The following quotes show just how far the churches of today have strayed from the wisdom of their founding fathers.
Martin Luther
(1483-1546) (Lutheran)

"We here are of the conviction that the papacy is the seat of the true and real Antichrist...personally I declare that I owe the Pope no other obedience than that to Antichrist." (Aug. 18, 1520) Taken from "The Prophetic Faith of Our Fathers," Vol. 2, pg. 121 by Froom.
John Calvin
(1509-1564) (Presbyterian)

"Some persons think us too severe and censorious when we call the Roman pontiff Antichrist. But those who are of this opinion do not consider that they bring the same charge of presumption against Paul himself, after whom we speak and whose language we adopt...I shall briefly show that (Paul's words in II Thess. 2) are not capable of any other interpretation than that which applies them to the Papacy." Taken from "Institutes" by John Calvin.
Cotton Mather
(1663-1728) (Congregational Theologian)

"The oracles of God foretold the rising of an Antichrist in the Christian Church; and in the Pope of Rome, all the characteristics of that Antichrist are so marvelously answered that if any who read the Scriptures do not see it, there is a marvelous blindness upon them." Taken from "The Fall of Babylon" by Cotton Mather in Froom's book "The Prophetic Faith of Our Fathers," Vol. 3, pg. 113.
John Knox
(1505-1572) (Scotch Presbyterian)

Knox wrote to abolish "that tyranny which the pope himself has for so many ages exercised over the church" and that the pope should be recognized as "the very antichrist, and son of perdition, of whom Paul speaks." Taken from "The Zurich Letters" pg. 199 by John Knox.
Thomas Cranmer
(1489-1556) (Anglican)

"Whereof it followeth Rome to be the seat of antichrist, and the pope to be very antichrist himself. I could prove the same by many other scriptures, old writers, and strong reasons." (Referring to prophecies in Revelation and Daniel.) Taken from "Works" by Cranmer, Vol. 1, pp. 6-7.
John Wesley
(1703-1791) (Methodist)

Speaking of the Papacy he said, "He is in an emphatical sense, the Man of Sin, as he increases all manner of sin above measure. And he is, too, properly styled the Son of Perdition, as he has caused the death of numberless multitudes, both of his opposers and followers...He it is...that exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped...claiming the highest power, and highest honor...claiming the prerogatives which belong to God alone." Taken from "Antichrist and His Ten Kingdoms" by John Wesley, pg. 110.
Roger William
(1603-1683) (First Baptist Pastor in America)

He spoke of the Pope as "the pretended Vicar of Christ on earth, who sits as God over the Temple of God, exalting himself not only above all that is called God, but over the souls and consciences of all his vessals, yea over the Spirit of Christ, over the Holy Spirit, yea, and God himself...speaking against the God of heaven, thinking to changed times and laws: but he is the son of perdition (II Thess. 2)." Taken from "The Prophetic Faith of Our Fathers" by Froom, Vol. 3, pg. 52.

The pope's title, "Vicar of Christ" means antichrist by definition: JESUS CHRIST HAS NO VlCAR. Vicar, from the Latin "vicarius" means "in the place of" e.g. vicarius sacrifice of Christ being His sacrifice in the place of the sinner. Papal claims such as infallibility, Head of the Church, Holy Father, all seek to put the Pope in the place of Christ, which place only the Living Christ can have. This false assumption of Rome is expressly put forward in the Papal title "Vicar of Jesus Christ".
The New Testament was written in Greek, and the Greek translation of " vicar of Christ" is "Anti (instead of)-christos", or in our English Bible, "Antichrist". The word "Antichrist" is not just a word of wild insult, but is a Bible warning of the false role assumed by the Popes of Rome as supposed vicars of Christ, (See 1 John 2:18 D.V.).
The Greek word for "Vice President" is "Anti-Proedros"; Because Anti, which means opposite, also means "replacement" or "instead", as in Vicar or Viceroy or Vicarious.

Revelation 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the Earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon. And he exercises all the power of the first beast before him, and causes the Earth and them that dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
The first beast is the antichrist, and this second beast is refered to as the false prophet, Rev. 20. If the antichrist is going to be the last pope, then the false prophet must be the last jesuit superior general. It is common knowledge at the vatican that the jesuit superior general, who is referred to as the black pope, is the real power behind the vatican. The pope is just a figure head. The jesuit superior general has an army of over 200,000 jesuits pledged to obey him to the death, and these have an army of workers under their control that are set up in high positions in governments, business, law enforcement, entertainment, news media, organized crime, and even spies in protestant churches. These are all controlled by the jesuit superior general at the top. The relationship between the Pope and the jesuit superior general is the same as the relationship between the beast and the false prophet that is stated in Revelation 13:12. The jesuit superior general exercises all of the power of the pope, and he provides the manpower and the propaganda that tends to cause the world to serve or worship the pope.

