DarkSinister
Have fun 2pac..how much did your ticket cost? Must of cost a grip huh? The last concert I went to was a Mos Def one about a month ago. Just take some pics and post them original.gif

Hailo, didn't like that song too much, haha. Have you heard of The Art of One Mind? They're two producers (Illmind & Symbolic One) and they have a cd coming out May 31. They're first single(The Broke Song) is pretty hot, check it out...

They were $100 dollars I seen worse! I know they can get high so I think I had a good deal. Plus my Mom is planning to go to a Nelly concert next month. I don't know why she wants to go to that! If you ask me a Nelly concert is a waste of money. tongue.gif
_hAiLO_
I remember trying to go to a concert where there was Ice Cube and the rest of the Westside Connection, Ying Yang Twins, and Nate Dogg. It cost me like 54 bucks, for 3rd party seats(farthest). It was like so much more for the floor seats. Anyway, it got canceled cause there was a scare that Ice Cube was going to be shot, guess it didn't happen cause its not in the news, huh? grin2.gif

Yeah...I think I see what you mean. Its not that close to what really points to the direction of where hip-hop even came from, but what I like about the song is that its got energy and attitude. I've read comments about the song, people said its good to impel and energize you. Another said its the best Roy Jones Jr. has done despite all the 'garbage' he's made, and its good for an opening song.

Not really, but now I know grin2.gif . I took a listen to the song, and I really agree with the lyrics. Its wise, its virtuous, pure, and what the world needs. But the thing is the beat. I wish it really grabbed me more you know? If it grabbed me more, I would really lean into it more and drive me to listen harder. And since mainstream consumers only like the beat, don't give a danm about lyrics, I say that if 'The Broke Song' had a great beat to it, it would reach mainstream and I bet the lyrics would spread like wildfire. Get what I mean? 50 cent's beats and The Art of One Mind's lyrics, its devastation baby!

Sorry for the late reply. I moved so no internet connection hmm.gif
Anyway like I said, I only listened to the first three singles(Through The Wire, All Falls Down, and Jesus Walks) and the only one that I remotely liked was Jesus Walks.
To me a couple of lines mess up the whole songs, especially with lines like this in All Falls Down:

Man I promise, she's so self conscious
She has no idea what she's doing in college
That major that she majored in don't make no money
But she won't drop out, her parents will look at her funny
Now, tell me that ain't insecurrre
The concept of school seems so securrre
Sophmore three yearrrs aint picked a careerrr

The beat was good, and the lyrics are okay but the day Cassidy manages to prove to Hip-Hop that he is indeed a "hustla" is the day hip-hop dies for me. sleepy.gif

When the heck is Dr. Dre coming out with his "Detox" album? I've been waiting for it ever since it was announced and still nothing.

Ohh well- The Documentry by Game is still in my car and it doesn't look like I'm gonna take it out anytime soon yes.gif

I love that cd Game had a great first album! I am also still bumpin' that cd!

haha ic. I thought the beats were pretty dope, but i guess that's just my opinion. The Art of One Mind just produce the song, The Fruit Project raps in it. It's a hard sound getting use to i guess. happy.gif

Yeah it's called freestyling, that's how Jin got famous on BET. I tried doing that for awhile but i suck here let me try...

Aw! That was great! clap.gif I love the lyrics, even some of the current mainstream rappers couldn't come up with those lyrics! Though there was a little high-level vocabulary, I think if you free-style with a beat, keep it simple so simple people can decipher the messege grin2.gif

I'm here dude, come on give yourself more credit then that, I bet I could never come close rhyming about U.M., but hailo is right though your vocab skills are a bit too intellectual for a freestyle but that should not stop u from using it in this case it depends where and who your rapping to. I remeber droping some lyrics for my friends they did not get it so I went and added my nigga, hoes, and homies every few lines, mind you I did not change one word just added some and then spit it one more time and then they were like I feel you now blink.gif I went insane and was like "I did not change one think about it," and they were like yeah you did. So I showed both the lyrics and they started laughing.

and let me clear up somthing I don't freestyle that good I write them down then rap them if I try to freestyle i usually come written and try to modify it to the beat and change some words. Its just as good as a freestyle but its kind of like cheating. what I do is I update my veiws on my interest and my views on common hip-hop and current affairs then turn it into a rap and memorize it, so it seems like I come in fresh with new sh**, but in reality I just write a ryhme like its a diary and just memorize them. Like today I heard a whole squad was lost or killed in westren iraq, I most likely will write something about it. Then tomorrow if I get into a freestyle i might spit a little something about it.

