MANAGUA, Nicaragua (AP) - A man who joked to friends that he would eat a fish live choked to death when the creature squirmed and lodged in his throat, police and coroner's officials said Thursday.



Police said the incident occurred when Jose Angel Torres Padilla, 22, was fishing with friends on Monday in the municipality of Dario, about 70 kilometres north of the capital.


Police said the man's friends told them he had put the fish in his mouth, joking that he was going to eat it live. But the fish squirmed and slipped down his throat.


Benito Lindo, coroner for the provincial capital of Matagalpa, told The Associated Press by telephone that doctors conducting an autopsy had found a fish in the man's throat.

Well it was an unbelievably stupid thing to do but the fact he died is very sad, hopefully his mates wont try anything similar now they have seen how badly things can go wrong!

and they say the fresher the sashimi the better...

no, they are trying it with two instead.

How sad indeed it is to die doing something stupid.

I can relate....I almost died doing something stupid when I put my flagpole up. I used
1 1/2" galvanized pipe and when I raised it up I banged it against the power lines going to my house....nothing happened...but I should be dead.

A couple of years ago a guy locally was involved in a tragic accident when he decided to confront someone in traffic who pissed him off. He was driving way too fast and flew over the embankment of a bridge.

It's just sad.

his friends must feel so guilty.

That is sad but why would someone be so stupid to put a alive fish in there mouth?even if they didnt die the fish might of had a disease or something !
