Actually, I've heard the myth originated in Eastern Europe among Hungarian Peasants attempting to explain strnage disappearences of animals and villagers, so they created a monster (what the vampire always really was and always will be) as a tool to help them understand their world in an age without any real science.

On another note, vampires, however fake they may be (which they are) are described as monsters, beasts, and the like, they are animals, not suave figures or shape-shifters. They are mindless beasts, go look up Nosferatu, thats a lot closer to what the original vampire was.

Some cultures got the vamps from that tribe though.

There is a condition where peolpe have a lack of haemoglobin in their blood. and some people (the weird ones) dont go for treatment but instead drink blood. it just so happens that human blood has the most haemoglobin in it...hello vampires.

If you beleive that Vampires exist, then you are quite right. The first recording of such events happened in the 4th Dynasty while the Pharaoh Sneferu was in rule. He nephew was found with bite marks in his neck, that was not caused by any asp or snake, that bite marks were too far away to be even consided as such. Whats to say that vampires can only survive on blood? with all the dieases around then due to poor health they would have had to adapt somehow. The notion that vampires can not exist during daylight hours is bull, they just cannot function at 100%. I think some of these other people have more reseach to do, before they go knocking down others.

You're quite right, because there's never been any record of abnormally large snakes and they knew every single species back in Sneferu's time. Nor has there ever been any record of people being murdered and the crime covered up by making it look as if it was a vampire or other legendary creature people had superstitions about. I hope you can at least recognise sarcasm when you see it...
Look, no one's here to knock anyone else down, it's just that some people have short tempers when it comes to others waltzing into a topic and saying "such and such is real" without any discernable or coherant reason to believe so. The fact is, vampires and many other creatures may or may not exist, we'll never know unless we bag one for real. You must consider that there are two sides of every story and most of us are trying to provide two logical arguments.
Also, if that's the only information you have to add to the debate, I think YOU need to do more research, because that one little snippet isn't going to cut it. You can't expect people to just fold because of something that happened so long ago it can't even be substantiated. Especially when there's no proof that the incident was even recorded correctly, and for that matter, translated correctly. If you're going to go accusing others, try to make sure you're not being hypocritical first.

HI i'm unsure if vampires are real or not, i know for sure that i have not seen any in my life.But we never know, maybe were not meant 2 see them, maybe there are in the deepest part of Mexico, there are alot of mysteries in the world and vampires have been one for years.Maybe they just stay as bats and not change into humans as there cover up, then 1 day will never know.They might be smarter than us or maybe not.It's a mystery.

I have no idea what that was about, but I have a theory that there is one person out there who keeps making new accounts and makes a couple posts then abandons them and makes another to convince us there is a large number of people who believe in vampires, something a rational minded human being could not do because of the apalling lack of science and even biological support for such an organism.

All animals associated with blood sucking, have existed for millions of years. We have existed a long time but still we havent had tio adapt the way these things have. As far as people are concerned we evolved from apes. But do we stop have we reached the pinnacle of human evolution, who knows? In this day in age humans have no need to suck blood do they?

If people think the vampires that appear in their favorite horror are real, then maybe they need a reality check. The fact is, vampires do exist. Vampirism has been around for centuries. It is still practiced in households throughout the world as a matter of fact. There is nothing supernatural about vampires (again, I am using this in the 'literal' meaning, not the movie-type). They drink blood for spiritual purposes. Some do it in ceremonies, some do it in their spare time. There is no need to nag on people for saying they are a vampire, as long as they are actually informed in to what they're claiming to be... Listening to some of you guys is making my ears bleed... Do some research before you jump to uneducated conclusions. Don't claim to be sure of anything, unless you know. Perhaps some of todays 'vampires' are just obsessive movie fanatics, but drinking blood is nothing new to humankind, and that is the point I am trying to make...

#2 Posts like this are one of the multifarious reasons that I have made my claim that all "vampires" are attention starved teenagers, too many exclamation points, all caps, no proof or attempt to even relate a story that might be able to substantiate a vampire rumor. I think it is obvious you are a teenager, most likely either an "anime kid" or a goth (sorry for any offenses taken by the general public") and are just angry that we are in the process of disproving the existence of vampires to hundreds of people, because possibly you deem yourself a vampire and have for some time to get the attention you feel you deserve and to have people marvel at your "dark and tortured inner self" but in reality that does not exist and you just need a few really good, close friends.

Is it just me or are people starting to think of vampires a some kind os new species? Films like Blade and Underworld imagine them as having evolved liked humans have and try to make them biologically plausible but originally vampires are a sort of demon or evil spirit e.g crucifixes causing harm no reflection etc.The only vampires real are bats
