I do not know what happened with Freo against the crows, but I beleive they will not be set back by this defeat. They will rock on. cool.gif

I know what happened. Dispite the fact that they were missing their best players the Crows still managed to play amazingly showing the amazing depth they have in their younger players.

Thats what i think of Port i'm afraid.

As to Can the crows...

I can't believe a fellow south Australian would say such a thing. You should be deported. You terrible person.

This is it guy's, now that Dockers has downed the the Demons, and the Eagles flogged the Bulldogs, it comes down to 4 teams. Will the Swans get one over the Dockers, or not, and will the Crows be able to bet the Eagles. cool.gif
I beleive the Eagles will drag the crows through the dirt, sorry AR, and the Dockers verses the Swans it will be a close game, but I am a Dockers fan so I am picking them. I could be wrong, but having two WA teams in the Final would good for WA footy. Too bad Victoria can not find a team good enough to make it this far, no.gif .so sad.
AztecInca
^Its not sad at all, the competition is now a National one and it will only be a matter of time before another Victorian side is holding up the premiership cup. Anway we have the Melbourne Victory who are unbeaten and the Melbourne Storm who took out the minor premiership and could go all the way.

Dont feel bad A R.....even the A.F.L team are 'afraid' of PORT.

As the Crows go,... of course i'll supPORT them A R (cough cough)....Just dont want to see them get done by a Vic team in the Grand Final.......You see that i said Grand Final and they havent even qualified yet, thats how much confidence i hav in them. grin2.gif thumbsup.gif grin2.gif

Subtemperate
Well, its a rerun of last years grand final... and I for one think it'll have the same result.
AztecInca
^Maybe but the Eagles have a number of quality players in their team this time that missed out last year and I personally believe its too close to call at the moment anyway.

So who are people tipping for the Brownlow tonight? I`m going with Reiwoldt or Dal Santo, not that I`m biased or anything. tongue.gif
AtlantisRises
The horror of that Crows vs Eagles final. The crows didn't deserve to be in the grand final after choking like they did.

They had a commanding lead and should never have lost.

As for the GF i think that sydney will win again but it will be a VERY close game.

And the Brownlow will go to Adam Goodes though it would be nice if Simon Goodwin could win. But i know that isn't to likely.

BTW what do you think about the AKA debate. Will the lions let him go to the Bulldogs or will they sit on him for another year???

Personally i don't think the bulldogs have anything to trade for him
Paranoid Android
As I said to Subby in chat, both West Coast and Adelaide shot themselves in the foot. Only West Coast did it less. Neither team asserted their authority. Wayward kicking kept the scores tight (hell, West Coast missed a set shot from 10 metres at only a slight angle wacko.gif). 19 behinds says it all......

I'm with ya on Adam Goodes for the Brownlow, but maybe I'm biased as well grin2.gif
And Sydney for the title again, but again I think I'm biased devil.gif
At least the Victorian supporters can console themselves with the NRL grand final whistling2.gif
Subtemperate
Yeah, I told my brother one of three players would win... and they finished 1,2 and 3 lol

Im a little disappointed that Scott West didn't win, he has been such a decent player over so many years....
AtlantisRises
OK people time for you all to throw your Grand Final Tips out.

I pick Swans with Judd getting the Norm Smith again
Paranoid Android
^well, it's better than the West Coast getting the title and Goodes getting the Norm Smith grin2.gif

I made this response below to someone on another forum (a Melbourne-ite barracking for West Coast). The guy made some pretty disparaging remarks against us Sydney-ites also, so 'tis all in good humour. Just thought I'd share it with ya's thumbsup.gif

oh, the gloves are coming off now.

I guess I'm just gonna have to blame this abhorrent lack of information on shoddy Victorian media coverage (it's either that or accuse all Melbournians of collective blindness, so take your pick). Methinks you're just bitter and twisted over not having a finals game down there for the past two weeks. You turned up at the MCG on Friday night with your gold-frilled season pass in one hand and a dusted-off Carlton flag in the other, and found that someone neglected to tell you that no Victorian team made the top 4. So who better to take out the misplaced angst on than the team on top. Last years premiers, the Swannies.

