Full Version: brain case too small ?
Unexplained Mysteries Discussion Forums > Unexplained Mysteries > Metaphysics, Psychology & Psychic Phenomena
et's daddy
ive read in other threads that intelligence is relative to the size of a body in relation to the size of the brain

like dino's were dumb cause they had big bodies and small brains

humans have the best brain to body size ratio therefore we are the smartest
i believe thats what the post was getting at

so my question is: is there a way to make the human brain bigger to allow for much larger human intelligence ?

now i dont really know if or better how this would work so im asking

maybe if a small child had no top to their skull could their brain grow larger then normal and would that lead to them possibly being super intelligent ?

maybe i took the post where i got this idea the wrong way

Making the human brain bigger is a very bad idea, it actually makes the us less intelligent and slow. The brain size of current humans is actually optimal right now. Einstein had an average brian size, mabey a bit smaller than average, yet he was VERY intelligent.

Super Intelligence will probably emerge, probably through neural Computers, enhancing humans using genetic technologies.

To enhance our intelligence you will need to ride that exponential curve and with the transhumans and upgrade yourself w00t.gif

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS GO HERE

its a video from POPTECH, ray kurzweil is talking after the guy introduces him. he talks about human super intelligence and upgrading us, artificial intelligence.

he has a little 5min presentation on virtual reality first, but after that he talks about upgrading us humans and will prob happen in the next 20 years.

So go take a look, its a facinating talk and will make you think thumbsup.gif

omg i would love to be upgraded, that wuold be awesome

as long as you not old and gonna die soon you should be able to haha

Yes, I also believe that increasing human brain size would not lead to super intelligence. In fact, i remember i watched an investigation into the question of "Is bigger, better"... and the actual conclusion was, if the brain becomes too big, connections with in it become to large, and everything inside it starts to slow down, and therefore, information travelling from synapses etc occurs at a much slower rate. As we know, everything that takes place in the human brain happens extremely quickly, and therefore, bigger would not be better.

Phew... not bad for a first post thumbsup.gif

well i only brought it up cause people said dino's were stupid cause their brains were too small in relation to their bodies

so i thought maybe.....

I seem to remember reading that we only use 10% of what we have. Well most of us do anyway. It would make more sense to me to use 25% or 50% instead of a bigger brain.

i agree and i have heard that as well

but how would we go about using the rest ?

could the rest be used for psi stuff ?

Cool isn’t it, just like in the Matrix! w00t.gif

Or do we need to be enslaved? no.gif

It is indeed NOT true that we only use 10% of our brains. We use much more than 10% !! I wish i had a link to back this up for me, but trust me it is true!! Welcome to the forums Dan1!

seems when they do brain surgery the patiant must emain concious so they can make sure they dont do damage

while in there they poke a certain spot and his legs may twitch or arm may raise
shows them all is well

cant they just poke around and map the entire brain ?

see what all it can do ?

or doesnt it work that way ?