In his book FIFTY YEARS IN THE CHURCH OF ROME, former catholic priest Charles Chiniquy had this to say about the Jesuits: "The Jesuits are a military organization, not a religious order. Their chief is the general of an army, not the mere father abbot of a monastery. And the aim of this organization is power. Power in the most despotic excercise. Absolute power, universal power, power to control the World by the volition (will) of a single man. Jesuitism is the most absolute of despotisms (dictatorship); and at the same time, the greatest and the most enormous of abuses." (The most monstrous hurt, injury and damage) "The general of the jesuits insists on being master, sovereign over the sovereign. Wherever the jesuits are admitted they will be masters, cost what it may. Their society is by nature dictatorial, and therefore it is the irreconcilable enemy of all constituted authority. Every act, every crime, however attrocious, is a meritorious work, if committed for the interest of the society of the jesuits, or by the order of its general. page 174, in the book, FIFTY YEARS IN THE CHURCH OF ROME, by Charles Chiniquy. Because they're famous.
A better question is, who knew god was a perfect source of extracting fame?
lol Sheesh.. Antichrists are like anyone that aren't christian. -OR- I think, it might be anyone that god wont allow into heaven. I know it's either of the above, but I can't be too sure!!!

I'm not really good at sarcasm in the form of text am I.

The Catholic church is way out there in left field for sure...of course you Catholics don't think that do you? tongue.gif But when you think about it....Catholic membership is drastically declining in America and Europe. The religion that is advancing faster than the rest is Islam. So...who is the AntiChrist: The Catholics or the Muslims? tongue.gif

But truly folks, what real difference does it make? You are all going to worship him. And please don't tell me you had rather lose everything you own and be killed...when push comes to shove...you WILL worship the AntiChrist. Damn straight you will! yes.gif
SilverCougar
somehow... I don't see myself falling over my heels to worship anyone....
hyuugaNeji

Revelations Chapter 13:

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he caused all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
SilverCougar
Uh... right then.

Nope.. still not going for it.

I'm merging your post with a relevant thread, Truth_Seeker. Additionally, you can use the 'search' function located at the top of every page to find other threads that address the antichrist, there are quite a few, no doubt you'll find your answer somewhere.

I think your best bet is the Bible.

You probably won't find anything else but that, however I could be wrong.

marduk
The book of revelations is the only place that any description of the anti christ is given anywhere in the bible.
But you got to remember that Christianity doesn't approve of prophecy, unless they can control the direction it takes by later editing. In fact it was once listed as a heresy and sign of the devil

12:1 A great sign was seen in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.

12:2 She was with child. She cried out in pain, laboring to give birth.

12:3 Another sign was seen in heaven. Behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven crowns.

12:4 His tail drew one third of the stars of the sky, and threw them to the earth. The dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child.

12:5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron. Her child was caught up to God, and to his throne.

12:6 The woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that there they may nourish her one thousand two hundred sixty days.

12:7 There was war in the sky. Michael and his angels made war on the dragon. The dragon and his angels made war.

12:8 They didn't prevail, neither was a place found for him any more in heaven.

12:9 The great dragon was thrown down, the old serpent, he who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

12:10 I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now is come the salvation, the power, and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ; for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.

12:11 They overcame him because of the Lamb's blood, and because of the word of their testimony. They didn't love their life, even to death.

12:12 Therefore rejoice, heavens, and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and to the sea, because the devil has gone down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has but a short time."

12:13 When the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child.

12:14 Two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, so that she might be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

12:15 The serpent spewed water out of his mouth after the woman like a river, that he might cause her to be carried away by the stream.

12:16 The earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river which the dragon spewed out of his mouth.

12:17 The dragon grew angry with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep God's commandments and hold Jesus' testimony.

13:1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads. On his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads, blasphemous names.

13:2 The beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.

13:3 One of his heads looked like it had been wounded fatally. His fatal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled at the beast.

13:4 They worshiped the dragon, because he gave his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?"

13:5 A mouth speaking great things and blasphemy was given to him. Authority to make war for forty-two months was given to him.

13:6 He opened his mouth for blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his dwelling, those who dwell in heaven.

13:7 It was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation was given to him.

13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been killed.

13:9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear.

13:10 If anyone has captivity, he will go. If anyone is with the sword, he must be killed. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

13:11 I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke like a dragon.

13:12 He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. He makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.

13:13 He performs great signs, even making fire come down out of the sky to the earth in the sight of people.

13:14 He deceives my own people who dwell on the earth because of the signs he was granted to do in front of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast who had the sword wound and lived.

13:15 It was given to him to give breath to it, to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as wouldn't worship the image of the beast to be killed.

13:16 He causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slave, to be given marks on their right hands, or on their foreheads;

13:17 and that no one would be able to buy or to sell, unless he has that mark, the name of the beast or the number of his name.

13:18 Here is wisdom. He who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is six hundred sixty-six.

14:1 I saw, and behold, the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him a number, one hundred forty-four thousand, having his name, and the name of his Father, written on their foreheads.

14:2 I heard a sound from heaven, like the sound of many waters, and like the sound of a great thunder. The sound which I heard was like that of harpists playing on their harps.

14:3 They sing a new song before the throne, and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the one hundred forty-four thousand, those who had been redeemed out of the earth.

