Controlling a PC and robotics with his thoughts, That is awesome!!!

hmm.gif Apparently not then

Interesting. A good start. Hopefully, non-invasive technigues will be refined as opposed to, as in this case, an implantation.

I've also seen this used in conjunction with artificial limbs. A man had a new arm grafted on and was able to move the flingers and arm joints of the articifical limb simply by thinking it. AMAZING stuff.

But scary. Give it 80 years, we'll all be sitting in chairs doing nothing but thinking every action, our actual limps weathered away because of the lack of needing them.

so
BurnSide
so?

If we become overly dependant on technology then in the event of it failing, we will all face a situation where we cannot hope to survive!
Bizeebutt
Guess what... we might see a new evolution if this happens... Burnside, if our limbs wither away, what are the anit-evolutionists gonna say then?? mwuahahaha MWuahahaha MWUAHAHAA

we are already dependant on technology too much. The world would be in chaos if all computers shut down. The world economy would crash, no lights, no food, no fresh water, no money, no fuel, no electricity,

Nothing, We now fully rely on our systems. If they fail, we are screwed tongue.gif

Without Computers, the world could function no.gif

We do seem to be, as a global society, increasing reliant on technology to "manage" affairs. Whereas the incorporation of technology is certainly welcome, reliance is not and potentially dangerous.
I feel more "free" walking in a natural forest with little other than myself, as opposed to having with me a satellite cell phone, radio, mini-TV, chemical light sticks, etc...
Sure, I feel more safe, but not more free.

I would be THRILLED. I love nature, Its not uncommon for me to dissappear days at a time and go camping with nothing but a pocket knife and a nylon sleeping bag.
whoa182
It doesnt matter if you love nature tho lol... The world still couldnt function, every industry would stop lol

Yes I like to go camping n stuff too for a few days. But I cannot honestly say I could do without any technology.

its not really how it would affect you personally, but how it would affect the world as a whole. Businesses couldnt function anymore. Because we take technology for granted... The majority of people would not be able to cope a few days without technology. For reasons I mentioned above, But there is even more than that.

everyone remember when like the whole east coast lost power and people were sleeping on the streets in new york, times that by like 10, but in anycase we all got through it, if our technology was to fail, wed be able to hold our own till we got it back up again, we are not a weak species people, dont let our dependance on technology fool you, think of technology like heat in your house, its nice when you got it but when you dont you dont die
Thanato
But we got wood stoves dont we LOL, well it would be interesting to see what would happen if Technology faild all over the world for a few weeks. Tho i would miss all my shows and talking to my friends via the net, and well Coming on to UM. but hey

Would have to hunt for me food.

And I wouldnt. I could step out my back door and get some food from my garden.
whoa182
How would you get fresh water tho... The world would be in chaos. Eventually no fuel to transport fresh water or food
