Neo2005
I love the matrix i have all the movies plus revisited and the matrix boxed set plus the animatrix and all the soundtracks
Blood Angel
My sister is a matrix nutjob....the first was great, some of the animatrixs' rate high in my book, but the second and third installments were pretty...pants.
Neo2005
I thought all the movies were incredible I love the game aswell
But the animatrix just get's you deeper into the world that is the matrix
Shakezulah
im a matrix fan

Oooh, me either. I luv The Matrix, except maybe for the ending of Revolutions, the rest is great. The Animatrix is awesome but I didn't like the game very much (although I have to admit that shooting exclusive footage for the movie was really nice from the Wachowskis). You know that Shiny is doing a sequel that will come out this year?
Neo2005
I didn't know that but it should be awesome.
Yeah the end of revolutions was kinda lacking the fight scene anyway to much flying around it was like they were pushing each other really hard
Mad Manfred
I've only seen Matrix, Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions...so I can't comment on the others.

Well lets see...where shall I start?

The bad writing? The messy dialogue? The use of CGI as a major crutch to make up for the previous two? Keanu Reeve's typical cardboard cut-out performance? The fact that no matter how many times someone is punched in the face they're glasses and hair remain perfect? The predictability? The repetitive fight scenes? Moments that were so corny they made you cringe? Blatant anime knock-offs?

Oh...and for the life of me I can't decide over which word better suits these movies...Contrived or Convoluted?

Yeah...awesome movies...if you like settling for pretty computer generated images cutoff with the occassional and predictable slow motion moments.

Kids these days rolleyes.gif

Go watch Fight Club, Dogma or American History X...THOSE are great movies thumbsup.gif

I have to agree with you here, fight club - has to be the best psychological movie ever. Dogma - one of the best comedies i have seen to date. And american history x in my mind was worthy of all the oscars you could throw at it.
Richdog
First Matrix was seminal, I can watch it over and over.

Sequels were complete pap, I ignore them. Bit like the new Star Wars films. grin2.gif
neo cloud 8900
im a matrix fan. but i dont have any of the movies. i do have the animatrix
BurnSide
First one was brilliant. Second one was like watching a big hairy backside of a few hours, the third was like watching something come out of that backside.

Not pleasent movies. But the first was good.
Shakezulah
i think they were all great movies.
AztecInca
^I agree I enjoyed all three Matrix movies but the first was the best!
zudo
The first was awesome, the second was like a wall, nouthing happened, and the third didn't really get as in depth as I would have liked... the story was told in the first movie, the second and third just took what could've been two minutes at the end of the first and turned it into two hours.
Walken
The second movie was too much action, to enougth acting.

The third was my favourite.
kikuchiyo
The matrix comic books rocks, they don't alway fit in the neo story but they show the lives of people in and outside the matrix. Fighting for it, against it and people who have no idea of what's happening. They all have different styles it gives a dept to the story.

They aren't all set in the same city, sometimes it's in a more desertic place, can remember the name. In some episodes an other "real" city exists. It's quite fun.
***

I like the first movie, the other two where soso story wize but action side... it's a whole different thing.

read the comics!
Lottie
I loved the first and second one but the third was lame.

pure opinion

QUOTE
Keanu Reeve's typical cardboard cut-out performance?

i thought he did a good job with the character actually

QUOTE
The fact that no matter how many times someone is punched in the face they're glasses and hair remain perfect?

notice how this only occurs while in the matrix, the matrix is not real, you look in the matrix how your minds eye sees yourself, your hair and sunglasses would not damage while in the matrix if your mind is out of the box far enough while in there

QUOTE
The predictability?

you cant be serioiuse, this movie was far from predictable, your telling me that you seen smith taking over the matrix like he did, or the importance of the merovingion? or what was going to happen while neo battled smith in the final show down? and thats just to name a few

QUOTE
The repetitive fight scenes?