Or is it the fact that the Swans used to be a South Melbourne side. Ahhh, i think there lies the true beef - the 100% McDonalds patty that's burning your bun so much. The only thing worse than not having a Victorian team in the Grand Final is having an ex-Victorian team in the Grand Final. Oh, how that must curdle your milk (the only thing that does curdle milk, with the awful weather you have down there - a bag of prawns left out in the midday sun for the bbq would freeze before going off).

So go spend your money on that West Coast supporters jersey you so desperately need want. Make sure it's long-sleeved, cos' your weekend's gonna be awful cold when Leo Barry takes another screamer on the siren. And when Nick Davis kicks another 4-goal final quarter. Pull that West Coast jersey tight as Kennelly, Schneider, Buchannan and Kirk all run the ball out to..... yes - Hall, O'laughlin and Goodes - y'know, if West Coast could actually defend they might be able to contain three wittle bitty players.

You can have your sour grapes in the sunless funless land. But up here, we're cracking open the keg and celebrating hard. Because no matter what - whoever wins, you lose.

I bid you all adieu folks,
~ PA

HA

Thats funny. I love Vic bashing...
Paranoid Android
I guess congratulations are in order for West Coast. THey played well and probably deserved to win on the day. As hard as this is for me to admit, West coast were clearly the better team on the day and it was only Sydney's fighting spirit taht helped them keep in touch. In the end they almost stole it, but it was a win well deserved for the Eagles thumbsup.gif

Now, to drown my sorrows in Oktoberfest ales.
AtlantisRises
What a great game it was to. i was on the edge of my seat right up till the last minute.

The TAB must have made a lot of money with the Norm Smith and the first goal both going to virtual unknowns

I'll let Chris Judd know thats what you think of him... tongue.gif

If you think Victoria sucks so much, please feel free to give us back all our victorian players. Judd and Pavlich is a good start, and we will go from there... original.gif
Subtemperate
Well...I must say I'm a little gutted Tarrant has gone. I 'm sure people will be critical of him, but hes one hell of a player to let go.

In the space of 5 years collingwood have let Paul Williams and Chris Tarrant go.... both would probably be in the top 4 players in the club (though tarrants form this year has been less then perfect)...

Im starting to think we are cursed.
AztecInca
^So you have won only one premiership after around 100 years of AFL/VFL participation Subby? tongue.gif If any club within our competition is cursed it is the bloody Saints. Just look at our run with injuries over the last couple of years........"sigh" Tis great being a Saints supporter! lol!

So what does everyone think of St.Kilda's acquistion of Gardiner and the appointment of Lyon as coach?
Subtemperate
With both only time can tell really....

Anyhow, I would think that your team has performance issues, and internal club problems, causing its non success.... whereas my team, which has lost more grand finals then anyone else has even been in, could arguably have the worst luck.... Being at the big one, and losing so many times.....

Should make sure you realise your only win was against us...lol
Paranoid Android
And in other news, Spida's a swan now. I'm not sure I can see him in the red and white's actually. It'll be interesting.
Subtemperate
its been a long while.... but... in about a week and a half (I think) we finally have the new season upon us.

Nice to see a victorian team win some sort of cup.. but I expect them to sink towards the bottom of the ladder come start of the season tongue.gif
Harks
Go the Dockers cool.gif, they will hopefully pickoff from where they finished last year, such a brillant run at the end of last season, they are bound to be a wild card.
Subtemperate
Most teams will probably be saying that lol

Go the Dockers! cool.gif Of course they will say that.
Subtemperate
well collingwoods season hasn't started so well. Rusling out for most of the season, Didak recovering from a knee recon.... hopefully will be back soon enough... Buckly out for the first couple of rounds with a hamstring problem....

its not looknig promising so far...
AztecInca
^Tis enjoyable to witness the misfortune of Collingwood! tongue.gif

