I heard of sanctuary records, but it has mostly rock bands....I know everyone from D12 is going to make a solo album and then they are making a new D12 cd as a group.

I know that Swift is suppose to have next solo cd then Kon Artist & Kuniva together then Proof.

I just wonder why they aint going through Shady records? They are using independent record labels..
Monster Hunter X
well even if i dont know why, i'm glad they arent using eminem as teh forefront to puch their names. Shady records iscrap, and it's about time it went under. When are people gonna realize how dumb eminem is?

I just realized, Monster Hunter, that you started this thread under your old handel. grin2.gif

And yes, Eminem is a worthless hack.

Every album that was released on Shady Records was a success so I highly doubt it is going down under thumbsup.gif
FLY SPITTA
^ Got to agree with you on that. Every album form shady records went at least double plat. 2millon plus albums sold....
arben
Yep. Interscope hit the lottery with Aftermath/Shady/G-Unit records w00t.gif

Speaking of Aftermath- has anyone heard the latest news about Dr. Dre's "Detox" album? Is there a release date yet? Is anyone gonna get it?
_hAiLO_
I didn't hear about Dr. Dre's Detox album, but I would like to hear this! Dr. Dre has a great reputation of being one of hip-hops best producers, I'd like to see the old school come back! And I'd like to hear the works of the guy who is behind 50's/Eminem's/The Game's' and other rappers albums.

Just becasue his albums sell well it doesnt mean that Eminem is a good rapper. he's a lame mofo who is only popular bcuz of his insults and the fact that he's a white rapper. Personally i'd like him to get shot. i dunno, but for someone like me, it's impossible not to hate him.
DarkSinister
Eh, what can you do about it. The really good artists and emcees are being overlook because their syle of music is not popularized.
DarkSinister
On a lighter note, my man Jin has returned to the game as "The Emcee" and has released a single called "100 Thousand Sold". You can listen to it here. It sounds pretty raw and gully and rumor has it that he is going to be on Em's new label? Just rumors as of now...but I think he'll do good with Em.

That's pretty damn harsh, Em's just trying to make a living and support his daughter, he never did anything to you, to wish death on him is a bit out of line, i suggest you check that statement

YEah! I heard of this before, people say its Jin...and some people say it isn't. But yeah, I think he is going to stay in the mixtapes. But I guess Mainstream is something rappers want to embark these days. Maybe Jin will have better luck in a label where color doesn't matter, such as Eminem's....but props to Jin for not giving up.

yeah the problem is people want what sells, not what's real. no.gif I dunno, Xzizibt is highly underrated, but h e's got his strongarm steady going so it's bringing light to the underground scene. or Mike jones and how he lends out his number to reach out to up and coming artists or anyone who wants a shot. we need more effort like that from a lotta the rappers. they know what it takes to make it big adn they can bring it to the playing field.

Well I know Eastwood from death row made a new group called M.O.B. Money Over Bit*hes and they are suppose to be signing to Game's lael Blackwallstreet

Also in September Lil Eazy's debut album is dropping Lil Eazy is EazyE's son
FLY SPITTA
Oh yeah but i forgot to say Eastwood now left death row

And long awaiting for Dr. Dre's Detox album thumbsup.gif
Super Pancake
do contradictions matter to you, this is one part of hip-hop I don't like, how an artist would rap about peace and no war or how he loves his/her kid, momma, and their women. Then on the same album talk about killing somebody and how he gone slap a b****/hoe/what ever they call women today.
_hAiLO_
I don't like those kind of artists...

I gotta comment, Gorillaz "Feel Good, Inc." is pretty awesome. They're from the UK I hear, and they made it all the way here to the US. Thats very impressive. I'm listening to their song right now, and its pretty good. And the animations in their video are pretty cool too.
Super Pancake
The Gorillaz are so underrated, I wish more people got to listen to their stuff in the U.S.

hAiLo don't you agree almost every single rapper do contradict themselves. I don't want to name anybody but to me its almost expected.
_hAiLO_
Very...I guess they have 'Multi Personallities'...I do agree with you. I can't recall any right now, but maybe you can? You are allowed to name rappers...aren't you?
Super Pancake
Well I just don't want to get too critical about it alot of the most contradictive ones are hip-hops most famous rappers of all times dead or alive. I just don't want to drop names and show how fake the rapper might be and start an argument with some hardcore fans here.

I'll point out this one Eminem since not everybody is a fan of him, in his album he would rap about how he loves his daughter, and is against the war and the presidency, and he even got a song about not wanting to have beef. However on the same album or another album, talk about drugs, killing his wife, sex, cursing out his mom, and killing people that look at him the wrong way, and a big ass on a b**** he would love to tap.

Now why would you have a song about your daughter, then a song that just degrades and objectify women on the same album. Doesnt he care that one day his daughter will hear it?

Why would you have a song against war and the president, then expect people to take you seriously when you talk of b*****s, fags, and your momma?

