I wanted to know what other people go though when in a haunted area? I ask because I want to know if what I go through is common? Mainly just the physical feelings you get.
Let me say first that I don't fear haunted buildings or spirits thats why I am a little confused.
The first thing that happens I assume is quit common. I get goosebumps. Thats not what gets to me though. I cry but not because I'm upset. I feel nothing emotionally different my eyes just tear constantly. My sinuses also drain and not just a runny nose but again constant drainage (I know it sounds gross

). My tongue will tingle like when your leg regains curculation after sitting on it wrong for to long.
I though that it was just me doing it to myself till I went to a place near my home called Old Towne Spring (small community of 100+year old building converted to shops) when it happen to me in a store. I later discovered that there are quite a few haunted buildings in the area.
I just want to know if this is common or if anyone else has had similar experience.
I will describe my 1st experience later. I actually have to go do some work at my job. Go figure.

Meh, I usually don't feel anything different anymore, because I'm used to ghosts. But when I wasn't at first I'D get all cold, just me. Then I get itchy and little red rashes on my hands. Basically that's it. My friends have different ghost symptoms. I think Ghost symptoms are passed down from parent to offspring seeing as some are the same and some are different.

As I said before I have never SEEN a ghost, but have lived with a couple. The only feeling I get is when they speak, the back of my neck tingles, like an low electric current was passing across it. Then words would jump into my head, which I tell to my wife at once. Shes more sensitive than I am.
Right now she is working at a " Middle School" where at night a young girl has been rooming the halls. My wife asked why she was speaking to her and was told she was the only one so far to hear her. She died in a car crash not long ago, and is not ready to move on yet.
I really feel sorry for her.

I sometimes get warm from the psychic energy. I also may get a tingly feeling.

Ive never seen a ghost per se, but I saw a "shadow person" next to my closet once, but I didnt feel anything. I woke up in the middle of the night when I saw it, I did the whole look at it then rub your eyes to see if it goes away thing, and it didnt. But when it finally did I just felt a little nervous but went back to sleep. I get "feelings" a lot though. A tingly feeling in my back and legs, chills, and my heart will beat faster. Thats what normaly happens to me.

Everyone has different feelings when it comes to energy. For me it depends on the entity. If I feel the spirit is uneasy or not pleased with having me there I get knots in my stomach. Other times it's how my chakras react or how the different energy levels feel on my hands.

RavenCraft is correct about each person feeling and reacting differently.
Which is why it's so hard to tell people who are not effected how it feels. There is no constant to subject to scientific measurement or scrutiny. And there in lays the realm of the skeptic.

Thanks for the responses. I have never seen a spirit or anything like that either. I just want to be able to get over it. All in due time it seems.
Oh yea my 1st experience was this.
I am on my way back to my best friend Candices apartment from running to the store. She lived in an old complex in a shady part of town at the time. While I was gone Candice and her friend Kat where in the restroom getting ready to go out. When I came to the apartment door it was wide open and no one was in side. As I came into the living room the girls came in behind me. They where both breathing heavy and wide eyed. I asked wtf they where doing living the apt with the front door open. Candices reply "theres a F'n ghost in my bathroom". I laughed at her. We are both believers but I really wasn't taking her seriously. I asked what happened. She said "The hairdryer turned on by itself". I asked if they had been using it. She told me no and that they had it plugged or when they needed it. Now as I approach the restroom everythings fine. As soon as my foot hit the restroom tile I nearly collapsed. Not from lack of strenght but I think I just went into shock for a sec because of how I began to fell. Like I posted before about how I teared up and my sinus ran constantly. I got goosebumps and my tongue went numb-like. I could still fell my tongue but it just tingled alot. I also al of a sudden began to think about a little blonde haired girl playing makeup with Candice and Kat. When I nearly fell over the girls began to freak. I examined the hairdryer. It has a very stiff switch and was very unlikely that it got stuck between the on and off position and just popped on. I searched for every resonable explination for the hairdryer but nothing explaned it.
It's very likely that something could have happened in that complex to a child. Like I said it was a shady part of town (Houston) with alot of bad seeds. I considered the fact that I could have subconciously tricked myself into having these reactions. Until I went to Old Towne Spring then I knew it was most likely real.