14:4 These are those who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are those who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These were redeemed by Jesus from among men, the first fruits to God and to the Lamb.

14:5 In their mouth was found no lie, for they are blameless.

14:6 I saw an angel flying in mid heaven, having an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation, tribe, language, and people.

14:7 He said with a loud voice, "Fear the Lord, and give him glory; for the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and the springs of waters!"

14:8 Another, a second angel, followed, saying, "Babylon the great has fallen, which has made all the nations to drink of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality."

14:9 Another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a great voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead, or on his hand,

14:10 he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is prepared unmixed in the cup of his anger. He will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.

14:11 The smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever. They have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.

14:12 Here is the patience of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus."

14:13 I heard the voice from heaven saying, "Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them."

14:14 I looked, and behold, a white cloud; and on the cloud one sitting like a son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

14:15 Another angel came out from the temple, crying with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud, "Send forth your sickle, and reap; for the hour to reap has come; for the harvest of the earth is ripe!"

14:16 He who sat on the cloud thrust his sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.

14:17 Another angel came out from the temple which is in heaven. He also had a sharp sickle.

14:18 Another angel came out from the altar, he who has power over fire, and he called with a great voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, "Send forth your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for the earth's grapes are fully ripe!"

14:19 The angel thrust his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vintage of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

14:20 The winepress was trodden outside of the city, and blood came out from the winepress, even to the bridles of the horses, as far as one thousand six hundred stadia.

15:1 I saw another great and marvelous sign in the sky: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them God's wrath is finished.

15:2 I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who overcame the beast, his image, and the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God.

15:3 They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God, the Almighty; Righteous and true are your ways, you King of the nations.

15:4 Who wouldn't fear you, Lord, And glorify your name? For you only are holy. For all the nations will come and worship before you. For your righteous acts have been revealed."

15:5 After these things I looked, and the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.

15:6 The seven angels who had the seven plagues came out, clothed with pure, bright linen, and wearing golden sashes around their breasts.

15:7 One of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.

15:8 The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power. No one was able to enter into the temple, until the seven plagues of the seven angels would be finished.

16:1 I heard a loud voice out of the temple, saying to the seven angels, "Go and pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God on the earth!"

16:2 The first went, and poured out his bowl into the earth, and it became a harmful and evil sore on the people who had the mark of the beast, and who worshiped his image.

16:3 The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man. Every living thing in the sea died.

16:4 The third poured out his bowl into the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood.

16:5 I heard the angel of the waters saying, "You are righteous, who are and who were, you Holy One, because you have judged these things.

16:6 For they poured out the blood of the saints and the prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. They deserve this."

16:7 I heard the altar saying, "Yes, Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are your judgments."

16:8 The fourth poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was given to him to scorch men with fire.

16:9 People were scorched with great heat, and people blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues. They didn't repent and give him glory.

16:10 The fifth poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was darkened. They gnawed their tongues because of the pain,

16:11 and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores. They didn't repent of their works.

16:12 The sixth poured out his bowl on the great river, the Euphrates. Its water was dried up, that the way might be made ready for the kings that come from the sunrise.

16:13 I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits, something like frogs;

16:14 for they are spirits of demons, performing signs; which go forth to the kings of the whole inhabited earth, to gather them together for the war of that great day of God, the Almighty.

16:15 "Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his clothes, so that he doesn't walk naked, and they see his shame."

16:16 He gathered them together into the place which is called in Hebrew, Megiddo.

16:17 The seventh poured out his bowl into the air. A loud voice came forth out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "It is done!"

16:18 There were lightnings, sounds, and thunders; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since there were men on the earth, so great an earthquake, so mighty.

16:19 The great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God, to give to her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

16:20 Every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.

16:21 Great hailstones, about the weight of a talent, came down out of the sky on people. People blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, for this plague is exceedingly severe.

17:1 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, "Come here. I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who sits on many waters,

17:2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and those who dwell in the earth were made drunken with the wine of her fornication."

17:3 He carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet-colored animal, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.

17:4 The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her fornication.

17:5 And on her forehead a name was written, "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."

17:6 I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered with great amazement.

17:7 The angel said to me, "Why do you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

17:8 The beast that you saw was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the abyss and to go into destruction. Those who dwell on the earth and whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel when they see that the beast was, and is not, and shall be present.

17:9 Here is the mind that has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits.

17:10 They are seven kings. Five have fallen, the one is, the other has not yet come. When he comes, he must continue a little while.

17:11 The beast that was, and is not, is himself also an eighth, and is of the seven; and he goes to destruction.

17:12 The ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority as kings, with the beast, for one hour.

17:13 These have one mind, and they give their power and authority to the beast.

17:14 These will war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings. They also will overcome who are with him, called and chosen and faithful."

17:15 He said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages.

17:16 The ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the prostitute, and will make her desolate, and will make her naked, and will eat her flesh, and will burn her utterly with fire.

17:17 For God has put in their hearts to do what he has in mind, and to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God should be accomplished.