1st: I know most people out there hate rap, and I have no problems with that, but if you hate rap, don't post in here. this thread is only for people who like rap and/or have an appreciation for it.

2nd: None of us that like rap have come onto any type of threads about other music and starting putting oit down, so if you could do the same and keep negative thoughts on rap out of here we rap fans would appreciate it original.gif if you want to knock rap put it in the "Bad Rap" thread.

3rd: to all those who like rap, feel free to post thoughts and opinions on your favorite artists! original.gif

Yeah, I agree. Darksinister, you got more skill than you think. And about you freestyling, and then add the street words in it and then it made sense to your friends, wow. Thats all I can think of. I'm not trying to say anything negative about your friends, no, thats the last thing I want to do with anyone. But sometimes people gotta ignore the things that make rap so good for a second and listen to what supports the whole song in the first place.

And I got an opinion question. Who thinks Terror Squads 'Lean Back' is a hip-hop classic? I've just been thinking of how big it was, and the many reasons why. I tried comparing it with other songs, and I want to get your opinion on this. Is it like a hip-hop classic?

It could be you remember "Hot in here" by Nelly, all the summer anthems get mad play it all depends which one gets the public attention. Do you remeber "Flap Your Wings" or "Groupie Luv" the supposedly summer hits of 2004, no I bet you don't, so yeah "Lean back" will be one of the best hip-hop summer hits of all time.
FLY SPITTA
lean Back? the best? ever?

That should have been posted in the jokes section!
_hAiLO_
I don't think Lean Back is the best ever, but a hip-hop classic. I think Super Pancake was right, I don't thoroughly remember the other songs as some songs I really liked. But Lean Back was one of those songs that got mad mainstream that I liked. Ofcourse its lyrics weren't somewhat underground, or gangster rap...but some specific lyrics stood out to give its theme.

I remember Remy Ma saying 'See, money ain't a thing, we still the same'. And some lyrics what Fat Joe said 'See n**** get tight, when you worth some millions/That's why I sport the cincilla to hurt they feelin's.'

It happens laugh.gif
FLY SPITTA
I don't really like that song I like the remix by Lil Jon featuring Ma$e and Eminem. Also I like Remy Ma... wub.gif
_hAiLO_
Personallities, characteristics and opinions can go only so far...I hate the remix, I wish it were never done. Yet my friends like the remix soo much better.

laugh.gif
RH2097
I really don't like rap anymore. Rap and hip hop used to mean more than this 'bling bling' and 'gangsta'. I remember listening to some rap from like 1988 or 89 or something, I really liked it, but nowadays, it is just the same crap over and over again. The only rap artist who I have any appriciation for anymore is Tupac.
Super Pancake
MAn Tupac sold out after his third album and I will give him cred for the fourth, but after that I was not feelin many of his other albums just some songs got my ear, it was clear he walked that line of great artistic talent and mainstream b/s. i don't want to knock on his gangsta life style but I liked songs like "Brenda got a Baby" some street wise poetry that was genuine Tupac in my opinion.
DarkSinister
Thanks for the feedback about my freestyle, i'll try not to slammer any of my work in the future; I'm probably my own biggest critic, haha. Well, I'm looking forward to the lyrics you guys are going to post up! thumbup.gif

"Flap your wings" and "Groupie Luv" were whacked! Totally forgot those songs until you brought it up pancake. Another whack song is "errtime", something like that...it's playing on MTV. Nelly just sucks...but i guess 213 is just a wee big better.

I thought pac had some great songs, but I think everyone trying to imitate him and his success has contributed to what hip hop is now..but yeah..RIP pac.

edit- What are your guy's opinion about Gorillaz(which all sorts of people are liking)?
FLY SPITTA
Gorillaz I don;t really listen to them so I can't comment on them. And I agree with you on 2Pac is being imatated way to much! angry.gif
Super Pancake
speaking of tupac did any of you see Ghetto Gospel, MTV would never play it, I don't watch BET, and VH1 is for the easy listeners, the only channel playing it I know of is telemundo 2 or mun2. but Any way its a great song and cool video, but I question if it is Tupac singing it, it does not really sound exactly like him, i'm not sure about the authenticity of it
Mr. Fahrenheit
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I forgot what I said here.
It's sort of like freestyle I guess. It's often funny but sometimes not.

So here I go.

Glad to be here at UM
Been so fun stayin up till 2 AM

You can come here and do what you do,
Talk 'bout bigfoot or write haikus.

You can come here and be what you are,
Even if you're a bit bizzarre.

Remember: you can think rap is good
without havin' to live in the hood.

