To be honest i always looked on the Bigfoot,Yeti Sasquatch whatever you want to call him as being just one step beyond. That is until i saw the programme on TV last night that followed the trail of the Forest man who was seen during the Vietnam war in Laos.
This area of the world has huge huge rainforests and new species are being discovered all the time there.Anyhoo during the war in Vietnam a lot of activity took place around the forests in Laos and was often interrupted by unknown types of Ape ...the newspapers at the time were full of this....This thing was described as aggressive and attacked soldiers on site ...(hey wouldnt you if they were bombing the sh** outa your home).
Antway one was captured in Laos in 66 showed up in the states in 67......was trotted around for a year or so in a freak show and then dissapeared ....the carnival owner has always maintained he doesn't know where it ended up.
The locals are well aware of these guys and have been warned since childhood to be very quiet in the forests or these guys can get you.....great programme and a real eye opener.......Yeti ?.....Yesi !
The programme was on Discovery Channel and part of the asian enigma series

No defintely not MM ....they interviewed American soldiers that had been attacked by these...they called em Rock Apes because they used to hide in the trees and batter the patrols with rocks in the jungle. They stood upright and had almost humanlike features but were very hairy.....they took extreme exception to their territory being encroached.......The Ironic thing about it now is that the Vietnam war has actually made it safer for them because there are so many unexploded American bombs lying about in Laos that huge parts of the jungle and country are now no-go areas....it's just to dangerous....there are still on average 17 deaths a year in Laos from unexploded american bombs, the rainy season covers them with muck and makes them extremely hard to find.
An ideal place now for these guys to hide away.

Hmm, sounds interesting the more I hear about it.

They sound very much like white man's first few encounters with Organgutans decades ago...

I found a little bit of additional info about them. Apparently, there are several names for the "wild men" around this region. They may be (or not) all the same. However, one is often described as larger than the others. The local names I found for them are: Nguoi Rung, Khi Trau, and Briaou. It is speculated they are similar to the Alma.

Some links..

Probably the best site: Background, Info, sightings and Links..

Lastly, a GI's story of an encounter

Very few reports in recent years leading some to believe they have died off or fled to more remote areas.
