Harvey and Buckley are definitely two of the greatest players in AFL.
The youger players should all be gleaming as much as they can when these two are playing.
Subtemperate
Mar 31 2005, 06:30 AM
Much agreed. I think that sometimes people who watch AFL don't quite realise how lucky we are sometimes to watch some of these players.....
Those two in particular have been awesome for over 10 years....
AztecInca
Mar 31 2005, 06:32 AM
And sadly it seems that both their carrers will soon come to an end.
Subtemperate
Mar 31 2005, 06:35 AM
Yep...... But they have both recevied much acclaim, there are many others that wont get the same treatment that have been excellent over time as well.....
The FerryMan
Mar 31 2005, 06:38 AM
Well they're now looking at 'alternative' treatment for Buckley...like they say - the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.
Subtemperate
Mar 31 2005, 06:42 AM
Im sure we haven't seen the last of him yet....... The experts that have been interviewed all seem to think he can get past it....Just he wont have the pace he used to... Which the way he plays, doesn't make that much difference....lol
The FerryMan
Mar 31 2005, 06:49 AM
Very true....even without pace, the guy makes it look all to easy.
Subtemperate
Mar 31 2005, 06:53 AM
Are you really an adelaide supporter.....your too nice

lol
The FerryMan
Mar 31 2005, 07:08 AM
Yep....and cheers.
I believe praise should be given to any great player regardless of the team they play for. You guys have some good players other than Buckley. If Rocca and Tarrant really fire up you guys *cough* may just win *cough*.
But then seven straight losses to you guys will certainly be hard to swallow.
Subtemperate
Mar 31 2005, 07:10 AM
Every team has some great players.
And yes, those who truly love the sport can see the good ones on the opposition....
If those two fire we will certainly do better then this week, however if you dominate in the midfield like the bulldogs did, then we wont stand a chance...
mattew Clarke will get a huge amount of hit outs I would think...lol
The FerryMan
Mar 31 2005, 07:25 AM
I think Actec’s team will be the one’s to watch this season, regardless of their first loss.
If Gehrig keeps form and the Saints defence keep it together…look-out world.

After watching this weekends games....I say....beware the cat.
AztecInca
Apr 1 2005, 05:32 AM
They did only beat the tigers and its only been one round, once we have played 6-8 games then we can start saying watch out for that team or that team.
Subtemperate
Apr 1 2005, 05:50 AM
It wasn't who they beat, its the way they went about it.....
Your right, nothing to get worked up about yet, but I'll be watching them closely....
The FerryMan
Apr 1 2005, 05:57 AM
...we'll all be watching closely.
AztecInca
Apr 1 2005, 06:12 AM
I didn`t see the match so I cant comment on how well they actually played besides looking at the scores and stats. But according to all my mates at school Geelong didn`t really play that well they just played well enough to beat the tigers but up against Port, saints, Brisbane, melbourne they would have struggled.
What do you think about that subby?
Subtemperate
Apr 1 2005, 06:14 AM
Out of all the sides, they were easily the most switched on on the weekend..... and apart from taking there foot off the pedal, should of won by about 100 points.....
AztecInca
Apr 1 2005, 06:18 AM
Yeah, I couldn`t work out why my mates were saying that when Geelong won by sooo much, probbaly because they did take the foot off the pedal when they got enough in front I guess!
Geelong will certainly be a force to reckon with!

Apr 3 2005, 05:51 AM
Oh when the saints go marching in...................
It may only have been by one point but we still won and our 2005 campaign is under way!

Apr 3 2005, 06:47 AM
You wont hear me argue....
AztecInca
Apr 4 2005, 06:38 AM
There, there Subby I`m sure Collingwood will win a game eventually, you have a shot against Carlton next week and you do get to play the tigers in round 8 so thats not too far away!
But now that St.kilda have won, without Riewoldt and without Gehrig playing anywhere near his best, we have that much needed confidence and belief in ourselves and we play on home turf this week against the kangaroos and we know we can beat them. Once te dG-train starts firing and reiwoldt returns we will be a formidable foe indeed!
Subtemperate
Apr 4 2005, 06:44 AM
Dont be so dismissive of North..... They have played some good football so far, and think you'll find them a tough hurdle.....
And on Collingwood, they wont take that long to start winning.... they have had a heap of the ball, but they keep making mistakes, that in itself should start going out of their game.....
I think collingwood have the top 2 people in disposals...... so its not like they aren't working their butts off...
The FerryMan
Apr 4 2005, 06:46 AM
Hey Subby...hard lines.
The game could have gone either way.
That McLeod goal...if he had to do that 10 times in a row, you tell me the odds.
Subtemperate
Apr 4 2005, 06:47 AM
lol....Yeah I know.....
I dont mind losing so much, but watching them play in the first half I wanted to shoot them....
AztecInca
Apr 4 2005, 06:54 AM
^lol, collingwood do have the ability but they just seem to fall at the last hurdle of late.
I agree, kangaroos are a very good side but over our last few encounters we have one them all and quite convincingly and in teh pre-season with only a 1/3 of our regular players we managed to beat a near full strength kangaroos team, only three of their regulars were missing and that will give us some serious confidence over them.
The FerryMan
Apr 4 2005, 06:57 AM
Hey Aztec...the Saints had a similar win.
Have to call round 2 'the week of close matches'.
I wouldn't want to be sitting through too many more matches like that!
AztecInca
Apr 4 2005, 07:03 AM
Indeed, but a win is a win and to come form behind and win by just one point is more valuable to a team than to win by a massive amount. Its shows we have the will and ability to win even aginst the odds!
Subtemperate
Apr 4 2005, 07:04 AM
or it could just show that the opposition haven't...lol
AztecInca
Apr 5 2005, 05:48 AM
.......like collingwood for example, well in the first half at least!
Subtemperate
Apr 5 2005, 07:34 AM
You'll here no argument from me.... especially as you being a St Kilda supporter you have much expertise over the years in that area....lol
AztecInca
Apr 6 2005, 01:20 AM
Yes, the wooden spoons speak for themselves dont they, but all that matters at the moment is how we performed last year and how we will perform this year, the rest is ancient history.
Subtemperate
Apr 6 2005, 08:34 AM
Just remember that there was only 2 points between you winning a match, and losing and being in collingwoods boat.....
Subtemperate
Apr 9 2005, 08:42 AM
....Id just like to point out the positioning of St Kilda and Collingwood on the ladder now...

