First came Mario, then from Sega came Sonic the Hedgehog. But which one is really better?

For me, Mario games have aged much better than Sonic.
I used to enjoy both when I was a kid.
Now, I can still play the old Mario games and have fun ... but Sonic bores me to death.

I had far more fun playing mario then sonic, so its mario for me!

I actually have a working NES with Mario 3...I liked him in the froggie suit!
Maybe I'll hook it up to play it...

That was a really hard decision for me as I love Mario AND Sonic...but I had to go with Sonic...good metal soundtrack in the latest ones plus there has not been a good Mario game since Sunshine.

sonic would beat mario in a fight no problems. Sonic has the super speed, and power up modes, plus he's just cooler. I love mario, but sonic is way cooler

Always been a fan of both. I had Mario the day it came out, and i had Sonic the day it came out. I have, at some point in time, owned ever Sonic and every Mario game ever made. They're all fantastic games for very different ways.

I love Mario All Stars that game kicks ass. I also love Sonic so I chose both. I hate the new gaming systems I can't play them and they're so hard to figure out.

Neither returned my calls, Mario was always at a job.... and Sonic couldn't operate a phone. Still I did score a date with starfox.....

It's also worth noting that Mario made a much better transition into 3D.
Mario 64 was ground-breaking, brilliant, and still fun today.
Sonic 3D Blast (Saturn) was terrible, and both Sonic Adventure games (Dreamcast) were very boring IMO.

Marios first 3D appearance was Mario RPG on the SNES. It was very poor. Sonics first 3D, 3D Blast, was ALOT better.

I'm in for a Mario fan. Mostly due to a connection with him being the first console character I played and for the fact that he didn't sell out. Plus he has a better support cast.

sonic is better. but i like mario too. i just grew up with sonic games, shoes, toys, and the tv show