17:18 The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth."

18:1 After these things, I saw another angel coming down out of the sky, having great authority. The earth was illuminated with his glory.

18:2 He cried with a mighty voice, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird!

18:3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of her impure passion, the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury."

18:4 I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her, my people, that you have no participation in her sins, and that you don't receive of her plagues,

18:5 for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities.

18:6 Return to her just as she returned, and repay her double as she did, and according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix to her double.

18:7 However much she glorified herself, and grew wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning. For she says in her heart, 'I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.'

18:8 Therefore in one day her plagues will come: death, mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burned with fire; for the Lord God who has judged her is strong.

18:9 The kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and lived wantonly with her, will weep and wail over her, when they look at the smoke of her burning,

18:10 standing far away for the fear of her torment, saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For your judgment has come in one hour.'

18:11 The merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise any more;

18:12 merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, all expensive wood, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble;

18:13 and cinnamon, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, sheep, horses, chariots, bodies, and people's souls.

18:14 The fruits which your soul lusted after have been lost to you, and all things that were dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you will find them no more at all.

18:15 The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far away for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning;

18:16 saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!

18:17 For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.' Every shipmaster, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,

18:18 and cried out as they looked at the smoke of her burning, saying, 'What is like the great city?'

18:19 They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!' For in one hour is she made desolate.

18:20 Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints, apostles, and prophets; for God has judged your judgment on her."

18:21 A mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, "Thus with violence will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and will be found no more at all.

18:22 The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will be heard no more at all in you. No craftsman, of whatever craft, will be found any more at all in you. The sound of a mill will be heard no more at all in you.

18:23 The light of a lamp will shine no more at all in you. The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will be heard no more at all in you; for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery all the nations were deceived.

18:24 In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on the earth."

19:1 After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, "Hallelujah! Salvation, power, and glory belong to our God:

19:2 for true and righteous are his judgments. For he has judged the great prostitute, who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality, and he has avenged the blood of his servants at her hand."

19:3 A second said, "Hallelujah! Her smoke goes up forever and ever."

19:4 The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne, saying, "Amen! Hallelujah!"

19:5 A voice came forth from the throne, saying, "Give praise to our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, the small and the great!"

19:6 I heard something like the voice of a great multitude, and like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of mighty thunders, saying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns!

19:7 Let us rejoice and be exceedingly glad, and let us give the glory to him. For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his wife has made herself ready."

19:8 It was given to her that she would array herself in bright, pure, fine linen: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

19:9 He said to me, "Write, 'Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.'" He said to me, "These are true words of God."

19:10 I fell down before his feet to worship him. He said to me, "Look! Don't do it! I am a fellow bondservant with you and with your brothers who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy."

19:11 I saw the heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it is called Faithful and True. In righteousness he judges and makes war.

19:12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has names written and a name written which no one knows but he himself.

19:13 He is clothed in a garment sprinkled with blood. His name is called "The Word of God."

19:14 The armies which are in heaven followed him on white horses, clothed in white, pure, fine linen.

19:15 Out of his mouth proceeds a sharp, double-edged sword, that with it he should strike the nations. He will rule them with a rod of iron. He treads the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty.

19:16 He has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

19:17 I saw an angel standing in the sun. He cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the sky, "Come! Be gathered together to the great supper of God,

19:18 that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, and small and great."

19:19 I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him who sat on the horse, and against his army.

19:20 The beast was taken, and with him the false prophet who worked the signs in his sight, with which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

19:21 The rest were killed with the sword of him who sat on the horse, the sword which came forth out of his mouth. All the birds were filled with their flesh.

20:1 I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand.

20:2 He seized the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole inhabited earth, and bound him for a thousand years,

20:3 and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were finished. After this, he must be freed for a short time.

20:4 I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as didn't worship the beast nor his image, and didn't receive the mark on their forehead and on their hand. They lived, and reigned with Christ for the thousand years.

20:5 The rest of the dead didn't live until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

20:6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over these, the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with him one thousand years.

20:7 And after the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison,

20:8 and he will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

20:9 They went up over the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. Fire came down out of heaven from God, and devoured them.

20:10 The devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are also. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

20:11 I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. There was found no place for them.

20:12 I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened books. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.

20:13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works.

20:14 Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

20:15 If anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

21:1 I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more.

21:2 I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride adorned for her husband.

21:3 I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, "Behold, God's dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

21:4 He will wipe away from them every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away."

21:5 He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." He said, "Write, for these words of God are faithful and true."

21:6 He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.

21:7 He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.

21:8 But for the cowardly, unbelieving, sinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

21:9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls, who were loaded with the seven last plagues came, and he spoke with me, saying, "Come here. I will show you the wife, the Lamb's bride."

21:10 He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,

21:11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, as if it was a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

21:12 having a great and high wall; having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.

21:13 On the east were three gates; and on the north three gates; and on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.

21:14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.

21:15 He who spoke with me had for a measure, a golden reed, to measure the city, its gates, and its walls.

