OK. So this was taken at night in the woods at Fort Armistead, MD. This fort was built around 1900 & is said to have had an uneventful history. I can't find much information on it.

Anyway. For my friend's birthday we went ghost hunting there. We were taking pictures with my boyfriend's digital camera & came out with nothing. No orbs, no ecto. We were just about to give up while passing a rundown post by the road, when I was compelled to take a picture down the path, in the direction of the post. The result was this:

I've removed the image, it is in an attachment a few posts down.

I've been told it's a camera malfunction, a reflection, a finger, a camera strap. The camera was working fine, there was nothing to reflect off of, my finger could not have been in the way & there was no strap.

I see an outline of a figure. Fire away.

It's really hard to tell. Did you feel anything just before taking the picture? a breeze , change in temperature?

All I remember is being compelled to take the picture. We were going to head back & as I walked past the path, I suddenly HAD to take a picture. I don't know why.

If you brighten the photo you can see the trees & everything in the background... so there is a picture there. The flash went off, if it was a camera malfunction wouldn't we be able to see the trees more clearly, instead of an extremely bright figure sucking up all that light?

Sorry...it just doesn't look like a ghost to me. Looks more like a finger that got in the way. I believe in ghosts, but I don't think you're going to persuade too many people with this. Keep trying!

I see a white paintbrush with a bad blend effect, mainly from the way the leaves are not pizellated, yet the "ghost" is quite clearly more pixellated than the rest of the picture...

Sorry, that's just my take on it... it is a clearly doctored image. The even bigger giveaway than the badly blended colour is how the left side of the image is the exact same whiteness as the background outside of the edges of the picture, a big sign someone just got a white brush and fuzzed/erased it out to the standard background of paint/photoshop. A clear fake, and very easily reproduced, try it yourself someone. original.gif

EDIT - You can even see major dithering, lol, it really is that bad.
Pie
I appreciate that, but it's not a finger.

I took the picture, it's a zoom lense, & the only way a finger would be the cause is if I were holding the camera in a way that would be completely ridiculous.

Not arguing. Just clarifying that it's NOT a finger, whatever else it may be.

Whoa whoa whoa. I take serious offense to that. I would NEVER doctor a photograph. That is how the image appeared on the screen the second after I took it. The only time that pic has ever been in photoshop was to reduce the image size so I could post it on this forum.

Now, if it's a camera malfunction - FINE. But it was not caused by an obstruction & it is most certainly not a product of Photoshop or any other paint program.
Richdog
I'm sorry if you took offence but I don't know you so cannot tell whether you would doctor an image or not, or whether your offence is genuine. You are a new poster and yourt character is unknown.

However, I just showed it to my friend and he thought the exact same as me. I'm no image expert but I know the basics, and that really is a clear doctor of the image, for the reasons I described in the post above. There's not really any getting away from it in my eyes... not a camera malfunction, or a flash, or a ghost. A badly, sinply tampered image.

I'm not saying I am 100% correct, but i'd put money on it... original.gif
Pie
Well... you'd be losing your money.

I know I'm new. But only because I generally lurk around places like this because of the way people recieve things.

There were 3 people in addition to myself who saw me take the picture & saw the direct result.

I can see where it appears pixelated. I've blended people out of photo using something with similar fading abilities.

But I assure you this picture was never touched.
Richdog
Hey i'm not a skeptic and i've seen a fair few photos that have made me think "Whoa I can't explain that...". But this just ain't one of them. As I say, it's my own personal opinion and no-one else's... original.gif
DoubtingThomas
Doctored? I dunno, looks more like a glare from a finger or a nylon strap to me... But of course, the fact that it's on the web means that it had to go through a photomanip program, so the chance is always there.

Oh, and don't ever take a photograph when you feel 'compelled' to. Because when you are compelled to, your mind can take any little thing as evidence of a ghost.