To some, rap is art,
Comin' straight from your heart.

To some, it's just noise,
They cover the ears of their little girls and boys.

It's just a way to reflect,
So give the people some respect.

I'm glad I came upon this thread,
or I'd be bored as hell instead,

I realize that was a pretty lame rap,
Maybe soon I should get slapped.

I thank you for the time,
as I realize that the one before this did not rhyme........
_hAiLO_
Here is my try. But I revolved my lyrics all in THIS beat, Tony Yayo's 'So Seductive'. Yeah yeah, its them...but they've got the beats.

You can take a bite out of whats so believable/
Evidence isn't more satisfying to whats so readable/
Its a double-edged sword, whatever fits it fits/
Hard to compare from a nice man to a mean 'ole git/

Whos to say my opponent is typin across the line/
I live in UM, its a mystery all the time/
Take it for granted, debating all day makes me weary/
Especially being run over by skeptical theories/

You can say i'm gullable, its a hot guess/
But when we fight each other, it should be like playin' chess/
Now we can put our differences aside, there is no best/
Lets discuss and start over, relieve the stress/

P.S. I did listen to the Gorillaz song once, and they animated their video. Quite the beat, did not pay attention to the lyrics. I could say that their style of approaching music is....unique.

And about Tupac's 'Ghetto Gospel', I hear its a song. Did they feature Tupac in the video by any chance? Cause I remember watching another music video by Tupac, and I could tell that it was after his death because it didn't feature him in it. The song was about how is mom is appreciated(forgot the name). BTW, loved that song.
FLY SPITTA
clap.gif ^ That was hot

I'm gonna kick a quick freestyle I'm having such a bad day...my friends left me we were suppose to be making a cd! And they ditched me and recorded without me! So let me let my anger out!!

I'm seeing a few things wrong with the way that I'm livin'/
So please walk with me I just need a second opinion/

No longer is this on the same level as rap/
This beef moved further these homies turning their back/

I brought them in this rap game showed 'em what it's all about/
And since I brought them here better believe I can take 'em out/

Kinda messed up how I tryed to take 'em to the top/
But don't matter their lyrics could never make a album drop/

They will never get a label at the rate they going/
And i might make their lungs collapse the rate my pump blowing/

that's it took me a second to type that/
And if you think that's hot wait till' you hear me on a track!
_hAiLO_
I liked yours better, hot punchlines. Dude, I gotta hear you on a beat!
FLY SPITTA
Thanks man, like I said I'm making a album I can also put it in MP3 format if you can listen like that on your comp. If you wanna hear the tracks just PM me your e-mail addy and I can give you my tracks. thumbsup.gif
DarkSinister
All three of you guys got some tight flows! Eh pac, why don't you put them on soundclick? You can upload on there and give us the link to it... thumbsup.gif

Gorillaz has a unique sound i guess, different..I have to listen to it some more to make a clear judgement. But yeah, I searched them and found out that deltron 3030 and del the funkee homosapien is in the group.

Ghetto Gospel? Eminem tweaked 2pac's voice so much that it just doesn't even sound authentic at all anymore..kinda disappointed with the latest cd that came out. I'm waiting on Bone Thugs and Harmony. They're in the studio right now...hopefully they'll come up with something fresh.

-edit - spelling error...finals are taking a toll on me...haha
FLY SPITTA
Ok i'll try that when I finish album.

Yeah I think Em messed up Pac's voice in Ghetto Gospel. I don't know it's sad Pac is gone because his music would be so much better produced if he were still here.

They need to get producers like Daz, & DJ Quick to produce it.
Ziggy Stardust
rofl.gif damn, that was the shiz! You got tight rhymes dawg. rofl.gif
DarkSinister
Yeah, DJ Quik is tight, whatever happened to him?

And Dj Quick is still around he makes Mixtapes and he's on Ludacris' newest album The Red Light District. He produces tracks for peoples albums..yea he's still around just gotta look out for him.

Got a question. Is Mike Jones popular in your areas? Here in Southwest Florida he is the biggest thing in the radio. His song "Still Tippin'" feat. Slim Thug and Paul Wall constantly hits number one.

He ain't happenin here in the West sleepy.gif .

The ones I hear in the radio most are the 'romance' songs like Omarion, Frankie J, etc etc. Thats why I tune into 'The John and Jeff Show' everynight instead because I'd rather listen to them bicker.

I know I hardly ever hear Mike Jones on the radio, but I know a lot of people like listening to him around my school though. And on his album he has 1 really good track to his Grandma so I like Mike Jones. thumbsup.gif