21:16 The city lies foursquare, and its length is as great as its breadth. He measured the city with the reed, Twelve thousand twelve stadia. Its length, breadth, and height are equal.

21:17 Its wall is one hundred forty-four cubits, by the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.

21:18 The construction of its wall was jasper. The city was pure gold, like pure glass.

21:19 The foundations of the city's wall were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;

21:20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, jacinth; and the twelfth, amethyst.

21:21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each one of the gates was made of one pearl. The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

21:22 I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God, the Almighty, and the Lamb, are its temple.

21:23 The city has no need for the sun, neither of the moon, to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

21:24 The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.

21:25 Its gates will in no way be shut by day (for there will be no night there),

21:26 and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it so that they may enter.

21:27 There will in no way enter into it anything profane, or one who causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.

22:1 He showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb,

22:2 in the middle of its street. On this side of the river and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruits, yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

22:3 There will be no curse any more. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants serve him.

22:4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

22:5 There will be no night, and they need no lamp light; for the Lord God will illuminate them. They will reign forever and ever.

22:6 He said to me, "These words are faithful and true. The Lord God of the spirits of the prophets sent his angel to show to his bondservants the things which must happen soon."

22:7 "Behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book."

22:8 Now I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. When I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who had shown me these things.

22:9 He said to me, "See you don't do it! I am a fellow bondservant with you and with your brothers, the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God."

22:10 He said to me, "Don't seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand.

22:11 He who acts unjustly, let him act unjustly still. He who is filthy, let him be filthy still. He who is righteous, let him do righteousness still. He who is holy, let him be holy still."

22:12 "Behold, I come quickly. My reward is with me, to repay to each man according to his work.

22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

22:14 Blessed are those who do his commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

22:15 Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

22:16 I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify these things to you for the assemblies. I am the root and the offspring of David; the Bright and Morning Star."

22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" He who hears, let him say, "Come!" He who is thirsty, let him come. He who desires, let him take the water of life freely.

22:18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, if anyone adds to them, may God add to him the plagues which are written in this book.

22:19 If anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, may God take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book.

22:20 He who testifies these things says, "Yes, I come quickly." Amen! Yes, come, Lord Jesus.

22:21 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with all the saints. Amen.

The bible describes the antichrist.
Here are bible verses about the antichrist with possible explanations comparing them to world events.

Dan.7:24,25 Dan. 9:27 Dan. 7:7, 8,20,23,25 Dan. 2:44 Rev 13:1,2 Dan 8:23, 25 Dan 13:5,7, 11,12 Rev. 17:8 Rev. 17:11,13,14 Dan 11:21, 31, 36, 37, 38 45 2Thessalonians 2:4,8 Dan112:7 Rev 14:11 Rev.15:2 Rev 19:20 Rev20:10

