Deception
This is my REAL story of growing up in Mexico city and jumping the border to america.

Well my name is Jose an i am 20 years of age. I was born in Mexico city. In the poorest part of the city. And i have heard alot of americans mad about the mexicans who jump the border into america. Well i am here to tell you why we do it.

Growing up in Mexico city made the ghettos of the states look like cake. I got my first job on a Fighting rooster farm when i was 6 years old. i got paid 2 peso's an hour. That is like .20 cents in american. I worked there to help mom feed the family seeing as i was the oldest out of 8 kids. Luckily the owner of the chicken farm was an american and he taught me how to write and speak english.

Now many americans say why can't we just enter america and become citizens. It cost 6600 peso's. That is nearly an entire year of work for a mill worker.

Well when i was 15 i left mexico city for america, and i jumped the border. I didn't make it far just a few feet before i was wrestled to the ground by a border patrolmen. The second time i jump i swam across the rio to Texas.

I made it all the way to Dallas. I got a job cleaning up a office building. I got paid 5 dollars an hour. That is nearly 55 peso's an hour in Mexico. I shared a 1 bedroom aptment with 5 other men, but that didnt last long. The cop raided the place and sent all of us back to mexico.

The last time i jumped the border i headed for North Carolina. I was 18. I got a job in Mt. Airy. That actor andy griffen is from there. And i got a job working in a mill making 9 dollars an hour. I sent most of my money to my mom in mexico. Well after a while i went back to mexico to start a new life. I used the money to open a bar on the outskrits of Mexico City. And i am doing very well for myself.

And this is why mexicans want to come to america. And i hope any americans out there who wants to close the border please see it from a poor mexicans eyes.

I think that the united states need to understand most of the mexicans who need to immigrate don't have the money. It should be free if you pass the immigration test.
Deception
Yea, but i see where americans are comming from. I mean they do have terroist and durgs to be concern about, but i really wish they would make it easier and cheaper to get into america.
final flight
Thats what the background check is for in the immigration process.

Hi Deception.

I understand a little about what you are saying. Because even though I’m English, living in England, 9 months ago I was living in Mexico City, and had lived there for 4 years!
I lived 10 minutes walk from the massive, most impressive El Zocalo, on the boarder of Dr Doctores, Ciudad de México. Even though this isn’t a great area, and was just up and coming; I still lived in a 200,000 dollar apartment, with security guards and underground parking.
But what I mean is, even though I wasn’t struggling, or poor, I still saw the living conditions everyday. Children having to work because their parents couldn’t afford to send them school. Children and people of all ages begging on the street. Seeing the ill and homeless.
Now don’t get me wrong, México has amazing side, and Mexico City is in no way a third world city. I have travelled to over 42 countries of the world and spent over 7 of my 31 years in other countries, and hand on heart Mexico is the best, friendliest and most amazing country I’ve ever been too, or lived in. But everyday I walked around El Zocalo, seeing the sadness, handing out sweets and Pan to children, buying food for homeless and giving some the clothes off my back. But what I’m saying is I understand what you did and have dome.
And no offence to Americans, but a lot of judging goes on about Mexico, but unless you have been there, seen it all, live it all, there’s no way a person can understand!

Gee, thanks for stealing American jobs from American CITIZENS. Yeah, its sad story but hey millions of people worldwide are in crappy countries.

It's good. And to be honest with you, if I were in your position I would have done the exact same thing.

The problem with illigal immigration, though, is that it increaces the country's GDP without allowing for wage increaces, thus stealing money because of worse inflation. It also decreaces taxes paid to the government, and therefore raises the taxes for each citizen.

So from an economic standpoint it's bad.

From a philosophic standpoint, however, using Mill's utilitarianism, it's good. Because they money is worth much more to those individuals who emigrate from mexico to the united states than it is to the citizens. The citizens already (for the most part) have extremely comfortable lives compared to those in other countries.

I do, however, suggest getting american citizenship asap upon entering the country. One would achieve the same purpose without disrupting those in the country's lives. Respect.

It's amazing though.

If someone is making $9 an hour, working 40 hours a week, that's $360 -200 for living expences (very conservitive - they're saving) They're saving $8,320 a year - that's about 83,200 pesos. Crazy eh?

Ugh. I've tried to look at this from the standpoint of illegal immigrants, I really have. But I can't. I can understand desire to work for decent wages. I can understand that yeah, it must suck living a life like that. But the simple fact of the matter is that these people are robbing American citizens.

I know I'll hear at least one of those "They only do jobs Americans don't want to do" if I don't address it now, so here it is. What makes anyone who would use that argument think, that if the wages were decent, Americans who need money wouldn't do them? The only reason Americans won't do them is because illegal aliens have so severely driven down their wages to below decent. So they get paid off the books, less than minimum wage...they pay no taxes, yet they receive healthcare and public education, they're allowed to drive, many have welfare...and they can't even be bothered to learn the language?

And then there are the ones who just sit in parking lots blasting terrible Spanish rap, joining the Latin Kings, and making life just less liveable for people who were born here.

I know I'll also hear that "Your ancestors were immigrants, why aren't these people allowed to come?" So I'll address that too. My ancestors were immigrants. They came to this country legally. They learned the language almost immediately. Within a generation they had already started to flourish, and thanks to them and their sacrifices, my family can lead a comfortable life. And I don't want to hear that "but people are biased against Latinos(or whatever the hell you want to call them)," because the Irish had it infamously bad, too.

And don't call the government horrible because it enforces the law, blame the source of the all the problems. It's not our fault Mexico sucks.

This is all based on personal experience, I'm not saying anything about the original poster.

I know of someone who was an illegal immigrant in the US, who originally was a citizen of Canada. I think she's an American citizen now. Anyway she only stayed an extended amount of time, which should be what 3 months (maximum for visitation), and because her only son, became an American citizen before her.

OlDrippy34. That is the only problem. Immigrants whether illegal or not, ruin the neighbourhood, by doing the wrong things in life--joining gangs, selling drugs, killing people, etc. But for those who are illegal and do these things, than they're only taking it for granted. They should be working hard. Just as Deception has done. Glad you returned to Mexico happier, (with a new business) and I'm sure bringing gifts for your families.

Immigration is a pain in the arse if you do it buy the book, and expensive, I know, I went through it, and as Ace Ventura said 'the guy with the rubber glove was suprisingly gentle...'
