Phish was, by far, the best and worst performances I have seen live. In the past ten years, I have been to dozens of Phish concerts. All of them completely different. The bad ones were definitely caused by Trey's drunken state. Flubbed lyrics and missed cues are only the beginning of Trey's multiple faux pas. I remember when he fell of the stage at Alpine Valley and the crowd booed him. It was one of the most disappointing experiences of my life.
On the other hand, when they are on, they are on! One of my favorite things to see Phish do is when they all put down their instruments, walk to the front of the stage, put their arms around each other and sing barber-shop in four-part harmony accapella. This drives the crowd wild! "sweet Adeline", "Hello My Baby" and "Coney Island Baby" are some of my favorites. I also like it when they cover songs completely outside their genre like Beastie Boys and Will Smith, funny stuff.

Does anyone remember Bush X?
That's my worst concert. The lead singer took his shirt off 3 songs into the concert and kept it off. Because he's a no-talent pretty boy.
It was beyond disapointing.

The best concert I ever saw was Metallica. I have been a fan for years, and this past year is the first chance I've had to see them. Second best.....KID ROCK!
And I hate to admit this......but last year I saw Vanilla Ice and he blew the doors off of a local club. I wouldn't pay to see him again, but he earned a little of my respect.

And another show I saw was a Slayer/Slipknot show. Slipknot rocked, but everyone left for Slayer... Superjoint Ritual was going to open, but they dropped out. Too bad, because I was looking forward to killing someone while listening to The Introvert

I saw Metalica in 1994 and Kid Rock in 1999. They were both great shows. Metalica lit up the stage with a 30 minute pyro-show with lasers and lights known from the And Justice For All tour, as the fireworks slowly came to and end the band rolled into a very long "One" set that hade the crown going nuts. Kid Rock also put on one hell of a show. Complete with half-clad strippers in cages suspended from the roof, the band also employed some pyro effects that made the show very enjoyable. Powerman 5000 had the honor of opening up for Kid Rock and also did a wonderful job captivating the audience.
Another great show I say just last summer was the final Lolapaloza show. Headlined by the shell-shocking Jane's Addiction, the show was a phenomenal secess. Dave Nevaro blew the crowd away with his one-of-a-kind guitar stylings and the stage presence of the last set of the night was earth-shattering.
Other bands taking the stage that day include but not limited too: Audio Slave, The Donnas, Queens of the Stoneage, Incubus and Powerman 5000. Stevo from Jackass: the movie was also a guest at the infamous concert festival and was supposed to perform some mind-numbing display of shock comedy with a little gore mixing in for fun. But his set was cut due to a thunderstorm that descended on the area as fast as it left. The whole of lawn seat ticket holders were evacuated to concession stands, restrooms and underground facilities at the venue while us pavilion folks were left to ride it out. The stage was covered by a huge tarp by security personnel who quickly disappeared afterwards. The sky darkened in the matter of minutes as the temperature dropped 20 degrees (f) even though it was 5:30 pm in the middle of July. Soon after the rain started, people not evacuated began running to the top of the lawn and sliding back down on their bellies. Though lightning flashed around them, they seemed to show no fear. To what should my wondering eyes fall on but a stark naked Stevo standing atop one of the beer huts.
He was tackled by security guards shortly after and hauled away. The skies cleared and the concert commenced. The sun came back out a minute 25 minutes after it began and Incubus took the stage. Soaking wet lawn goers amerged from their various hiding places and returned to the muddy lawn. That was, by far, the best festival I have ever seen.

I also saw Queens of the Stone Age, but with the Distillers. That was a crazy fun show.

I saw Mudvane last summer at X-fest last summer as well. The put on a pretty good show. They took the stage right before Godsmack blew the crowd away.
BTW, I love rock festivals; in case you could not tell...

i saw the blood brothers and daughters play together last November, and those two bands kicked major a$$. it was in a bar in san antonio, so the room was pretty crowded, which made it even better. i also saw another band, thursday, that was really good.
i think AFI's cover of the cure's "hanging garden" is one of the best cover songs i've heard. also goldfinger's version of the cure's "just like heaven".

Festivals are awesome, you get to see so many bands for a really good price! Unfortunately we don't get too many around here.... I've been to Warped Tour and Edgefest a couple of times, plus we get Bluesfest but it seems like every year there's less and less actual blues music. Last year Bryan Adams was playing.

I like him, but he ain't blues.

The midwest is a great place to catch multiple rock and blues festivals in the months of July and August. Most of them are all day long and have more than one stage. The only hard part is when you have to chose between two bands.

They are usually cheap too ($20-$30 dollars for a lawn seat) for ten to 15 bands. You should come down next summer and rock out with Girty and her pals.

Sounds like fun! You're lucky to get all these festivals coming your way.
I know what you mean about the multiple stages... Warped Tour has 4, and there's a constant flow of bands playing. You have to prioritize all the bands you want to see, it's a little annoying... but in a way, that's the fun part of it too.

I hope to go to the V festival again this year...
I saw the divine comedy doing a cover of queens of the stone age in a 1920s Berlin club style lol.....