48 Prophecies that the Antichrist will fulfill How will anybody know who the antichrist is? Is there any sure way of knowing? Yes, there is! The Bible gives specific clues as to what this "man of sin" will be like. Here we will take a look at scripture to find out exactly what is predicted for the "son of perdition". The antichrist will be a man - Daniel 7:24-25 He will confirm a covenant for 7 years - Daniel 9:27 Now also, this does not mean that he creates this covenant. The word here for "confirm" is 1396 gabar (gaw-bar'); a primitive root; to be strong; by implication, to prevail, act insolently: KJV-- exceed, confirm, be great, be mighty, prevail, put to more [strength], strengthen, be stronger, be valiant. The antichrist will strengthen a covenant for a 7 year time span. Now this could be an existing covenant (like the Jerusalem Covenant) or a new covenant drawn up at that time. He will rise among 10 kings - Daniel 7:8 This 10 nation union will be a revived Holy Roman Empire - Daniel 2:44 He will uproot 3 kings from the original 10 kings to gain political power - Daniel 7:8 His 10 nation union will merge into a world government which he will dominate - Revelations 13:1-2 Now this also, could refer to several things. First, the 10 nations could merge into an EXISTING world government, such as the U.N. Or it could for a new world government, much like the U.N. Or, this 10 nation confederation could be something like the new 10 nation common stock market. A union like this would definitely rule the world, without having a "seat" of power. Whoever controls the money, controls the globe. He will ascend to power on a platform of peace. By peace, he will destroy many - Daniel 8:25 He will be promoted and exalted by a miracle working religious partner (false prophet) - Revelations 13:11-12 He was, and is not, and yet is - Revelations 17:8 More than likely this is referring to political power. The antichrist will have ruled, but then be taken out of power. Only to rise back up again to power as the head of the One World Government. The world government over which he rules will be a red (communistic or socialistic) government - Revelations 17:14 The antichrist will be preceded by 7 kings or rulers. He will be the 8th king. He will also be "of" the 7 - Revelations 17:11 Now this scripture has many different ways it can be viewed. The word "goeth" in the scripture is 5217 hupago (hoop-ag'-o); from 5259 and 71; to lead (oneself) under, i.e. withdraw or retire (as if sinking out of sight), literally or figuratively: KJV-- depart, get hence, go (a-) way. So we see that he will withdraw or retire from sight. But will rise back up again to power. Now this could be taken as to mean 7 kings. Or this could be taken as 7 World Governments that have ruled. So far there have been 6. 1. Egypt. 2. Assyria. 3. Babylon. 4. Medo-Persia. 5. Greece. 6. Rome He will have a mouth speaking great things. Very boastful - Daniel 7:8 His look will be more stout than his fellows - Daniel 7:20 The word "stout" means 7227 rab (rab); by contracted from 7231; abundant (in quantity, size, age, number, rank, quality): KJV-- (in) abound (-undance, -ant, -antly), captain, elder, enough, exceedingly, full, great (-ly, man, one), increase, long (enough, [time]), (do, have) many (-ifold, things, a time), ([ship-]) master, mighty, more, (too, very) much, multiply (-tude), officer, often [-times], plenteous, populous, prince, process [of time], suffice (-lent). So this can have several meanings. It could mean one of the following: the antichrist will be larger in size than everybody else, will be older than everybody else, will have more of a "following" than anybody else, is a higher military or political rank than anybody else, or is more qualified than anybody else. What ever this verse is speaking about, it is obvious when you look at him. He will have a fierce countenance - Daniel 8:23 He will understand puzzling things - Daniel 8:23 He will cause craft to prosper - Daniel 8:25 It is interesting to note the definition of the word "craft" here. It is 4820 mirmah (meer-maw'); from 7411 in the sense of deceiving; fraud: KJV-- craft, deceit (-ful, -fully), false, feigned, guile, subtilly, treachery. No wonder, for the Bible says that he is the father of lies. So his policy or his success will make it possible for his deception of the world to prosper. God said that if you do not believe the truth, that he would send strong delusion that you should believe a lie. He apparently assumes world dominating power 3 1/2 years after he confirms the covenant. He then will continue to reign for 42 months - Revelations 13:5 The Abomination of Desolation is the event that signals the beginning of this final 42 months - Daniel 9:27 He opposes God - 2 Thessalonians 2:4 He will speak marvelous things against the God of gods - Daniel 11:36 He will exalt himself above all that is called God - 2 Thessalonians 2:4 He will sit in the temple of God - 2 Thessalonians 2:4 He will claim to be God (or an incarnation of God) - 2 Thessalonians 2:4 He will take away the daily sacrifices from the temple - Daniel 11:31 He will plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain - Daniel 11:45 It would seem here that the Antichrist will setup small "fortifications" in between the sea and Jerusalem, to help keep control over things in distant areas away from the main offices. He will have power to make war with the saints and to overcome them - Revelations 13:7 He will continue this war with the saints for 3 1/2 years - Daniel 7:21, 25 This time of Great Tribulation is launched upon the Earth by the antichrist at the Abomination of Desolation. - Matthew 24:15,21. Up until this time, it would seem that he is a man of peace and not war. But now he shows his true colors. Perhaps is possessed by Satan himself at this point as well. Which would account for the false front being dropped at this time. During this time, the antichrist will scatter the power of the holy people - Daniel 12:7 He will rule a mighty and strong kingdom - Daniel 7:7 He was given power over all kindreds, tongues and nations - Revelations 13:7 His kingdom will devour the whole earth - Daniel 7:23 He will have great military power that will stand behind him, to enforce his laws - Daniel 11:31 He will try to change times and laws; and they will be given into his power for 3 1/2 years - Daniel 7:25 He will give great honor to the God of forces, with gold, silver, jewels, etc - Daniel 11:38 He will prosper in everything that he does - Daniel 8:24 He will not regard the God of his fathers - Daniel 11:37 He will not regard the desire of women - Daniel 11:37 It is interesting to note here that most people think that he will be a homosexual, which could be. The mark of the beast will be the amount of his name - Revelations 14:11 All that dwell upon the Earth will worship him, except those who's names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life - Revelations 15:2 He will have an image made after him - Revelations 15:2 This could also be in reference to his kingdom's logo or insignia. Much like the U.N. has a logo that every soldier on a U.N. mission must wear, there might also be a logo or insignia that his armies would have to wear His coming will be after the workings of Satan - 2 Thessalonians 2:8 He will fight against Jesus Christ at Armageddon (and loose I might add!) - Revelations 17:14 He will stand against the Prince of princes - Daniel 8:25 The Lord will consume him with the spirit of his mouth (which is the Word of God) - 2 Thessalonians 2:8 The Lord will destroy him with the brightness of his coming (which is his glory) - 2 Thessalonians 2:8 He will be cast alive into the lake of fire - Revelations 19:20 He will be tormented day and night for ever and ever - Revelations 20:10

Much like the U.N. has a logo that every soldier on a U.N. mission must wear, there might also be a logo or insignia that his armies would have to wear His coming will be after the workings of Satan - 2 Thessalonians 2:8 He will fight against Jesus Christ at Armageddon (and loose I might add!) - Revelations 17:14 He will stand against the Prince of princes - Daniel 8:25 The Lord will consume him with the spirit of his mouth (which is the Word of God) - 2 Thessalonians 2:8 The Lord will destroy him with the brightness of his coming (which is his glory) - 2 Thessalonians 2:8 He will be cast alive into the lake of fire - Revelations 19:20 He will be tormented day and night for ever and ever - Revelations 20:10

you gotta love the way that christianity plays with names
try and tell me again that when they say babaylon they mean rome
thats bs quite frankly
How convenient that the christians would say that when they know full well that it was babylon that threatened judaism and that christianity arose from judaism in the first place
it wasn't the only thing missed in the translation was it

I'm sure that someone will come up with some (il)logical reason why Babylon=Rome.

