Didn't catch the show, but would have loved to have seen it. I've seen a couple things interpreting the Da Vinci Code.
I think it's quite interesting reading and learning about interpretations that in some way get connected back to religion. very cool stuff.

I saw the program and its obviously one of these programs made by people desperately trying to hide uncomfortable truths, it looks like what people tried to do after Michael moore’s documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, it makes people uncomfortable when so many people are exposed through the media to the facts, so they go out of there way to try and debunk the facts one by one, its a shame because people end up just as in the dark as they where before. No matter what evidence that is put forward that might threaten the church and what it stands for will always be brutally defended by "the powers that be" what ever means whether they be dishonest or not. Some truths are just to scary for some people to face, so they will defend against them, sometimes even with there lives.
There are facts that cant be debunked by anyone and that is that the early church demonized women, and especially demonized the idea that women had a part in the divine being, they made women spiritually less important than men and to squash the pagan ideas that both men and women where equal, in the early church they preached that women where not even worthy of souls and did not have one, BUT you cant change history no matter how many corrupt or dishonest programs are made, history doesn’t lie.
This program has turned out to be one of them corrupt programs created to deceive the public which makes me sad, because I like Tony Robinson.
I'm sure religious fundamentalists had a say in this program somewhere. I'm amazed how religious suppressers are allowed to influence so much through there bullying, why aren’t they ignored as the nasty lunatics that they are? its bizarre on so many levels. If these extremist people got there way, all of us would be living in a nazi country.
All the best

I didn’t think the programme was that corrupt. I thought Tony was quite sincere in his opinions about the book. What I found rather strange was the initial search he did for the Holy Grail, and finding that grail resembling an eggcup.

Not really relevant to the book.
It’s a shame he didn’t speak at all about Opus Dei, , was still good viewing though IMO.

I liked it, i didn't feel that it was an attempt to deceive anyone.
Surely part of such an investigation would involve going through all the elements of the story and 'debunking' them if possible, therefore revealing which parts are true, and which cannot be substantiated.
I don't think that the programme was 'corrupt'.

I have to say I found nothing about this program corrupt. Just because the early church had a problem with women doesn't mean that the Da Vinci code is true...

The da vinchi code certainley covers a lot.
My RE teacher, a fundamentalist Christian, refuse's to beleive it. She (perhaps rightly, too) says that it is a nice idea, but it is simply that, an idea.

I am not sure if the administrator will allow me to print the truth about the New Testament, as it is more exiting than even Dan Brown will allow. And yes, that program by Tony Robinson was a complete whitewash, given the chance I could have pulled it to pieces.
The Mary Magdalene of the Da Vinci Code
Among many alternative hypotheses, I also have a different angle on Dan Brown's Mary Magdalene theories. Yes, she was the Holy Grail, the Sang Real, the Holy Blood. But the cup imagery was real too, for the San Greal or Holy Cup was actually a reference to her womb - the vessel that held the Royal Blood. Yes, she was married to Jesus, but even that is more shocking than it may at first seem...
Mary Magdalene means Mary of the Tower. But Mary got her title not from any old 'tower', but from the Benben tower of Heliopolis, which was a phallic symbol. Hence Mary Mag was actually known as Mary of the Penis. This is perhaps confirmed by the reverse of Magdelene (the tower), which is Lingam, meaning penis. So why this peculiar title?
Well, in Egyptian tradition the elder princess became God's Wife, and was also known as the Handmaiden of God. This was a very prestigious position. She served the Egyptian god Atum by masterbating him (and thus ensuring the creation and regeneration of the world, according to Egyptian theology). It is for this reason that the Hand-maiden title was derived, and this is sometimes more directly translated as God's Hand. But, because no sex was involved (as President Clinton claimed), the princess was also called a Virgin. This was the position of both Marys. Mary (mother) was called the Handmaiden and Virgin because she was Gods Wife. Similarly, Mary Magdalene was called the Tower (penis) and the prostitute (a term I will translate in a minute).
This is further confirmed by the biblical accounts of Maachah Tamar III, the daughter of Absalom (son of David) who is said to have worshipped an 'idol'. Further reading showed that this idol was an 'instar membri virilis'. Confused by this, I then found that the idol was a 'priapus'. Knowing my Greek mythology rather better than my Latin, I then discovered that the 'idol' she venerated was actually a penis. This demonstrated that phallic worship was current even in King Solomon's time. So Maachah Tamar III was also a Magdalene, a Maachah of the Tower (penis).
This is also why Mary Magdalene was always called a prostitute (pro-stitute) in later traditions. The term comes from the Latin pro statuere, meaning 'before the statue'. This describes her function precisely, because she stood before the statue of Atum and masturbated it to ensure the regeneration of the world. Thus the 'tower' in her title did indeed refer to the penis of Atum. You can imagine that the Jewish / Christian priesthood were appalled by all these 'pagan' rites, and sought to bury them in any way they could. By the way, Magdalen is actually an Egyptian name - Maktal, meaning 'tower'.
As an aside, Magdalene was not only Jesus' wife, she was also his sister. It was obligatory for pharaohs (even in exile) to marry their sister. Jesus was a pharaoh in exile, hence the title of 'carpenter' - many pharaohs were called Setepenre, or God's Carpenter.
I hope this is not too shocking....
