Never tried these before...I'm curious so I thought I'd give this one a go:
www.project-entropia.com
It's free (which is cool because I'm a cheap SOB) and a reasonably small download. It has roughly 2 or 3 million people active apparently.
So what do you think? Are MMORPG's lame? A waste of time? Silly? Cool? Great? Fun?
Any info from people with experience with any MMORPG's or this one in particular would be greatly appreciated!

from what I have gathered from friends of mine , they are extremely fun . BUT they consume a lot of your time , and literally suck your time down . I dont play them that much because while they are indeed fun it just takes too long to actually do anything . I dont have that kind of time .

I play Neverwinter Nights a lot...the unfortunate knock on effect, however, is that after playing NWN, every other mmoprpg I play ends up rather dull in comparrison.

I agree muchly with Sera, some ae good...but eventually one will make the others look lame....

The game looks literally massive and well-designed for a free game. I'm downloading it to see how good its starting to seem. It freakin' takes a long time to download!
Interesting, I've downloaded the sites promo and you can actually exchange the money in your credit card to PED (Project Entropia Dollars), which is strange but true.
Another crazy auction was a virtual island that was sold for 26 500 USD or 265 000 PED in the online game.

I'm interested in World of Warcraft since I'm a Blizzard fan but I'll probably wait until there are cracked servers or something.

Blizzard are meant to have stopped selling the game until they can catch up with demand.

Cracked servers?
You mean so you don't have to pay to play?
LOL! Oh man. This world is so damn screwed up. The people that put these games online have spent literally YEARS creating and programming, and everyone just wants to find a free way in.
Unreal.
I'm guessing that the whole concept of actually paying for something is taboo now. The new trend is to find a way to cheat the people that have put their own blood, sweat, and tears into a project.
My God this entire universe has a severe problem.

Actually I am quite sure that the amount of people those places hire for security software creation, as well as the people hired to fix bugs and such to stop such things in games, are quite happy with the fact that this keeps happening.....
Without finding flaws, we cannot fix them. These flaws actually help employ many people, and also create smarter programs.... This process helps evolution of the industry, so Im sure most wont be complaining that long.....

cracked servers totally suck. complete moves and magicc are missing there are not enough items. sometimes you cant even attack.playing on a cracked serevr is like having a ferrari without its components. a cracked server makes you want to buy the game and pay for it

I have a friend who makes loads of money off of Everquest. He uses his character to gather tons of money, then sells it to other players in exchange for real United States Currency, of course at a fraction of the price...
So far he's made over $1500 from a few foolish people...

MMORPG's are fun and addictive, but thats the problem...its too addictive, and you live in a fantasy world. First you find yourself playing as an Undead Priest in World of Warcraft, next week you would be conjuring demons

My mate does that too he's made about 3 grand from selling Jedis on E bay for Star Wars Galaxies, but he never ever goes out and smokes Toooooo much weed.
I thing MMORPGs can be very addictive but you gotta chill from it sometimes, and take your time.
At the moment im playing Lineage 2 and lovin it.

I already have to pay money to do all the things you do in those games. I call it life. If I am going to pay money for such things I may as well be saving that money to actually go on an adventure which will be a million times more fun than playing an MMORPG.
That and the games like Star Wars Galaxies you have to buy and then pay more just to play. Seems like a ripoff to me. Especially when the game can never be beaten.

having no job, and being cheap

most of my mmorpg's are free

well I did have to pay for Counter Strike, but just the game. they dont have a monthly fee thing

I do have the sims online, but that was a xmas present and they are also paying the $10 monthly cost

The only game I'd think of paying for would be Final Fantasy XI