I guess when the bible talks of the children of Isreal, they actually mean someplace else.

Remember kids: The bible is absolutely truthful and factual because it is gods word.
Except when its written in cypher or symbolism.

Babylon does not mean Rome. When the Bible says "Babylon" it means Iraq.

Babylon will rise again, and their will be a religious center there. This will probably be influenced by the Catholic faith.

The church of Rome could very well play a huge part. A church will rise out of Babylon, and the church will be considered Christian. This church and its country will be in constant turmoil. And there will be much friction between the two of them. Eventually, both the church, and Babylon will be destroyed due to some kind of war.

There is, in the greeting at the end of the first epistle: "The Church

here
in Babylon, united with you by God's election, sends you her greeting,

and
so does my son, Mark" (1 Pet. 5:13, Knox). Babylon is a code-word for
Rome. It is used that way six times in the last book of the Bible and in extra-biblical works like the Sibylline Oracles (5:159f), the Apocalypse of Baruch (2:1), and 4 Esdras (3:1). Eusebius Pamphilius, in The Chronicle, composed about A.D. 303, noted that "It is said that Peter's first epistle, in which he makes mention of Mark, was composed at Rome itself; and that he himself indicates this, referring to the city figuratively as Babylon."

the angel reveals to John that the woman "is that great city
which reigneth over the kings of the earth" (Revelation 17:18). Is there
such a city? Yes, and again only one: Vatican City. Popes crowned
and deposed kings and emperors, exacting obedience by threatening
them with excommunication. At the time of the First Vatican Council
in 1869, J.H. Ignaz von Dollinger, Professor of Church History in
Munich, warned that Pope Pius IX would force the Council to make
an infallible dogma out of "that pet theory of the Popes - that they
could force kings and magistrates, by excommunication and its
consequences, to carry out their sentences of confiscation,
imprisonment, and death..."

The
Vatican is the only city which exchanges ambassadors with nations,
and she does so with every major country on earth. Ambassadors
come to the Vatican from every major country, including the United
States, not out of mere courtesy but because the pope is the most
powerful ruler on earth today. Even President Clinton journeyed to
Denver in August 1993 to greet the pope. He addressed him as "Holy
Father" and "Your Holiness."

Yes, ambassadors of nations come to Washington D.C., to Paris, or
to London, but only because the national government has its capital
there. Nor does Washington, Paris, London, or any other city send
ambassadors to other countries. Only Vatican City does so. Unlike
any other city on earth, the Vatican is acknowledged as a sovereign
state in its own right, separate and distinct from the nation of Italy
surrounding it. There is no other city in history of which this has been
true, and such is still the case today.

Only of the Vatican could it be said that a city reigns over the kings of
the earth. The phrase "the worldwide influence of Washington" means
the influence not of that city but of the United States, which has its
capital there. When one speaks, however, of the influence of the
Vatican around the world, that is exactly what is meant - the city and
the worldwide power of Roman Catholicism and its leader the pope.
Vatican City is absolutely unique.

One eighteenth-century historian counted 95 popes who claimed to
have divine power to depose kings and emperors. Historian Walter
James wrote that Pope Innocent III (1198-1216) "held all Europe in
his net." Gregory IX (1227-41) thundered that the pope was lord and
master of everyone and everything.

Pope Nicholas I (858-67) declared: "We [popes] alone have the
power to bind and to loose, to absolve Nero and to condemn him;
and Christians cannot, under penalty of excommunication, execute
other judgment than ours, which alone is infallible." In commanding
one king to destroy another, Nicholas wrote:

We order you, in the name of religion, to invade his
states, burn his cities, and massacre his people…

She is drunk with "the blood of the saints, and with the
blood of the martyrs of Jesus..." (Revelation 17:6).
Many real christian martyrs of Jesus were murdered in catholic inquisitions.
The most ghastly abomination of all was the system of
torture. The accounts of its cold-blooded operations
make one shudder at the capacity of human beings for
cruelty. And it was decreed and regulated by the popes
who claim to represent Christ on earth....

"Careful notes were taken not only of all that was
confessed by the victim, but of his shrieks, cries,
lamentations, broken interjections and appeals for
mercy. The most moving things in the literature of the
Inquisition are not the accounts of their sufferings left by
the victims but the sober memoranda kept by the
officers of the tribunals. We are distressed and horrified
just because there is no intention to shock us."

