Hi everyone I need some help, about four months ago me and my brother were walking to my local target, it was a normal Fall day around 5 P.M. not that cloudy anyways I live in San Jose CA so there is not much wildlife out here and plus it is really crowded and industrial. We were about half-way there when we passed a gated mobile home park, the kind elderly usually live in, and there was some bushes by where we were walking, in those bushes we saw this gray mammal looking thing, it was too small to be a dog(plus it was not doglike) and it was too big and muscular to be a cat(also it was not that catlike) we only saw the back of it, it had sharp nails curly hair at its elbows but short rough hair on its body, it jumped on the fence to the mobile home park we glanced at it one more time, and this is the weird part, it had wings! then it went into the mobile home park

CHUPACABRA!!!
Deimos
my advice: find another place to go shopping. seriously. or you could get a gang of people and hunt it down. but yeah, sounds like a chupa.
Uversa
Too small to be a dog, but too big to be a cat?

Cats and dogs come in all types of sizes man, I think you gave it away with that description mr....
BurnSide
Started off pretty good. But yeah, cats and dogs can be any size. And once the thing sprouted wings, sorry, the game was up.
Mysteryman
Sounds like chupa or sounds like bull...(just kidding), but otherwise...Yeah, the only thing I could say to that is chupacabra. Can you draw what you saw to give us a better image and attach it?
Canadian Rottweiler
Yeah,i'm goin with chupacabra.Did it look anything like one of these?...

are any of those pictures chupacabras?

anyway it does sound like a chupacabra, although who knows....

innocent.gif

Mysteryman
Well those pictures are what are believed to be chupacabras, models supporting what a chupacabra looks like etc.

The first one is an unknown anonymous taken picture with an animal climbing a tree. Someone on our forum once de-edited it and found out it was photoshopped.

The second picture is a drawing of what someone thought the chupacabra was based on an encounter.

The third and fourth pictures are pictures taken by roadkill. The animal looked totally unidentified and so they checked it out...Believing its a chupacabra.
mr_halo

i myself never imagine a chupacabra to have fur....

i don't know why....

just seems furless to me.....

Well the truth is, no one really knows what a chupacabra looks like based on hundreds of encounters and totally off descriptions. So we can't say what a chupacabra actually has if we don't even know what it looks like in the first place.

hmmm wings would suggest a jersey devil like creature, rather than a chupacabra

Apocalyptic Cryptid
Um yah...it sprouted wings?? hum...i think it was your imagination...cuzz i know of no living and or extinct animal that can sprout wings in an istant.... they would have to be sucked inside the body which i see no room to keep a set of wings...inside the cest cavity...or anywhere else for that matter.....sorry...

oh and... if it was mamal like... i dont see it having the 6 apendages caled for for it to be like ...pegasi.....ish like it has 4 normal legs then a pair of wings....
Mysteryman
Wait...And this thing was just out in public, on a fence? And then flew away or atleast walked around with wings...Hmmm? Strange...Suspicous...

when did medium sized dogs start jumping 10 foot fences? plus it looked nothing like a dog this thing was freaking weird, it was thin and ultra muscular, no cat is that big. and the things on it's back, i made them out to be wings, sorry if you disagree with me but i know what i saw was no dog!
spaceghoste
I live in a more desolate side of San Jose, the old side, the area where farms and fields existed in the late 90's, so it is not that open, plus it was late, and it was a back street, when i first saw it the front part of its body was behind a bush and all i could see was the second half, i tried looking behind the bush but it just jumped right on to the fence and perched for a second, i saw it had two flaps of skin on its back, the same color as it's body, of course it was a quick glance, so i figured the only way that thing being the size of a medium dog could only get up there with some sorta super strength or wings, it was just a thought. anyways chupacabra,demon,jersy/san jose devil, what i saw was not normal I dont have a scanner so ill try to draw it on the computer the best i could, and i never saw its face because even as it jumped over the fence it did not look at me.
DarkSide
Sounds 'iffy' to me.. I just hope there isn't going to be another chupa out break on the forums, right now its like 'mytical creatures' month or something.

