Yeah, and isn't that a great sight original.gif

If only we could get Port Adelaide down there as well... lol
Almost - Port's down at 4th last rofl.gif Only 2 wins and a pitiful percentage.
Still early days though.

Still early days though.

Indeed. This time last year Sydney were only sitting on 2 wins and 4 losses, anything can still happen.
Subtemperate
Indeed it does, though I think from memory after round 6 last year only one team got into the eight that wasnt currently in there...which was sydney...

AztecInca

Cameron Mooney's bid to have his one-week suspension withdrawn has failed and he will still miss this friday's big match against St.Kilda. Every little bit of help we can get we will take at the moment, we need a couple of wins on the trot to get some momentum and show our true form without Kosi though.
Subtemperate
Well it seems geelong got the win.... Giid fir geelong, but I gather youd be quite disappointed with that one....
AztecInca
^Especially since it was Harvey's 324th match which is now the record for most games played by a Saint.

Both teams played poorly during the course of the night but Geelong just made more of their opportunities. I could argue that the flooding made it virtually impossible for us to score except from long range but in the end its irrelevant, we lost. Hamill is now injured and could miss anywhere from 4-10 weeks and Ball isn`t looking to good. Thankfully we have Carlton next week.
Subtemperate
lol good teams overcome flooding tongue.gif Adelaide is the example I would use, who beat us by 34 with good ball usage, while we flooded...

...And it seems sydney is back with a vengence....

And Collingwood just couldnt get over the line against West Coast... But regardless Im quietly happy in the fact they pushed what is regarded as one of the top couple of teams... at home... without Nathan Buckley and Travis Cloke.... And Josh Fraser was excellent, easily his best game since our last grand final loss....
Paranoid Android
^Sydney - I know Richmond have some injury problems, but..... 118 points ohmy.gif That's just crazy. 28 goals, 12 behinds. I was starting to wonder what had happened to Sydney's accuracy in previous weeks. Last year they were the most accurate kicking team in the comp. They haven't shown that so far this year.
AztecInca
One thrashing of Richmond and the media is already talking about Sydney making the top four. It's only round 7 and anything can still happen, for all we know West Coast may lose every game from now on......okay so maybe not but geez there's a hell of a lot of band-wagon jumping going on at the moment. Sadly many are jumping off the Saints band-wagon as well.

Collingwood were indeed impressive, but having West Coast miss so many shots at goal sure helped. tongue.gif.......just joking Subby I will now admit you are quite easily one of the top three teams SO FAR this season. thumbsup.gif
Subtemperate
lol...I think Collingwood will lose this week... The week after subiaco has been a pain over the years, and having to take on the cats..I don't know whether we will be metally prepared..... So... I expect another loss. tongue.gif
AztecInca
^Righty-o then Subby, I would still be tipping your lot though.

Hudgton will only only get one week if he pleads guilty at the tribunal but if he pleads not guilty and loses he could face up to 3 weeks on the sidelines. Things just get better and better for us.
Subtemperate
Hope you can get over the line this week... Well.. no not really tongue.gif

Collingwood lose harry obrien this week, who has served his time well..... Im sure he will be back on board, if we get another major injury..... Which most likely will happen... Hopefully Sean Rusling will be back soon enough....
AztecInca
^Bah, you watch as Gehrig fires as he had a bad week last week so he will have a good one this week......Its the way he works much to my annoyance although we might rest him as the bus trip to the G may be too much for his old body........tongue.gif

Anyway Hudgton has taken the one-week suspension but Leigh Fisher a superb defender has finally recovered from injury and has been named in the team. Other additions include Milne, McCough, Powell, Peckett and Ricks a potential ruck option.
DeathBringer
Eagles will do one better than last year... I hope lol. I think collingwood might win against the dockers this week actually.
Subtemperate
Collingwood are up against geelong, not the dockers.... and I have been left in awe of the effort....At 3 quarter time geelong might as well pack up their entire season lol.
AztecInca
^Thankfully I was at work last night and did not have to watch Collingwood destroy Geelong. They can bloody step-up against a injury-ravaged, out of form St.Kilda but against arguably one of the best teams in the competition SO FAR they barely even seem to know why they are on the field. If you are to step-up it should be when you go up against the best........Bah!......."grumbles saints better win today"

Well at least that now brings their percentage down so if we win a few in a row we may be back above them rather soon. Although by wins Richmond is above us after beating Adelaide the current premiership favourities........Richmond winning??!?!?!.......Collingwood winning?!?!?........by 102 points?!........the world has gone mad! tongue.gif

Subtemperate
lol... at least St Kilda smashed carlton today. They are in the eight now... course.. they aren't up with Collingwood... But you can't have everything. grin2.gif
AztecInca
^Well of course tongue.gif

I watched the match live yesterday and to be honest Carlton were very lucky they didn`t get beaten by closer to 150 points. We missed far too many easy shots and for the last ten minutes of the final quarter we were rather average. Besides from that we were very impressive and hopefully it will now give us some momentum to get into that top 4.

