Snuffy.... it is sad we do have a team with green pants....
it would be even sadder if you really did like them....

Mar 13 2005, 01:09 AM
Are they any good? Do they have a nifty mascot? IN that case, I may like them. Most likely, though, I can't be bothered.
Subtemperate
Mar 13 2005, 08:38 AM
Well...they are probably in the better half of the league, but they have an anchor as a mascot

So if your into sailors, then its a possibility.

Mar 14 2005, 05:49 AM
Hang on, is it not purple pants/shorts that they were with just a little bit of green somewhere on their uniform!
Their mascot is indeed very imaginative though, an anchor!
Subtemperate
Mar 14 2005, 05:51 AM
They have been known to wear bothe the green and purple.....
I think ones home, and ones away...but i could be mistaken....
snuffypuffer
Mar 14 2005, 05:58 AM
Hmm, an anchor, like Popeye. Bah, if I cared, who would you recommend?
AztecInca
Mar 14 2005, 06:05 AM
They also have a white and purple uniform for away!

^yes if you want the rest of australia to bag you all day everyday.lol!
At least Collingwood supporters can come back with the amount of premierships they have one, unlike bloody St.kilda....."sigh""sob'......we have one a couple of pre-season competitions at least........."groan"

I like this, where are these cats from
Subtemperate
Mar 15 2005, 05:37 AM
They are from Port Adelaide.... the mid south of Australia....
snuffypuffer
Mar 15 2005, 05:38 AM
I shall root for them, then, since their mascot sounds good and absurd...
Subtemperate
Mar 15 2005, 05:39 AM
Well.... they did win the big one last year..... so I suppose you chose the right team....
AztecInca
Mar 15 2005, 05:45 AM
Ahhh, they will be no match for the premiership deprieved St.Kilda who arguably have the best line up of young talented players and only just missed out on a Grand Final berth by one goal. This year will be our year!
Subtemperate
Mar 15 2005, 05:45 AM
Of course, that just missed out on the grand final thing....was due to the Power.....
AztecInca
Mar 15 2005, 05:51 AM
^No it was due to the supporters running onto the ground when Fraiser kicked his 100th goal, it stopped our momentum in its tracks and allowed Port to get back into the game!
Subtemperate
Mar 15 2005, 05:56 AM
Yes....the St Kilda supporters caused there own downfall. There is something in that for all of us
AztecInca
Mar 15 2005, 05:59 AM
Its sad really, after all our years of waiting we may have stopped our own team from finally obatining that lovely piece of silverware. Yet our team is full of talented players and within the next few years we will be crowned the premiers!
39 years since our one and only premiership, the wait cannot continue!!!!

.....

Collingwood just lost Fraser for 6-8 weeks..... Well... goodbye season 2005.....
AztecInca
Mar 16 2005, 12:13 AM
^Ah never mind, it wasn`t like you could have won the premiership this year anyway!
Nah, just joking, it really depends on who you play in the first half of teh season, if you can manage to win at least half of them you are still in with a good chance to at least make the finals once all your injured players returned.
Isn`t your back-up ruckman injured as well?
Subtemperate
Mar 16 2005, 12:28 AM
Yup.... our ruckman Fraser (202cms) and Richards (200cm) are both injured. Those were our number one and two ruckmen....
We have Cameron Cloke (194cm) and Rocca (195cm) who can play there a bit, and a rookie Fanning (204cm)... but you cant replace your first and second best in any position...
AztecInca
Mar 16 2005, 12:33 AM
True, true, we dont exactly have a strong ruck line-up but we do have players that can step up and fill that role and even do a good job at it. But we really do need a key ruckman like Fraser or Everitt!
Subtemperate
Mar 16 2005, 12:48 AM
Collingwood would probably survive without Fraser in the ruck, tis more his ability to go farward and kick goals. He in my estimation is the best goal kicking ruckman at the moment (everitt is up there too).... and Fraser adds to collingwoods attack, which already struggles to find assistance to Tarrant and Rocca....
AztecInca
Mar 16 2005, 03:19 AM
Yeah, if we lose Reiwoldt we will be in all sorts of trouble, even though we have many many talented players he can just do so much and his presence is invaluable. He is by far our best player in St.kilda and one of the best in the league losing him to injury at any time would be a major set back!

........................I am close to tears....................Playing on the GABBA was a big mistake by the AFl the grass was still far too short from the cricket making it harder than what the players are used to. Then the bloody brisbane players bumping into him, arrgggghhhhhhhhhhhh, they shall pay for this unspeakable crime!
At least its a fairly simple and uncomplicated injury that will heal up relatively quckly and wont affect him in the future.
We should be able to cover for him for a couple fo weeks, its when we ahve to play Melbourne and Collingwood that I`m a bit concerned about. Hopefully he will be back for the game against Geelong, although that may be tto soon. We are going to miss him.............