Why would you rap about not being part of a beef, looking all pussy and sh**, then talk about killing random innocent people or people you got beef with?
_hAiLO_
Sometimes freedom of speech can go too far these days. But your right, Eminem can rap about what he wants, but he will rap about the most confusing and contradicting things. Right now I can't tell you what Eminems state of mind is except what I envision 'A Messy Room'. There are things everywhere, and you just can't pin point the direct state of mind of this person, it can get confusing.

Are there any rappers who don't contradict themselves in your opinion? My guess is that there is none. Like what you said before, the rap game can be full of contradicting rappers. I think I guessed that because I couldn't think of any rappers who didn't contradict themselves.

I guess the only artists who can't really contradict themselves are the other genres, where I commonly hear romance songs laugh.gif .
Super Pancake
Many of the underground rappers don't contradict themselves the Hieroglyphics is one Cannabis is often consistent, Immortal Technique,he be all over the place buy his lyrics don't contradict themselves, and how about Talib Kweli, Common, and Mos Def and rappers similar to them.

I don't buy the fact Eminem is this messed up dude, I just think he does it for the money, because through his rhymes you do here a conscious rapper, not some guy who just say sh**.

QUOTE
commonly hear romance songs

I know its a joke but I've heard Jazz music that is more hardcore then a fifty cent record.
about:blank
When it comes to any of the rappers. They go through stages. Just as any other normal person. The only difference is what they say is forever stuck on an album.
For example, If you listen to Em's "Slim Shady LP" you will see he talks about doing drugs, killing people. Then by "The Eminem Show" he is targeting politicians and trying to bring politics into his game. He is just changing. opinions change and emotions change after different experiences. We may have thought Coolio was a great rapper when he came out, but as time went on we could see that he was horrible, but if we were in the spotlight at that time people would constantly bring up, "Oh that dudes a fool, he thought Coolio was tight."

When it comes to calling women B!#ches and Hos. I love my mother, but if I encounter a woman acting rude, I will call her a B!#ch. What you call one woman shouldn't determine your opinion for all women. These artist also have women targeting them just to get some cash. I believe Kobe Bryant was targeted this same way. To me and person that uses sex or anything else to get money is a B!#tch and a Ho.

Don't get me wrong, I believe a bunch of rappers are fake, they say they sold drugs and shot people, and unfortunately thats whats selling right now. They are money hungry and willing to say what sells, but as for Em. I have no doubt in my mind that he is real.

First off, People would have uncovered if he was fake, years ago. Benzino would love to prove him fake. His house that he grew up I saw in a news report when it was sold for an @$$ load of money. Last but not least his mom is trashy. She put out an album with ICP insulting Eminem. Thats just foolish, why would any mother do that, no matter what their son said. Seems to me she showed her true colors when she tried to sue him for Ten mil.
Super Pancake
Well thats the thing about Em his newer albums I don't know what to think about them. I remember when I first heard about him before he blow up he was hardcore, then he got with Dre, Dre did not want he did Em to come out hardcore so we got these two gimmick funny obnoxious white guy album the first two mainstream albums I'm speaking of the other two before it I think one of them was called Infinite which is my favorite of all the albums he released. Anyway It just got me wondering why! We got the hardcore Em, then gimmick Em, Then this grown up, I'm a dad Em.

I know Em is smarter then that why did he have to sell out in the first place, this is what I think is causing the contradictions in Hip-hop music, selling out pleasing producers and the dumb mtv public! I think Em grew up long time ago he just wanted money.

And about the b*****s and hoe thing I was not talking about how a man would treat a rude women, What I meant was of the tracks that degrade and objectify women sexuality, its unnecessary and a negative message in my opinion.
about:blank
I must agree with you about Infinite. I heard it for the first time only a few days ago, after downloading it. It is great, he should re-release it, and not change any of it. It was weird for me because I had never heard it and to think of him then, and then listening to Encore. It's just a huge jump.

"I know Em is smarter then that why did he have to sell out in the first place, this is what I think is causing the contradictions in Hip-hop music, selling out pleasing producers and the dumb mtv public! I think Em grew up long time ago he just wanted money."

I agree he played out his angry, rebellious teen lyrics, but I think he enjoyed doing it. I heard his "first album" (Slim Shady) at the age of 12-13. He hooked me with all that rebellious crap, but he keeps me listening by dipping into politics and insulting celebs that I would like to insult. He understands his fans and the market very well. He is one hell of a business man. And yes MTV is satan.

Yes the sexually objectifying women is offensive in some ways. If you look at the videos though. It's not as if the women are forced to dance and dress like hos. 99% of people have a price to go against what they think is right. I think both the men and women of hip hop need to check themselves before young boys walk around shooting eachother and the young girls start wearing make up at 3 and slutty clothing at 5. I agree it is irresponisble as an artist.

I never thought of it that way! I did kind of like how he made fun of celebrities especially britney spears and nsync.

Yo any of you guys going to see Hustle and Flow Link 1 Link 2
Monster Hunter X
Personally, I'd like to see more of Baby D. He's a pretty dope ass rapper from the underground of ATL. He's recorded with some big name rappers, but you dont normally see him around.
_hAiLO_
I might see Hustle and Flow, seems likea very good movie. Maybe a little like 8 Mile, huh?