Poor carlton only having two scorers for the whole game, Fevola kicked all their goals and half of their behinds while another player kicked two of their behinds. Reiwoldt just about doubled Carltons score with his 9 goals and 3 behinds!

Hey, anyone interested in a team debate of football codes? One team is NFL, the other could be either AFL, soccer, or rugby. Please think about it.
AztecInca
^Yep thats completly right there is still a team position left in the "Best Football Code" debate. Come on Subby you know you want to do it, do it for all the Collingwood supported back home tongue.gif

Subtemperate
lol no, im not into that argument all that well tongue.gif

Anyhow, collingwood have continued on its winning way, accounting for the bulldogs..... Lets just hope some other victorian teams have wins this week tongue.gif
AztecInca
^Well I was actually cheering on the pies as if the dogs lost and we won we would go above them due to our superior percentage. So I`m happy that you won although the doggies are just lucky you missed so many shots on goal in the last tern.

Bloody Richmond upstaged Geelong down at Geelong and the cats season is beginning to fall apart while the Crows bounced back with a nice 11 goal victory over Carlton.

Tis Reiwoldt's 100th match tommorrow and I would have to say that I`m quitely confident of victory but the Roo's are a team that you can just never write off and they do love going up against the Saints. It could be very interesting indeed. thumbsup.gif
Paranoid Android
And Sydney are involved in yet another slaughterhouse. This time Hawthorn are the victim's, thrashed by 65 points. Sydney seemed to cruise in second gear throughout. if Hawthorn were closer, they could have stepped up a notch. Included in Sydney's 5 behinds were 2 that hit the post. Potentially, the final score could have been 21.3 instead of only 19.5.

Watch out Subby and aztec - after next week's game, Sydney has consecutive games against St Kilda and Collingwood. Good luck for that thumbsup.gif
AztecInca
^Well well those matches shall be very interesting indeed. Sydney did look impressive but so do the Lions. They have just won their match against the Dockers by a very impressive 68 points. They are now just outside the eight and if results go their way over the next week or two they could be right in there.

The Saints are currently up by 28 points over the Kangaroos in the final quarter and should hold on for the victory but I never like to write off the Kangaroos especially against us. If we do hold on we will move up to at least sixth on the ladder! thumbsup.gif
Subtemperate
Saints have now lost Lenny Hayes for the season....I think that'll hit them very hard.....

...Why should collingwood look out, we score 21 or so goals every week tongue.gif
SkyDive
OMG, there's a thread about AFL... *sigh* i guess i shouldn't be suprised, but in all my years of living in melbourne i have NEVER been to a football match in my life, but that all changed at the Essendon Vs Port on Sat.

I work for an agency and i do promo work and stuff, i was working there on Saturday. There black outfits were so thin, it was soooooooo cold!!!!!

Throws things at the wall, while kicking bean bag around the room! tongue.gif.....Hamill is still out for at least 8 weeks, Kosi may not play again this year, Xavier Clarke is still 2-4 weeks away and now Hayes is out for the year. Things just keep getting worse and worse for us, the bloody injury curse seems to have intensified upon the Saints.
Subtemperate
Skydive, Believe me having played school football in the cold...the warmest place there would have been running around on the field...

And I feel for the saints.... As much as they felt for us last year tongue.gif
AztecInca
^Bah, at least I have the Melbourne Storm and the Socceroos to follow over the next few weeks as our chances of defeating the Demons and Sydney are not looking good at all!

And Sydney has won their past 5 matches by 10 goals (average). Not to mention we have the third best defence in the league. It'll be close. Good luck to ya, mate thumbsup.gif

Not to mention a State of Origin match down there. Though you probably don't care about that.

AztecInca
^I enjoy watching both codes of Rugby and although I wont be going I will watch it on tv as I watched the last one and that was very entertaining indeed.
frogfish
We need one more debater for this debate: Battle of the 'Football' Codes!

The last person's partner will be PA.
Subtemperate
We get it already tongue.gif

There are only really 3 people who are in this thread constantly.... And we all know about the debate, so constantly asking us to take part really won't help.

Paranoid Android
ANd one of those three are already participants, and another is the debate organiser grin2.gif
AztecInca
^I could technically participate in said debate as any moderator could easily check whether I have done anything dodgy with my powers!...tongue.gif

Anyway, with Hayes missing this week McCough will definately keep his place in the side. He's not really that bad, he just lacks that acceleration that most midfielders possess. He actually does get the ball quite often so hopefully he can step up in the abscence of Hayes. Powell will also not be back as he managed to get himself suspended for 4 weeks while playing for our VFL side.
Subtemperate
well, I see St Kilda didn't get over melbourne. original.gif

...And collingwood gets the win over its biggest rival in recent years. Although the prospect of losing Dane Swan, Caracella and Nick Maxwell all in one week is a bit disappointing. Especially since we face melbourne. Though Tarrant coming back is a good replacement for caracella...

