Why is it that we're all of a sudden getting reports of these? An outbreak affecting the canine population?

Probably more along the lines of an outbreak of people seeing diseased animals and thinking that they are monsters or something new.

I think it started with one slightly weird animal a while ago (looked like a fox), and grew from there. I doubt anything new has been discovered through this craze or flap, though.

I suppose you think this is funny too, enjoy.
http://www.medlist.com/HIPPOCRATES/III/2/I...s/acne%2001.jpgSorry but this pic of that poor creature isn't even funny. Are you even aware that this poor thingy have a serious skin disease that is very painful and will lead to a horrible agony death in end?

Are you referring to me? If so, I was thinking the people's interpretation of the animals "funny", not the suffering of the poor pathetic things.

Put the both of them down right away.
it would be the humane thing to do,
Or you could put them in a freak show circus and make some cash, just a thought

Sorry, but this just looks like one of those hairless dogs from Mexico. The real Chupa has very sharp claws and teeth. Check out a Cryptozooology book or site. There you can see what a real Chupa looks like.
It's similar I must say but not the actual thing!