Well we are already going to be without Hamill for another month or so, Reiwoldt hasn`t been allowed to move his hamstring or even go near a footy field in the last couple of weeks, Gardiner is still being rested after his Hernia operation and Hudgton is still well short of full fitness. At least Hayes and Macguire are back and rearing to go. I would say that our new coach from Sydney plans on starting us off slowly and getting us to fire later in the season just like the Swans.
REBEL
Harks, i see the Dockers going from strength to strength as the years roll on...they are gonna surprise maybe even shock a few ppl/teams this year. hmm.gif thumbsup.gif

Aztec, you hit the nail on the head, couldn't agree with you more. Collingwood needed to pull their head out of Eddie McGuire ass to see the light.
Too much emphasis on $$$ to keep the club a float & turning over profits and not enough on team & players. hmm.gif thumbsup.gif

PA, let them have him, the swans will probably find he'l be more trouble than what he's worth in the end anyway. hmm.gif thumbsup.gif

Subtemperate, i've always been weary of a team that starts poorly, especially pre-season. Other teams tend to under-estimate them giving that team the upper hand with the element of surprise come minor round. Playing for points changes the game and player psyche if you like. hmm.gif thumbsup.gif

AR, i'm still trying to figure out if your a Crows or Power supporter. hmm.gif huh.gif grin2.gif

Having said all that to you guys, there is really only one team that will polishing their boots on/off the field with all their opponents jumpers & leaving flame trails behind this season... hmm.gif ...

Well it is a big year for the drug users in the AFL, with West Coast starting the ball rolling with Ben Cousins in rehab and Daniel Kerr being phone tapped by the police. Kerr is heard discussing the effects of taking Ketamine, a powerful horse sedative. Wow. cool.gif
AtlantisRises
Ahh Reb. Well I would place myself as more of a Power supporter then a Crows supporter. But in the end of the day as long as we beat the Vics I am pretty happy.

But when the Showdown comes about Reb. Then the Crows will be pummeled into the ground I hope.

We've got the Power to win
Power to rule
Come on, Port Adelaide aggression
We are the Power from Port
It's more than a sport
It's true Port Adelaide tradition
We'll never stop, stop, stop
Til we're top, top, top
There's history here in the making
Port Power to win
We'll never give in
Til the flag is ours for the taking

Well the highlight of my day today was seeing our new coach Ross Lyon and Ken Sheldon having lunch on my way to Uni. tongue.gif Anyway good to see St.Kilda make a solid start to the year with solid performances by the majority of the team rather than a few exceptional individuals. Reiwoldt will make his return this thursday against Brisbane but sadly stress fractures were discovered in Matt Mcguires foot so he`ll be out for a month or so.
Subtemperate
Well Collingwood were lucky against North, and were pretty good against west coast without the points... it'll be interesting to see how we go this week against Richmond.

Butr I must say I saw the geelong and Essendon games as well.. and both of those teams impressed me quite a bit.
Harks
I am so devestated that the bombers beat the dockers, it should never have happened. Oh well it is still early in the season. cool.gif
cheza
The Dockers always seem to be slow starters, they are looking good for the derby this weekend
Subtemperate
You'd want them too, or they will be 3 nil tongue.gif

Collingwood again fought against the odds to beat richmond... not bad considering our side was missing its captain, vice captain, best and fairest from last year... as well as a handful of others from our best 22.

AtlantisRises
Ugh. Damnation, is there anything worse then being a Port Supporter after losing a Showdown. I have to say that I am quite dissappointed in Port who I considered to be playing damn well thus far. But kudos to the Crows who I guess deserved it more. Neil Craig is imo one of the best coaches in the competition.

ROFL!!!

I was thinking a more close up view where the can see their reflection when kissing and sipping from the grail. devil.gif

Yea, Pies are in awesome form and look to me a guaranteed top 4 side come september.
Malthouse has them well drilled like navy seals. I got lots of respect for him for how he single handedly transformed the Pies & for his great work at West Coast.