Actually a medium sized dog can jump atleast 10 feet, my small dog (maltese, poodle cross) could jump atleast 5 feet. Also I saw this dog once that was trained to jump up into the top of 12 tires stacked up.
crazy_boy
I saw a pic of a chupacabra with wings, but it was just an artists impression from a sighting,I'll find it

The question is how could you see details when it was dark outside? Maybe these flaps were shadow trickery?

By the way, what colour was this creature?

QUOTE(spaceghoste @ Jan 19 2005, 02:57 PM)
of course it was a quick glance,

What does this mean? You only got a quick look at it, but you were able to get specific details, especially since it was late at night? huh.gif

How about we substitute super strength or wings with agility and ability, and we have a description of a cat.

Or you saw a cat...

To sum it up:

You were walking home, and in the bushes you startled a regular house cat. It was late at night (dark) and the shadows played with your eyes. You mistook features of the regular cat as it quickly ran, and jumped/climbed onto a perch where it did not look at you because it only stayed in place for a second or two.

let's go slowly for you, if you read my first post i said it was around 5 pm which is still daylight but still sorta dark and i said it was the size of a medium dog, show me a cat that big and i might take the idea of a CAT into consideration. even if it was a giant cat it would be too deformed and heavy to jump that ten foot fence in seconds, and this thing was no furry holiday it meant business, it had the most muscular body i have ever seen, and if you want to get in to specifics, i looked at it for about 2 seconds while it was behind the bush a milisecond while in the air and 2 seconds while perched so it was about a five second event.

Yes I realize you said 5pm in your first post, but by you saying it was late I assumed it was another detail that you left out.

w00t.gif

Alright so in a span of five seconds (2 behind a tree) and probably more than a millisecond when it jumped into the air, and probably a second while it was perched you were able to get specific details? I would think a 5 second look at a moving creature as fast as you say it was wouldn't provide much specific detail.

What would a Chupacabra be doing in San Jose CA where there is "not much wildlife out here and plus it is really crowded and industrial." anyways?

your exactly right i said there was not much wildlife out there, but i never for a second thought it was a chupacabra, i just don't know what it was, i said it could have been anything but i still highly doubt it was a normal house cat, plus it's hind legs looked nothing i repeat nothing like a cat, it was gray it had rough hair and it was the size of a medium dog. I am not trying to say i have a mythical creature in my town but i want to know if anyone knows of anything like i described. please if anyone has any useful information please post.

You know why? You never did see it while it was standing still because the bush was blocking view of the cat. The only time you really had any glimpse of it was when it was running, and in the air, which would make the cats legs look a whole lot differently.

QUOTE(spaceghoste @ Jan 19 2005, 03:43 PM)

I would expect a cat that had been on the streets to be rough looking...

QUOTE(spaceghoste @ Jan 19 2005, 03:43 PM)
and it was the size of a medium dog.

Instead of saying the size of a medium dog (Since there are many breeds which have different medium sizes) Just tell me -roughly- how long and how tall it was (in inches) I'll still have my doubts cause a cat in action's size would be hard to judge.

QUOTE(spaceghoste @ Jan 19 2005, 03:43 PM)

There really is no useful information. If you noticed, people on the first page said "Chupacabra" right away without thinking about it. I've seen many thread where someone "describes" something they saw, and people would just exclaim "Chupacabra." How is this when people automatically classify anything they aren't sure about as a Chupacabra? Is it at all useful since no one has ever see or gotten proof of a Chupacabra existing (Not to mention demons or the jersey or san jose devil)?

We all know what a cat looks like, and what it can do and this is the only useful explanation you'll get in this thread.

Edit:
And, I don't think I did so... Welcome to the Forum! thumbsup.gif

Well, what ever it is, DO NOT hurt it! Don't go looking for it, you might hurt it then it could attack. Any way, animal cruelty is horrible.
Hotoke
kill it post pictures here and if it is a known animal bury it in your backyard so nobody will find out

could that really be confused with a potential chupacabra or jersey devil?

i think if you saw that, you'd know what it was....

It's wings were probably blended in with it's fur,so when it's wings came out,it looked like they 'sprouted'.