lol
AztecInca
Apr 11 2005, 02:23 AM
Sigh.............I know subby I know, but as a St.kilda fan I am used to us being down at the bottom and after next week against teh demons we may be far too close for comfort. But once Reiwoldt, kosi and harvs return we will be back in the top eight and above collingwood sooner than what should be possible.
Also the top 4 teams of last year are all 1 win and 2 losses!
Subtemperate
Apr 11 2005, 03:29 AM
As is collingwood.....

We have a tough one this week however, against the roo's..... But at least the game against carlton would give us some confidense..... Also we could get Richards and Didak back, which would be HUGE.....
St Kilda is in for a tough few weeks........
AztecInca
Apr 13 2005, 03:25 AM
Well after Melbourne we only have Richmond and Collingwood, richmond may have won two but they have only beaten the hawks and dogs. Collingwood will be interesting but I think we still have the ability to knock them off. Kosi may even be back by then if we are lucky!
...............then we have geelong and west coast, we are indeed in for a couple of tough weeks but Reiwoldt shoudl be returning by roughly around then!
Subtemperate
Apr 13 2005, 03:38 AM
Yes well, keep in mind collingwood by that time will most likely have Didak, Richards and even possibly fraser back (if lucky)..... So we wont be far from full strength....
AztecInca
Apr 13 2005, 03:55 AM
And St.kilda never seems to be confident aginst Collingwood, they are one of our hoo doo teams, although we did beat you last year and hopefully that will give us the confience we need.
And finally Gehrig is actually kicking goals again!
Subtemperate
Apr 13 2005, 11:00 AM
lol....Dont get too carried away with gehrigs form....
We will have to wait and see, for all I know collingwood could drop away and lose every match till then, as could St Kilda.... We shall have to wait and see....
On a side note.... someone on the radio noted injuries to: Buckley, Hird, harvey, (and voss had an injury scare today).. The era of these champions is about to come to a close...
AztecInca
Apr 14 2005, 05:54 AM
Sadly, that is true, but a new era of champions will replace them with Reiwoldt leading the way!
Buckley, if he recovers shouls still have a few good years left in him as should hird, but for harvs this could be his last year!
Subtemperate
Apr 16 2005, 03:48 AM
Man do I have mixed feelings.....
Collingwood did damn well to almost pinch that game, after losing the player who was dominating.... Rocca kicked 3 goals in the first quarter, and then got injured. I almost think if collingwood cant win 2 of the next 4 they can just kiss goodbye there season, and Rocca is in fact our most important player.....Much more so then buckley (Look at 2003 finals, then the grand final to see the difference)
If hes gone for longer then the 3 weeks expected, then our season is over already....
Subtemperate
Apr 16 2005, 06:21 AM
News from collingwood is that Rocca is out for 12-16 weeks most likely....
Goodbye season.
AztecInca
Apr 16 2005, 08:47 AM
There, there subby, I`m sure you can win a few more matches and even without Rocca and buckley, I thought Collingwood played quite well, not their best, but still it was a fine effort. I woudln`t be writing thw pies off just yet, except of course when you play St.kilda in round 6!
Subtemperate
Apr 16 2005, 09:18 AM
They are written off. He is the one in our line up you can't replace.....
Travis Cloke will now get a quick education on how to play centre half forward, and make his devut next week....
AztecInca
Apr 16 2005, 09:32 AM
Maybe, maybe.
I`m preparing for the worst tommorrow with the might saints going up against the demons who are running hot that the moment. Without Reiwoldt, Kosi or harvs we will struggle, but I`m sure we can put up soem sort of fight. Now gehrig has to find enough form to kick around 10 goals. Hopefully Guerra and Milne can step up and kick a few as well. Hamill will also give us more opportunities up forward.
But I`m tipping our best players will once again be Luke Ball, Nick Dal Santo and Aaron Hamill!
Subtemperate
Apr 16 2005, 09:34 AM
I agree with you, yet I dont like the chances of gehrig kicking that many....
I think im in shock over Hawthorns win today....
AztecInca
Apr 17 2005, 01:45 AM
I know, I couldn`t believe it when I heard it! Well I was happy for hawthorn, to get a win like that aginst a great side is trully an amazing feat and hopefully will inspire them to win many more matches.
And there was a draw last night between port and Carlton, which is bad fo us beacsue if we lose we stay right where we are or drop to the bottom of the ladder!
Subtemperate
Apr 17 2005, 03:08 AM
It has been an odd start to the year, but I have a feeling its going to get even odder.... lol
AztecInca
Apr 17 2005, 05:22 AM
And hopefully that means St.kilda can knock off arguably the best team in the laeague at the moment and maybe Milne will lean when not to play on!

Apr 17 2005, 07:37 AM
Well, you got your wish......
