The Dragon's Tears
They opened their wings and took the sky
Flying ever higher and higher
Like a Phoenix child they are born in death
And raised from their parents fire
We watch in awe as the children grow
They spread like a fire in a field
No past, no tomorrow they have only a now
Their anger like a club they wield
With maniacal glee they tear and destroy
It is the only thing they know
It’s what we taught them by word and deed
On every Damn television show
Their minds are filled with death and destruction
While they play their damn video game
When souls are fed with songs of hate and despair
What harvest can you hope to but claim
Our parents raised us and taught us love
While our children were raised by box
Now in despair as the young ones go cold
We fear them and check on our locks
Many a war and famine and flood and fire
All these our country has gone through
Too many lacked love so many raised by the box
Our mistakes we are beginning to rue
The sick ones know anger and hate and despair
We just now are beginning to fear
Of charity and kindness they have none at all
Just the mercy of a crocodile tear
Dedicated to the children of the “Columbine Generation”
