Any body have any info on this? Its been in the news for quite a while and seems to have gotten no where. http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200412/s1261785.htm
QueenoftheNight
looks like a sad lonaly whale. Or maybe just a loner who is enjoying singing by himself. who knows?
Heavens Angel
I agree with Queenofthenight it looks like a very sad lonely whale unsure.gif

I agree. The chance of it being a single unknown kind of whale is slim, but not impossible. But it seems more likely that it may be a rogue from whatever species it is for having learned it's song improperly. This has been documented to happen with birds sometimes, so I'd speculate it could happen with whales..

I've heard about this before. Is said that it is most likely a rogue whale just 'singing' a new song,a rare emotion it feels maybe...
Mad Manfred
I'm going to stand by my statement from the last thread on this...

That its the last of it's kind, or...a member of a so far undiscovered pod of whales that has become separated from them.

Not unlikely given the immense size of the oceans, eh.

Yeah, we've discussed the same article before in a thread...

Pretty fascinating with its frequency pitch. I said before it was probably either a mutation or a starting of a new species...
Lord_Kazius
i agree that it is most likely a rogue and the theory on it learning its song wrong is interesting. it could have also suffered damage to its vocals causing its song to be different or could be an a different species, only time will tell.
Dezmond
Maybe a whale male going through puberty??
Does it take whales long to get mature.
Sanidia Vortez

interesting, but as she says she doubts that it is a new species but hey it could be wacko.gif

Um yah....a mutation is kinda how new species get started....so they are kinda the same.......

But yah it looks a lot like a Right whale....i think...im not that good at clcifiing things but it just looks a lot like one from that picture...

so it probably was a offspring of a pair of average whales... and somthing in their genes got activated causeing the baby to have weird vocal noises and since the voice was so different the pod couldn't recognize it therefor losing it where as it grew up wandering all alone....

mellow.gif dontgetit.gif sad.gif The poor whale... there must be another one out there some where we should find it and like record it and then luer them together then they could Live Happily Ever After. grin2.gif tongue.gif

I have to agree maybe it's pod didn't like his version of the song and then just left him. crying.gif But I don't know if it could be a new species though. huh.gif

Think evolution people. It happens much faster in the oceans then on land. And just because we're here doesn't mean everything will stay the same, or as we want it to.