I remember watching a documentary about bad azz records, Eminems 'Slim Shady LP' was one of them. A lot of expressions of anger and hate. I'm going to be honest with all of you, and i'm thinking a lot of you will disagree with me. I think Eminem is one of the realist people in the Rap industry. He'll say what he wants, i'm surprised that none of his hit songs haven't spoken about 'Ice' or 'Bentlies', he is obviously rich.

The Slim Shady LP spoke a lot from his mind, what he though of people including his mom, and about his past. He said everything in his mind, and I don't think thats being fake. I do think he does this to make money, but what he raps about isn't to fake...everyones gotta make their money...

And I also think MTV/BET/VH1 is Satanic devil.gif

hustle and flow IS just like 8 mile pretty much. except that he's a pimp with 1 ho, no wonder he's broke! tongue.gif but nah it looks like a stupid movie, but i bet the soundtrack is bomb. and the main character is a good ass actor, but it looks really dumb.

also, Eminem is in now way REAL. Come live where i do for all you life, and see if what eminem talks about is anything like life in the hood tongue.gif
_hAiLO_
Yeah he doesn't talk about the hood very much, but is that nesassary to being real? I might have said a mistake by saying he was one of the 'realist', but somewhat real. I'm just saying that because of the Slim Shady LP, thats all.

Ya know, 'Cleaning out my closet' and 'Stan' are off the top of my head.

You got a point there...sometimes I don't like what he raps about, but theres always Underground Rap grin2.gif

thanks for the heads up on Baby D, I hope he ain't no crunk rapper though!

Anyway enough about Em the only real album he got in my opinion is Infinite and all those songs about his kid, after that he did what he had to do for the money.

So do any of you guys listen to female rappers, damn we sound like sexes assholes not one mention of a female rapper in this thread.

Well I mostly like the mainstream girls, underground female rappers don't last long, I used to listen to one rapper I forgot her name but I stop I think she's dead or something, she was kind of weird though.

So I like Foxy Brown, Lil kim (underground lil kim), Old School Salt-N-Pepa, TLC,

But my favorite is Bahamadia you don't know hip-hop if you ain't heard of her you got to look real hard to find the good stuff, and I love Lauren Hill, and Eve

but I can't take Female MC's seriously sometimes especially foxy, Kim, and Trina when they rap about how much dick they suck. laugh.gif

I like Rap...specially Eminem and Jay-Z.

Some of my fav songs....Renegade,Sing For The Moment,Yellow Brick Road.
_hAiLO_
Never heard of those blink.gif

But the female rapper that catches most of my interest would be Terror Squads Remy Ma tongue.gif

Terror Squads not that bad for a mainstream. If you listened to their last album 'True Story', it had some pretty good stories like 'Pass Away' for example. Too bad it didn't sell too much, big bomb failure...sold around 100,000 I hear...bummer

Eminem IS one of the realist people in the rap industry. Like I said, If he was fake he would have been exposed a long time ago during the intense beefage. He is one hell of a business man, that got lucky because people want to hear about his messed up past.

Another reason I respect Em is cause if he doesn't like you, you will hear about it. He doesn't just sit in interviews whining about other people. You fire at him he fires back. I believe many people have avoided beef with him because of that reason. And those who don't avoid it... Well Uh? Benzino who? Non existant!
Basically lyrically, cash flow, fan base, Em is unstoppable.

DMX becoming a pastor is a little hard for me to imagine. Sometimes when I go to BlockBuster, I come across 'Never Die Alone' and see DMX on the front cover holding a gun (shotgun perhaps?).

Anyway, coming out of a Pastor to becoming a rapper again is probably expected. When Ma$e released 'Welcome Back', there was no Parental Advisory laugh.gif

Do you think hip-hop is being to commercialized like Punk Rock music, used to be cool when everybody hated it now every body loves it and, the true fans of Pnuk hate it now.

I just tired in listening to stupid music, I grew up listening to a lot of Jazz, Classical indian, western classical, and japanese music, very complicated stuff to listen too. And I'm finding hip-hop to be just recycled stuff, I hear over and over agian, by now we all know their if a formula in hip-hop that sells. simple beat and simple rhyme with a punchline, plus a flashy video. I just saw the so seductive video today since when two gangster danced together like boy bands alone in a video.

Any way I'm thinking about stop listening to that junk. Even underground i picked up some album by this new guy forgot his name but he raps just like fifty but sound a bit like Dre. Underground (I'm talking about new underground artist) is following the trends of the mainstream and vice versa, I don't see the difference no more!

and compared to old school today I don't hear that passion for the music in todays artist voices, thats when you know its for money and not music, with a few exceptions like Kanye West you can hear in his voice he is about the music in most of his songs.

And hAiLo you think DMX is being a patsor is wierd what about Bishop Don Magic Juan? He actually is a pastor, I think the guy is a sh** of a man talk about setting the civil rights movements back anothe 100 yrs, since when being a pimp was a respectable profession.
