I don't think this has been done yet, if it has please merge it.
So anyway, I go for the West Coast Eagles, who do you guys barrack for and who do you reckon will win the final this year... I know it's a bit stupid guessing before the season starts but I reckon the Eagles

They have Gardner again.
Subtemperate
Jan 24 2005, 05:04 AM
They've had him before

As much as Judd is awesome, I doubt it'll be the eagles...... My bet is on Port again, as they have kept most of their side together...... Although Geelong is my dark horse....
GodzillaRatus
Jan 25 2005, 04:42 PM
Yeh but they only had Gardner for a little while and were winning until they lost him again and Cox had to go on. But I reckon that's good coz now Cox is more experienced to take on the role next time... Anyway my real guess apart from going for my own team would be to say Brisbane... dunno but I reckon they'll be back and angry this year.

After brisbane lost Lynch, Caracella and co, as well as not having Simon Black and Jonathon Brown for a few weeks, they will start behind the 8 ball this year.

I am a good old St.kilda Saints supporter and this year will be our year finally. We only just missed out last year and we wont let that happen again!
With Reiwoldt going for the brownlow and Gehrig for the coleman medal again!
Subtemperate
Jan 29 2005, 11:45 PM
St Kilda? They will fall away like they doevery other year after the year they play well...
AztecInca
Jan 29 2005, 11:48 PM
With the skill and talent of our players we will at least be in the finals there is no denying that!
Subtemperate
Jan 29 2005, 11:51 PM
Im sure you will....and after my sides dismal last year I am hoping we start the rise again....

Jan 29 2005, 11:57 PM
St.Kilda has to play Brisbane in round one of the actual premiership season up at thr gabba mbut I think brisbane have just started to fall away and St,kilda is still on thr rise, we may finally be able to beat them up there!
Who do you support subby?
Subtemperate
Jan 30 2005, 12:00 AM
I would say you SHOULD beat them up there this year, considering the players they wont have.
Im in melbourne.... I could tell you, but I shant put it in black and white....
AztecInca
Jan 30 2005, 12:05 AM
Lol! You do have some good players and should have done much better last year if I am thinking of the right team here. All I can visualise is Eddies head!
I do think you are definately finals material!
Subtemperate
Jan 30 2005, 12:15 AM
I do to, last year we lost:
Buckly, Tarrant, Rocca, Burns, Prestigiacomo, Didak.... All would be in our top 10, and our most important players..... we lost them for periods last year, including some matches missing more then one of them......
Not to mention getting our vice captain back in about round 12 last year...
They should impreove from last year, we do have a good list...but our younger forwards need to improve so we don't rely on Rocca and Tarrant to win us games...
AztecInca
Jan 30 2005, 08:12 AM
And as long as frasier and Reiwoldt are both kicking goals we shouldn`t be in any trouble its only when one of them isn`t on their game that we find it a little hard although usually the other players do step up.
Subtemperate
Jan 30 2005, 08:27 AM
Yeah, I expect St Kilda to be in the running again this year.... But this is the true test, they could easily fall away.
AztecInca
Feb 1 2005, 06:26 AM
Yeah for once we need to have good back to back seasons, show that we are a real team that will continue to be competitive for a long time and we need to understand that. St.kilda has struggled to have a good winning atmosphere around the club and we really need that if we are to be successful!

around about 1987 I believe oh yes the 80's what a glorius time it was to be a Richmond supporter.

20 years between finals so far huh....... The tiger really is an endangered species....
AztecInca
Feb 2 2005, 12:14 AM
^lol.
At least with St,kilda, we do actually make the finals quiet regularly but we never manage to win that bloody grand final, being at the 97 one where we lost was heart breaking!
Although we do also end up at the botton of the ladder far more frequently but we wont be back down there for a long long time to come!
Subtemperate
Feb 2 2005, 01:25 AM
The problem with Football, is all you really need is a couple of injuries...and then the whole season is turned upside down. If St Kilda lost Gehrig and Riewoldt through injury, I have the feeling they would struggle a bit....
AztecInca
Feb 3 2005, 12:35 AM
True, true, but we have such a quality midfield that I believe that they woudl step up and kick us the goals we need and if Milne and Guerra are on their game with Kossi we shoudl do alright but it woudl be much harder. We can do it without Gehrig for awile but we need Reiwoldt, he by far is are best player!
Subtemperate
Feb 3 2005, 03:51 AM
Your midfield is good..... Although I dont see them as goal kickers per say.....
Im hoping for a big year from our midfield, if they stay fit they are one of the best....
AztecInca
Feb 3 2005, 06:47 AM
Indeed they aren`t bad at all.
I`m hoping that Carlton and the Western bulldogs have better years this year, they have the potential and hopefully they can at least improve on last years performances. We need more Victorian teams in the top 8!
Subtemperate
Feb 3 2005, 06:55 AM
Yes that would be good...... Hopefully even two Vic teams in the grand fina...If we are lucky enough.
AztecInca
Feb 3 2005, 07:06 AM
Maybe St.kilda and Geelong, that would be a dream Grand final for the AFl ,two Victorian teams with many well know, talented players. It would certainly be a good contest!
Subtemperate
Feb 3 2005, 08:33 AM
Call me crazy, but I have a feeling more victorians would want to see Collingwood in the final, given they have the biggest supporter base
AztecInca
Feb 5 2005, 12:05 AM
Collingwood supporters do certainly make up a massive share of victorian members but now most people will be saying that collingwood have had their chance, two straight grand finals, its now time for St,kilda or Geelong to bring back the cup to Victoria!
Subtemperate
Feb 5 2005, 12:16 AM
Pffft. Geelong supporters shouldn't feel that way...how many finals have they been in in the last 20 years without winning one....
AztecInca
Feb 5 2005, 12:22 AM
True true, but St.kilda have only ever won one premiership and with the team we have at the moment we have our best shot ever, the supporters deserve to see St.kilda win one after everything we have been through, but Collingwood will still be up there as will Geelong and Port!
Subtemperate
Feb 5 2005, 11:55 PM
Buckley is injured already....I feel like crying...
AztecInca
Feb 6 2005, 12:01 AM
Indeed I just saw that last night on the news, his future no longer looks so bright with this reoccuring injury, lets hope he recovers by round 2 or 3, because he really doesn`t have that mnay seasons left especially with this injury constantly striking him down.
For once St.Kilda have no real major injury concerns!
Subtemperate
Feb 6 2005, 12:03 AM
let me at the St Kilda team, I shall help...

