'Burt Rutan, the man behind the only aircraft to fly non-stop around the world without refueling, has unveiled what he calls the world's first private space programme.

The unveiling of Mr Rutan's space hardware, said to be at a mature stage of development, will undoubtedly push the race to become the first private astronaut into its final stages. '

This topic makes me think of something. ( ohmy.gif )

Remember that TV show "Salvage One, " with Andy Griffeth? He played a junk yard owner that built a space ship out of junk (what else) and flew to the moon. Think we will ever get to the point where such a thing might be possible? Think of some of the sci-fi space movies. There is usually some low class private freighter captain whose ship is mostly cobbled together from old, used space ship parts. We do the same thing with cars now. Why not space ships?

That I would love to see. Sort of like some of the Star Wars stuff where you have a junkyard where you could get bits and pieces of engines etc..

I only hope it will happen in my lifetime - cause I wanna do it!