"The total submission that Rome requires has been expressed by many popes, but none said it more clearly than Nicholas I (858–67):
‘It is evident that the popes can neither be bound nor unbound by any earthly power, nor even by that of the apostle [Peter], if he should return upon the earth; since Constantine the Great has recognized that the pontiffs held the place of God upon earth, the divinity not being able to be judged by any living man. We are, then, infallible, and whatever may be our acts, we are not accountable for them but to ourselves’" (A Woman Rides the Beast, pp. 153–154).

So the popes have claimed that they hold "the place of God on earth"! And what is most frightening is that they continue to make such claims—and even get away with it in our so-called "modern" world. Because the Roman Catholic Church is such an omnipresent and powerful entity, the media usually treads very lightly in attacking even the most outrageous and blasphemous claims of the modern popes and clergy.

This verse is about the antichrist, compare it to the papacy:
II Thes. 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

The following is blasphemy

The Bull Unam Sanctam... Issued by POPE BONIFACE VIII reads as follows: "The Roman Pontiff judges all men, but is judged by no one. We declare, assert, define and pronounce: to be subject to the Roman Pontiff is to every human creature necessary for salvation that which was spoken of Christ 'thou has subdued all things under his feet' may well seem verified in me... I have the authority of the King of Kings. I am all in all and above all, so that God himself and I, the vicar of God, have but one consistory, and I am able to do all that God can do." "Christ entrusted His office to the chief pontiff;... but all power in heaven and in earth has been given to Christ;... therefore the chief pontiff, who is His vicar, will have this power." Corpus Juris chap. 1 column 29, translated from a gloss on the words Porro Subesse Romano Pontiff "We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty" ...Pope Leo XIII "All the names which are attributed to Christ in Scripture, inplying His supremacy over the church, are also attributed to the Pope." Bellamin, "On the Authority of Councils," book 2, Chapter 17. "For thou art the shepherd, thou art the physician, thou art the director, thou art the husbandman, finally thou art another God on earth." Labbe and Cossart's "History of the Councils." Vol. XIV, col. 109 The title "Lord God the Pope" can be found within a gloss of Extravagantes of Pope John XXII, title 14, chapter 4, Declaramus.
In an Antwerp edition of the Extravagantes, the words, "Dominum Deum Nostrum Papam" (Our Lord God the Pope) can be found in column 153. In a Paris edition, they are found in column 140. "Hence the Pope is crowned with a triple crown, as king of Heaven and earth, and purgatory." Prompta Bibliotheca," Feraris, Vol. VI, p. 26, art. "Papa." Roman Catholic Canon Law stipulates through Pope Innocent III that the Roman pontiff is "the vicegerent upon earth, not a mere man, but of a very God;" and in a gloss on the passage it is explained that this is because he is the vicegerent of Christ, who is "very God and very man." Decretales Domini Gregorii translatione Episcoporum, (on the
transference of Bishops), title 7, chapter 3; Corpus Juris Canonice (2nd Leipzig ed., 1881), col. 99;(Paris, 1612), tom. 2
Note: Pope Boniface VIII (1294-1303) did not hesitate to have both a mother
and daughter as his mistresses together. He was a fornicator.

Read the online book, THE TWO BABYLONS, by Alexander Hislop at this website:
http://www.biblebelievers.com/babylon/index.htm

It describes in detail how much of the rituals and practices in the Romish church came from babylonian baal worship.

Here is a catholic cardinal admitting it; the romish church has pagan practices.
Cardinal Newman admits in his book that; the "temples,
incense, oil lamps, votive offerings, holy water, Holidays, and
seasons of devotion, processions, blessings of the fields,
sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure (of priests, munks and nuns),
images, and statues... are all of PAGAN ORIGIN." The Development of the Christian Religion Cardinal Newman
p.359

All of the forms of paganism originated in babylon. When the people were scattered into all lands, from the tower of babel, they took the same pagan religion with them using different names. It got into the pagan Roman form of paganism, and from there, much of it got into the Romish church today.

What if they were all part of the abomination of desolation
fullywired
There are lots of pagan practices that have been assimilated into the christian religion, the main purpose was to help in the conversion of pagans to christianity. The celebration of easter was a pagan spring rite ,christmas another pagan rite
QUOTE
Virtually all Biblical authorities and secular historians agree that the celebration of Christ’s birth did not enter the church until hundreds of years after Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. It was not until the fifth century that the Roman Catholic church ordered this day to be celebrated.

Furthermore, the church directed this celebration to take place on the same day as the pagan festival dedicated to worshiping the sun god.

The connection between Christmas and a variety of pagan practices is thoroughly
documented. Not only the day, but its symbols, are intimately connected to religious practices embraced by the pagans
December 25 is referred to in documents as Christmas day in A.D. 324 for the first time. Under the Roman emperor Justinian [in the 500's] it was recognized as an official holiday. An old Roman festival played a major part in the choice of this particular day. December 25 in ancient Rome was the ‘Dies Natali Invictus,’ ‘the birthday of the unconquered,’ the day of the winter solstice and at the same time, in Rome, the last day of the Saturnalia, which had long since degenerated into a week of unbridled carnival...