Buckely needs to move from the midfield to a flank, this will prolong his career. I feel sorry for him, he has arguably been in the top few players for 10 years.... His consistancy is unparrarelled....I just wish now that he won the brownlow he could win a premiership medal too...
AztecInca
Feb 6 2005, 12:14 AM
He does seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to premierships, for such a talented player too miss out on one would be a travesty to the game just like if Robert Harvey, dual brownlow medalist misses out on one before he retires which isn`t far away.
Subtemperate
Feb 7 2005, 03:34 AM
Some of the best players didn't win Premierships.... and some didnt win brownlows......
Tis a sad state of affairs that some greats arent considered great because they dont have the team success some others do...
AztecInca
Feb 7 2005, 05:32 AM
But I believe St.Kilda can actually go all the way this year and give harvey that glory he so rightly deserves and that all St.Kilda supporters deserve after such a long time since our one and only taste of glory.
Subtemperate
Feb 7 2005, 06:16 AM
Yes...but which team doesnt?
When have Sydney won one? Or the Western Bulldogs..... Geelongs last win was before yours..... Melbourne also have that issue.....
There are a bundle of teams in the same boat, and while only Geelong really have the team that could go all the way out of that list....There isnt one group of supporters who don't deserve to see their team win.
AztecInca
Feb 8 2005, 05:48 AM
True, true.
St.kilda is second favourite to win the Flag this year behind Port and the big movers has been Geelong and west coast who are right up there now. But Brisbane has slipped a bit.
Subtemperate
Feb 9 2005, 06:58 AM
Yes but that means nothing.....
2003 Brisbane met collingwood, and collingwood were favourites (on the day).... meant nothing....
ALthough I certainly understand why those are favourites at this early stage.
AztecInca
Feb 9 2005, 07:11 AM
Indeed, I mean although the odds say St.Kilda is only second favourite to go all the way, everyone knows this year is our year and nothing will stop us from singing Oh when the saints come marching in again and again and again, when that cup is ours!
What I cant understand is that if you win the pre season competition you win more prize money than if you win the premiership competition, it boggles the mind in my opinion!
Subtemperate
Feb 9 2005, 07:14 AM
Yeah it is stupid, but the money through memberships/sponserships from winning the big one is pretty huge, just not a one off payment.
If collingwood meet St Kilda in the finals..... goodbye St Kilda
AztecInca
Feb 9 2005, 07:17 AM
Only in your dreams Subby, we plan on going out and breaking the our record for consecutive wins all over again this year staring with the Wizard cup once again!
Although it would be a very good match!
Subtemperate
Feb 9 2005, 07:23 AM
St Kilda will make the finals, but not like last year.... They need to pae themselves through the season, not go full tilt most of the year, or they will be too tired by finals.....
Collingwood St Kilda would be a great final...... In fact I wouldnt mind losing (of course i hate losing, but its better to lose to a vic team then not)
AztecInca
Feb 9 2005, 07:26 AM
We really need to have an all Victorian grand final or at least a victorian premier this year and with St.kilda, Geelong, Melbourne and Collingwood all looking impressive I do believe there is a good chance of it happening!
St.Kilda do need to pace themselves a bit better thsi year indeed, we did fall apart for awhile but it took 10 or 11 staright wins before we lost a game and we still made it to the preliminary final and only lost by the tiniest of margins!
Subtemperate
Feb 9 2005, 07:28 AM
Yeah they were good in the finals last year..... I was so disappointed when they lost.....
Mind you I was just as disappointed when Brisbane and Port got through.....