QUOTE
THE playing future of Collingwood forward Blake Caracella is in doubt after scans confirmed he fractured vertebrae and bruised his spinal cord in one of the most severe neck injuries suffered by an AFL player.

This is very sad, he was just starting to find his feet in our team.... I hope he recovers fully, and can get back on the track, because thats a tragic way to finish your career. sad.gif

AztecInca
^Tis a very sad situation indeed. Here's hoping he recovers fully and is back playing soon.

St.Kilda's season just seems to get worse and worse. Andrew Thompson may have broken ribs, Luke Ball is obviously playing in pain and needs to be rested and a resurgent Brendan Goddard has been reported. And yet we came from 41 points down to get within 8 points and only our inability to convert cost us the match in the end.

Now we are off to the bloody SCG to play Sydney, followed by Adelaide back home at Tesltra Dome. We then have Hawthron and Collingwood so this month of footy could make or break our season and its certainly looking to be the latter at the moment. We can probably still scrap into the eight but the premiership looks to be beyond us this year. It appears the Collingwood is the only realistic hope of the Victorian teams but there is still 12 rounds to go!

Subtemperate
Thought I should add Justin Leppitsch has just announced his retirement from AFL. This came as a bit of a shock to me, but obviously he has been injury plagued for a while.....
AztecInca
Well he had talked about calling it quits earlier this season and with his injury-plaqued body not really improving it was only a matter of time. At least he got to be a part of a triple-premiership which few can claim.

On the Saints, Andrew Thomson has injured a disc in his back and will be gone for around a month while Goddard does indeed look to be in some trouble for when he fronts the tribunal.
SkyDive
OMG!! GUESS WHAT PPLS!!!!

ive been given my first EVA AFL tix, im going on Monday for the Melb VS Collingwood.

Im gonna be scatterted as anything, we have a huge rave event the night b4 but we are going to the footy anyways, lol.

GO the DEEE'S

*puts on little devil horns and grabs my mates scarf* LOL this is gonna be fun!
Paranoid Android
Have fun at the AFL anyway, I haven't seen a match live yet, but I've been meaning to go sometime.

Is that rave you're going to Traincore by any chance, Skydive?
Subtemperate
No, lets NOT say go the dees tongue.gif

Aztec, being here I havent heard much about leppitsch.... As to why it was a shock to me lol

AztecInca
GO THE DEES!!!!.......tongue.gif

Well on the Leppitsch issue he would get around 30 seconds every now and then on the sports news discussing his battle with his injuries so it wasn`t like it was big news until now. The Akermanis vs leigh Matthews and Brisbane lions leadership groups got all the airtime!
Subtemperate
Well Wanganeen has called it a day also, so thats two champions down.... Now just James Hird and Robert Harvey to go tongue.gif

AztecInca
Well Harvey isn`t going to call it quit's until he gets that bloody premiership he deserves and that could mean he`ll have to play up until his 400th match.

Good to see that Rix is going to get a games against the Swans as he is our tallest player and does have some skill but I wouldn`t be putting any money on the Saints.
Paranoid Android
COngratulations St Kilda thumbsup.gif
Too bad about Luke Ball sad.gif
AztecInca
^Indeed our season is still alive and it appears that Luke Ball is alright. He didn`t have to take an ambulance to hospital and was singing the Saints song with all the other players after the match. You could see some blood and a little swelling above his lip but apart from that he looked absolutely fine. He's one tough nut Lukey Ball! thumbsup.gif

Anyways apart from that final quarter St.kilda definately dominated throughout that match, showing that fight and aggression that is needed when your backs are to the wall. Hopefully this is that catalyst to get us back in the fight for premiership glory!
Subtemperate
well we lost, but im not suprised.... We were up for a long time... We were due for a downer, but hopefully we can get back on track for our next huge match against sydney...
Paranoid Android
Good luck, subby. Sydney also had a little bit of a flat game the past couple of weeks (no disrespect meant to St Kilda's showing - they played well), so hopefully (for us at least) we'll be up for this one.
Subtemperate
well, i hope you don't regroup tongue.gif

Its funny that when you win 8 from nine, they talk about how good you are, and how great your depth is..... and when a couple of players go out of your side... Depth somehow is the blame, when you played horribly....

Im sorry, but Brodie Holland, Dane Swan and Caracella are not worth 10 goals between them..... Our side had a bad day, after 9 good ones before that, I think we can give them the benefit of a downer...
