photographer your pictures will almost always come out blurry in the older days. And even today if i was walking in some forest and saw the jersey devil flying around i would find it hard to relax and say ok lets get a nice shot here with the clouds in the background... Hell i would chase after the thing and snap as many pictures as i could bc im sure the thing would notice a giant flash of light and well...i dont think it would like it.
cor_raven
Their blurry because most cryptids don't like ta pose. also it is easyer to take a blurry digital camera picture than a blurry normal camera picture and most of the time when people are caught in these situations they do not have the best light or the best equipment. and most of them are faked
IamUnexplained
haha hey bigfoot could you stand next to that pretty tree right there? ohh alittle to the left. now could you put your arm on your hip? ahh thats perfect! hey wait where are you going! crap *snap*

thats why the pictures are blurry.
Apocalyptic Cryptid
yah that way people have a harder time seeing that the so called chupa is a dog or cat or a box...yes a box... original.gif

Your answer is as good as mine, maybe they want to pass it off as something else, which someone has said or maybe they are just terrified out of their skin that they cannot stay still but i tell ya if i ever in countered one of them you wouldn't see me for dust grin2.gif
