Mad Manfred
First ones that popped into my head...I also made an effort to pick those that are the most recognised.

Some aren't particularly rock or metal, though close enough IMO.

*cough*votekorn*cough* grin2.gif
Hotoke
RAMMSTEIN

why is slipknot in there? poop> slipknot IMO
Mad Manfred
Ah, another Rammstein fan thumbsup.gif

Whats your favorite song? Mine are Sonne and Mein Herz Brennt original.gif

PS. added Slipknot because they are the most popular borderline death metal band around today. As you can tell I've added metal and rock bands from multiple genres.
MK ULTRA
Maroon 5? I thought they were a girly band. wub.gif
Im voting for Linkin Park! thumbsup.gif
Hotoke
my favorite is reise reise and du riechst so gut.

This really shouldn't have been a poll...
Mad Manfred
Whyzzat?
RH2097
Black Eyed Peas - Not rock/metal AT ALL!!!
Blink 182 - Punk
Creed - Christian Pop Rock, can probably let that slide
Evanescence - Pop Rock
Korn - Slightly metal I guess
Limp Bizkit - Wannabe Pop Rock
Linkin Park - Pop Rock
Maroon 5 - Same as BEP
Rammstein - Metal
Slipknot - Metal

You need to figure out what is Rock and Metal..... And my vote is for Slipknot. But all around, favourite Metal Band is Devildriver.

You're entitled to your opinion. Obviously others disagree.

Of course I'm entitled to my opinion, which is why this shouldn't have been a poll, so people could at least just talk about their favourite rock/metal band that go beyond the 10 choices, you know?
Mad Manfred
Already a thread, which was started yesterday IIRC.
__Kratos__
How did you NOT put METALLICA in that poll? angry.gif

I choose Korn, it was a toss up between Rammstein and Korn won. grin2.gif

I considered Metallica though decided against it as I wanted more modern metal. Most kids these days have no idea who Metallica are wink2.gif

Oh no!! Don't say that. crying.gif I feel like my mom, now. I hope kids today know who Metallica is. They've made new music in the past few years.

AS the poll, I'm not really that familiar with any of them. Just a song or two hear and there. Not my style. original.gif
Bizeebutt
I would say that it was a mistake to not put either metallica or Pink Floyd, but thats just MO. Great bands they are, yes!!

And of course Tool. You forgot Tool. sad.gif

A little off subject here... but anyone remember Poison??? and Brett Michaels??

Well check this out...

Former Poison singer producing, singing country w00t.gif

PITTSBORO, N.C. — Bret Michaels, the former leader of the hard-rock band Poison, is working with a different kind of music these days, reinventing himself as a country singer.

When Michaels needed a place to shoot a video for country music up-and-comers Forty5 South, he ended up in Chatham County, about nine miles west of Pittsboro.

That's because Michaels is friends with Christie Cook, whose family owns the property where the video was shot. And Cook, along with her husband, James, runs Media One Studios, a company that specializes in videography work.

The scenery fit the words for a song called "We're Country So We Can."

On Wednesday, Michaels directed a Chapel Hill-based film crew and the band through a series of scenes — of the band lip-syncing in a horse ring, of them lip-syncing in front of a truck filled with hay bales and pretty ladies and Thor, the redbone coonhound.

Made up of five guys in their 20s, Forty5 South hails from Jackson, Tenn. Their first album, "Too Much, Too Fast," made a dent on Texas radio and sold about 10,000 copies, said the band's manager, Tim Barham.

"We're Country So We Can" is set to be the first single from a new album to be released in April. Michaels produced the album, sings a few lines of "We're Country So We Can" and appears in the video.

For Michaels, the project is another step in the effort to reposition himself as a player on the country scene. He hopes to release a country album, "Freedom of Sound," this fall.

Michaels, who took Poison to No. 1 in 1988 with "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," isn't worried about being accepted by Nashville and its fans. He's been influenced by KISS and Aerosmith, but likes Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers Band and George Strait, too.

"The reason I don't fear it is that I'm comfortable in my skin. I'm not trying to trick anybody," he said.

I LOVE Ramstein!!! My favorite song is Feuer Frei!! OH YEAH!!! I play that very loudly every time the neighbours kids throw themselves around that house as if they are demolishing it, driving me mental. wacko.gif Offering them the same courtesy is always the respectful thing to do, methinks gunsmilie.gif

Nevertheless, I voted Evanescence. I like all their songs, incl originals, save one. If they weren't on the list, I would def have voted Ramstein, since they rock! Ev. doesn;t rock, they sorta flow....
Hotoke
Wollt ihr das bett in flahmen seehen great song

hahahahah Rock!?

Blink 182?? Linkin Park?? Evancessence??

These are NOT rock. hahaha laughable.
Subtemperate
Actually, Rock is a generic term covering a range of styles that evolved from rock and roll

"it is characterized by electronically amplified instrumentation, a heavily accented beat, and relatively simple phrase structure."

Now does that cover those above?
BurnSide
Indeed it does.
However i'm also gonna hold tnto the fact that it has to be somewhat recognisable as a form of 'music' which is pleasing to hear, and the able list doesn't really include anything on that.

But hey, each to their own. *shudders*

There is a shocking lack of Pearl Jam. For me nothing defines Rock/Grunge better than a bit of Pearl Jam.
Bizeebutt
Ah, yes, Vital... true. And Nirvana. These are rock legends.

Yeah, I love Nirvana. thumbsup.gif

Don't worry, Jenn, I'm in high school and many a people know who Metallica is. grin2.gif

I voted for Linkin Park because they make good songs. I think people don't like them as much now because radio and tv overplays and kills their songs.
Vitalogy
Soundgarden are amazing also.