I go for the West coast eagles, after thier pre season thier bound to go awsome this season, they keep getting better and better so hopefully they will win the premiership .
Subtemperate
Mar 26 2005, 10:55 AM
I wouldn't hold my breath to much. As much as I admire the eagles, and admit they have one of the best midfields in the comp....they need to improve down back, and up forward, to give the premiership a good shot....
AztecInca
Mar 27 2005, 05:46 AM
But they will most likely make the finals and continue being a consistently good club that just doesn`t have that little bit extra to win it all.
With Riewoldt out for so many weeks, Judd will firm as the favourite for the brownlow I would think!
And what about Port getting beaten so easily and having a number of players injured for lengthy periods of time!?!?!?
Subtemperate
Mar 27 2005, 06:01 AM
Fremantle often beat the top clubs over there, the last two years they beat Brisbane (who were the previous premiership team at the time)
I wouldn't read that much into that game.....
However, Hawthorn should just forfit all there matchs now...lol
AztecInca
Mar 27 2005, 06:04 AM
LOL! I agree, after today they should just accept the wooden spoon now!

Mar 28 2005, 08:11 AM
Arrgggghhh......I went to todays match, to watch my side play as well as Greg Norman does in most majors....
I saw a game with exactly the same tactics and result about 4 years ago, when Sydney(then coached by eade) played us..... I would have hoped we had figured out how to play it by now....

I meant Subby could you ? And you could, you do rock.
Ahh well Richmond there an all or nothing team, if you can't be in the top four be the top of the bottom four, there is no inbetween.

I go for Essendon.
They did crap on the weekend!!
I just hope its a shakey start and not because there was no Lloyd. We can't rely on him too much

St.kilda has some good excuses for why we lost such as playing one of the best teams up at their home ground which they beasically never lose at, are key goal kicker hadn`t played a game in over 180 days and our best player injured himself. But that doesn`t excuse our goal kicking which was disgraceful, we missed far too many easy shots.
Well next week we have a chance!
What happened to Collingwood Subby?!?!?!
Subtemperate
Mar 29 2005, 06:24 AM
What do you want, a biography? lol
They sucked...they played a team that flooded, and couldnt beat it. We have had that problem forever.....However, do not take that as collingwood playing badly for the year, collingwood without a doubt will win this week...
AztecInca
Mar 30 2005, 01:09 AM
Yes against adelaide , you should have a very good chance, especially with it being down here at Telstra Dome. We have femantle in Tasmania and that isn`t much of an advantage, but we should still be able to get over the line.
Subtemperate
Mar 30 2005, 01:11 AM
Now that hamill is playing, Im almost certain you will.....
I will go on record as saying that there is no way Adelaide can beat us..... We have to much to prove, and they are coming to melbourne, so its easy for them to have an excuse....
AztecInca
Mar 30 2005, 05:16 AM
Well being a St.kilda supporter I know how saying things like that can back fire but since its about Collingwood against Adelaide down here then you should be right.
I just hopw you touched wood when saying this!

Excellent…an AFL thread. Never realised there was one
My input…caarn the crows!!!
Not that I’m fanatical or anything like that…but them there are fighting words Subby.
Actually, both Collingwood and Adelaide both started round 1 in a similar fashion…taking the lead and dominating for much of their respective matches. Unfortunately, Adelaide lost its defensive strategy in the end and Collingwood ran out of legs.
This should be a great game…and with Buckley out, Adelaide may have the edge
Subtemperate
Mar 30 2005, 01:03 PM
Don't fool yourself, Buckley may be collingwoods best player, but he isn't that much of a difference.... We won that famous final against port without him and such, so now its time for our other players to stand up.....
AztecInca
Mar 31 2005, 05:50 AM
They may have to learn to stand up without him for good now, its not looking good for him. Its really sad when a champion( through gritted teeth then) suffers from constant recurring injuries.
Subtemperate
Mar 31 2005, 05:57 AM
He will be back, but your right he is one of the best collingwood players of all time, even possibly number one...... and to go out like this would be horrible.....
AztecInca
Mar 31 2005, 06:14 AM
After all hes been through he deserves to be part of a premiership winning team, just like Robert harvey, hes been so close a couple of times now and still misses out. Hes a a true St.kilda and AFL champion and desrves that one prize that has alluded him for sooooo long, as does buckley.
Subtemperate
Mar 31 2005, 06:15 AM
Maybe he should come to collingwood, and he and buckley can make a premieship team

lol

No, no ,no Buckley can come to St,kilda we have the best chance of winning it thank you very much. lol!