Later Subtemperate. thumbsup.gif
Subtemperate
I hated Malthouse at West Coast, couldn't stand the guy... its funny how opinions change when you see them in your club colors sometimes lol... I think he is the best thing to happen to us in a hell of a long time. You can look at the other lists at the tope of the table, and to see us 4th at this point is very impressive considering who we are missing....

They'll be back, plus the Pies have a lot of depth in their side, young up and coming champions and i think Malthouse knows it.

Still a long way to go Subtemperate, Pies are cruising, no sweat, just completing the split-round this weekend and the second half commences.

Exactly. The Saints will show up Collingwood for the pretenders that they are! tongue.gif As we begin our resurgence to our rightful place within the top eight. We are nearly over all our injuries and have finally been able to implement Lyon's gameplan while playing to our teams strengths. I believe its too late for us to get top four but as long as we make the finals I would consider this year a success considering we have a new coach and have had a horrid first half of the year in terms of injuries.

Only kidding about the pies there Subby, they are indeed a formidable side this year, one that can only improve but I do believe that if we play like we have the last two weeks we will run over the top of you by the end of the game. Our season is still on the line and dropping a game now could be disastorous. Hamill and McQuire will come back this week and after their performance in the vfl on the weekend they are looking the goods......finally!
REBEL
FACT:

I can't friggin believe(not that i really care anyway devil.gif )that the Crows went down to West Coast...at home!! w00t.gif
Subtemperate
St Kilda can complain about injuries all they want, but look at collingwoods this year..... We have unleashed 8 (I think) newcomers, which is more then even the bottom teams... and we are still up and with it. I could name about 10 players we are missing/are just getting back from our best 22... So what does that say about us now? lol

AztecInca
That like St.Kilda you have serious issues with your medical staff and considering how much bloody money Collingwood has compared to the other teams thats worrying.....and that of course you have a vast depth of talent that can only improve as so many are young rookie players. Bah! It wont stop the mighty saints as we have no choice but to win and with Montagna, Kosi(he's been named to play this week after missing only one match), G-train,Harvs and Reiwoldt on fire plus the return of MacQuire we will be hard to stop. Its bloody taken long enough though!
Subtemperate
We have no problems with our medical staff. Buckley's problem is a class all its own, so I don't think ANY medical staff would have handled it better... In fact I would think if he was in many other teams he may have just hung up the boots by now. Collingwood is about player management, and whilst we have carried some injuries into the year, the focus is not to get them back asap... but to get them back when they can benefit the team. We miss James Clement... and well..of course we miss buckley... but why bring them back quickly when your team is playing so well. Might as well make sure they are 100%.

Anyhow, good to see the pies down the saints grin2.gif
AztecInca
You are probably correct there Subby, I just felt like having a go at Collingwood and the fact they have so much more money then all the other Victorian sides, your 100 million annual turnover dwarfs the annual turnover of all the other sides.

Well at least we came from behind after half-time to jump to that 21 point lead, too bad we couldn`t hold on, lol! tongue.gif Its rare for the Sainst to ever come from behind even if its just a few points, so at least some positives can be claimed from the match. Sadly though we just stopped in the final term and Collingwood played brilliantly and showed why they are definite finals contenders. We aren`t out of the finals yet but the gap is now two games and percentage, its going to be a hard ask to make it.
Paranoid Android
And Sydney continue to slide down the ladder. Up until last weekend I had been fairly optimistic, thinking that Sydney were going to do their whole Late-Season Charge thing that they did for the past few years, but it seems that the wheels have well and truly fallen off. Whatever magic Paul Roos has been able to conjure in previous years simply isn't working this year. A shame really, considering that on paper, they are actually stronger this year than in the past (thanks to Peter "Spida" Everitt signing to play for them).

Oh well, back to the Rugby League for us Sydney folks then. Without a viable Sydney team, our interest is gone tongue.gif Not really, but often I think it seems that way.......