if you mean repetitive as in there was a lot then yes, but if you mean repetitive as in the same thing over and over again you are mistaken, each fight seen is almost a complete original set, the fight scenes were coreographed from some of the most famouse martial arts coregraphers in the world matter a fact

QUOTE
Moments that were so corny they made you cringe?

i dont recall any moments like this, you would have to elaborate on that one, but it is very possible no doubt

QUOTE
Blatant anime knock-offs?

it was meant to be appearant, the wachowski brothers wanted there movie to be a live-action anime film

----

my personal favorite was the 2nd one
Byuu94
The second and last had good stories, but for most people it was a philosophy overload. The thing I hate most about the third is the DBZ-esque final fight. disgust.gif
JackBauer
I think that the first one was the best one by far, but with each sequel, the movies degenerated until you have Matrix Revoloutions, which was a major dissapointment. I didnt really enjoy at all.
aliennobasoure
#3 was my fav out of ALL 3
JackBauer
Regardless of what I though of number 3, I thought it was OK, mostly the fight in Zion. It wasnt the greatest fight... far from perfect, but it was alright. All in all, I thought it was weaker, but not horrible.

Yay, I'm not the only Revolutions fan around. grin2.gif

Definitely my favourite of the trilogy, albeit marginally, but I can't watch it without crying, and I've seen it 30 or so times to date. *laughs* Yeah, I'm mad, but Trinity rocks so much. Reloaded is my least favourite of the three by quite some way. I agree with you, too much action and not enough acting, although that elevator scene... original.gif

Anyway, I just adopted the fanlisting for the Animatrix episode Beyond... so that's another to add to the collection. I have one of the Trinity dolls, but not the boxed set yet. I thought that it would tide me over that I already have most of the DVD content, until I have my CSI collection completed and I'm still missing one of those.

But yeah, definitely love all of it. Shadow-sama got me Enter The Matrix for Christmas, too. original.gif *huggles at him*

I have a poster in my locker that says to take the red pill. grin2.gif heh

The first was amazing. Im obssesive about it. The thoughts and ideas presented, and how they are related to the world and religion...It facisinates me, and consumes me. lol, freaky I know. The others wherent as good as the first. The animatrix kicked as though....some of the best animation I have seen.
BurnSide
Agreed, Mr. Rumbolt, the Animatrix IS amazing.

cartoon network played the animatrix a month or two back, i too loved the animatrix
Shakezulah
yeah my friend used to have the Animatrix on dvd. i watched it all one time and was really cool, except for one or two which were kinda boring
BurnSide
Teletoon, our cartoon network, is currently showing them all over the course of the next 2 months.

I think that 'The Third Renassiance' is quite possibly one of the finest stories told in anime in a long time. It's incredible.
Byuu94
Program, Beyond, and A Deective Story are my favs. grin2.gif Burnside, you mean The Second Renaissance?

Matriculated was by far the wierdest. blink.gif
BurnSide
hahah yes i do. rofl.gif

I got Matriculated after the 3rd time watching it through. It's a pretty good story actually, but yeah, weird.
seeking
matriculated was my least favorite, my most favorite is a toss up between the one about the kid in school, the one with that girl and her cat, and the 2nd renasounce(sp?)...sorry i dont know the actual titles

hey burnside, your sig/avatar is the guy from the detective story right?

I always thought that the best one was a tie between Kid's story and the detective story
which coincidentaly is Burnsides Signature
D@RK_KN!GHT
loved all the movies and if yu look at the story neo was supposed to be a savior to a people kinda like christ i know everyone wanted a happy ending where neo and trinity got married but it wasnt meant to be he had to sacrifice so others may live all in all a great story i agree with most that it was to drawn out but my favorite trilogy of all time and my spelling sucks
Neo2005
It is definatly the best set of movies ever
D@RK_KN!GHT
got to agree with you neo the fact that you can watch over and over and see something you didnt the last time is so cool
Neo2005
yep definatly
seeking
i was one of the first people in the world to watch revolutions, i went to the movies for the first showing by myself to see the damn thing
Neo2005
