Is Dark matter and dark energy the bond between matter and energy?

Any information on dark matter and energy? Any opinions on what it is?

Thank you for your comments

Is Dark Matter/Energy only related to black holes?

I can't seem to find very much information I can understand, Something about a vector range is 3D and a scalar range is 1? ha ha I got no clue...

thank you

Hi, choices,

I think this link may give you some answers:

That was a good link...but weird I ened up at the site of MACHO N.A and AUS...Is this project complete? Why is there no information past 1997? Did They achieve there project goals or do you know?

So do we still not know what dark matter and energy is? Do you know what the equation is they are trying to solve?

Thanks

Here Antares I will give you the link if your interested

no one even knows if dark matter actually exists, its just very probable that it does

Dark Matter does exist, but it still isn't known what it really is. Dark matter is simply matter we can't see directly by using any telescope.
Dark matter doesn't give off any type of electromagnetic radiation, infrared radiation, radio waves, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays or gamma rays.
How we know it exists is through the gravitational effect it exerts on visible matter in the universe. We can actually see this effect in the rotation of galaxies, among other things.

Although we know dark matter exists, we don't know what it really is, and some ideas are that it could be some type of MACHO(Massive Astrophysical Compact Halo Objects) or WIMP(Weakly Interacting Massive Particles) or possibly neutrinos(still not known for certain if neutrinos have mass).

Homer do you know of any other projects other than MACHO? They have not gone any where with the information since 1997- either that or they got a new site they don't advertise?? I just don't understand where the project went....I guess I will asume the project was inconclusive??

Thank you

I did some more research and now I wonder the same question is dm the bond of matter and energy?

I learned that we have detected Cold DM and Hot DM, both are found with in the earth flowing...don't know which direction but that is what I read so far.

So Shai... would it be like there is a layer of energy/ layer of Dark energy / layer of Dark Matter and layer of matter?

So if I looked in a microscope of some sort... ha ha...I would see these layers in this order like atom proton nucleuos I probably spelt that wrong ha ha go ahead laugh at me...I would

Thank you

Ha ha...sorry Shai...Atom , then Nucleus, then Proton..Good one eh?

hey homer thanks for that info, i did not know that, this is why i love this place

Hi choices,

thanks for the link. Seems like the MACHO project is closed now, but the scientific community uses extensively the MACHO database. There were several papers in 2004 based on results from the MACHO project but not related to dark matter. However this is not my field of expertise so it is quite possible that there are some recent papers out there regarding this issue...

choices
Antares...May I ask you what your expertise is? You seem to have some good info on dark matter is Dark matter related?

Funny you mention that there was some research released in 2004 from the macho project but unrelated to dark energy or matter...I noticed that each quarter Macho seemed to lean towards a much different aspect...it was as though they found what they were looking for and instead of it answering any questions it created more....I do understand how that works ...ha ha ha...

Thank you

Yes you may original.gif My field is Atmospheric science. I have some basic knowledge in Astrophysics because I specialized Astronomy during my master's in Physics...

Usually the scientific projects last for few years, depending on the research grant. It seems to me that MACHO was successful at least to some degree to clarify the gravitational lenses issue. It is encouraging that people still use their database, meaning that more research will come out of the project and will be published. There are several scientific publishings databases that you can search on a regular basis for new articles published on the subject. One of my favorites is: ISI Web of knowledge
Unfortunately you need to pay subscription to use it... Most universities have it for free though...