I have always wondered (and it's along these lines) when I am scared or feel concerned that something is around me.. I wonder to myself if something was there, would it know how I am feeling? Would it know what I was thinking? Would it know I was scared?
Do you think they (ghosts) can read our minds?

I think ghost have the ability to enter your body and see what your thinking, this could explain the cold chill's (such as the one I get down my back) that people get when in a spooky area.

I also think that depending on the way your body take's the apperation, affect's what decision you have, either to stay, run, or feel afraid.

What happens to my body, is I usually get a high-pitched ringing, and get the feeling I'm being watched, or rather, someone's...hmm how to describe..."Reading" me? Yeah, like they're reading a book. And it just feels like someone's behind you...and it often get's very cold.

never really been with a ghost in the same room, so if i saw any ghostly activity, i'd want to stay in the room, but would most likely run scared to the car or something.

it is almost always different for me. I will almost always feel a different emotion that I know it is not my own.
But physically, I feel a pressure on my chest and feel as if there is a presence around me and this can be often define as if the pressure of air around me was building up. I have felt cold or chills, not always.
But mostly I feel it in the air, it is always thicker somehow or sometimes colder.

Thank you Venomshocker
the site seems to have many articles. I will read a few to see how it looks
I did not knew that these feelings where classic to negative energy. I never felt they where bad, some but not all. The others I felt like they where more desesperate, sad.
I will look more into this, it looks interesting to see what others have found out about this. Thanks again

OK,let me see.....
everything gets sort of quiet, sometimes I've exsperenced "oneness",that is,you feel interconected with everything around you...normaly I'm not scared,I just feel like I have a higher awareness than I normaly do.Sometimes it feels like theres more or less pressure in the air.And sometimes I think I half hear things.
thats about it.

First time I was in a haunted house... I got nothing...
But when we actually got some activity (small paranormal furniture movement), then some symptoms started up... I felt cold, well.. the air was cold. Everyone in the room can vouch for that, it seemed to drop a good 5 degrees. So I don't know if coldness is really a symptom for something physically happening to the environment.
For me, the more I stayed in the room the more drained I would get, till eventually it got to the point where everything just seemed a blur. And it was hard to even focus on anything going on around me. So I guess a bit of trance like in a way...
Lastly, in no particular order, sickness including cold/flu, bleeding nose (yeah happened only once, and not to me), dizzyness, vertigo, headache, buzzing in the ear, altered perception, depending on the situation release of different emotions (e.g. hopelessness and regret).
The more I would go into a haunted house.. more frequently... the less the symptoms would come, however going back in once or twice every few months I would get the major symptoms. I think in a way you get used to ghosts, not sure though.

ghosts can enter your body but when it happens, you're already "possessed" and that's a different story. when you're having goosebumps, I guess you're feeling cold. And ghosts are cold....

Ususally, when even discussing the paranormal, my eyes tear.
I have no idea why, but it's really akward talking about a haunting, and tearing up.
Even just hearing stories, I get goosebumps and start tearing up.
I'm pretty weird about that.

I get those symptoms too, I don't call them my "spirit detector", I call them my "dust mite detector".
Whilst It's perfectly sensible to assume spirits are present whenever your nose runs I'd recommend getting an allergy test.

The same thing happens to me when I am in the presence of a ghost;but my legs tingle, not my tongue, anyway since you told your first experiance, allow me to tell mine:
I was 5 years old. I was in my room, trying to sleep when I started to cry, and I remember think' Why am I crying' But my thoughts were cut off by a pressure on my legs(i was lying on my back) I turned my head to look and nothing was there, but my legs were tingling and I was still crying. I looked around my room and I saw a tail of a cat, my old cat that died the previos year. My cat and I were extremly close, and we loved each.
Thats my story. YEah.

The other night I had a very strong feeling, my entire body was vibrating.

For the most part if I see something along the paranormal lines I become very calm/numb, my mind kind of goes blank and my hands go ice cold. Unless the entity pops out at you abrubtly, then it's kinda scary.
