ok guys i am new here so go easy,
to start off ill tell you a bit about my cockateil;
its handraised and ive had it for 4 years since we found it out side.
its my gardian. it dosent let anyone touch me when im near it.
it sqaukes when annoyed or scared. it also flaps its wings.
the story
last night i was tired so i went to bed early.
i covered my bird in its towel closed the blinds and turned off the lights as usual.
then the weird bit happened.
i was in the hallway when i heard it squaking.
it wasnt the "stay away from my owner squak" but a "get away from me or else itll be the lastthing you do" so i started towards the living room.
when i walked in i flicked on the lights and took the towel off pronto.
it was flapping about like mad and it usually dosent do this especially when im right next to it.
then the creepy thing happened.
my bird floated in mid air for a secound and then hit the opposite side of the cage.
not with force but it was still incredibly freaky.
after that i took her out and calmed her down while i took her into my room.
what the hell happened???
what should i do about it???
ill upload a pic of where the cage is etc... soon

Welcome to the boards. As a bird owener myself I know how sensitive they are to energy and entities. Have you ever experienced anything else in your home? or was this the first time?
Sometimes it's hard to recognize things with birds cause they freak pretty easily, I know mine does.

yes i have as a matter of fact.
i once was haunted by a ghost but i soon banished it when i found god.
this isnt the fist time my bird has freaked.
my friend nathaneil suddenly dropped down to the ground out cold.
moments before that my bird was having a sqauking fit i was trying to calm it down at the time.
i turned around and he was lying there.

Birds are very sensitive to their environment, They see better, hear better, and because they use the Earths Magnetic Field for Navigation, feel minute electrical fields. You probably have the best Ghost Detecter God ever made.
When I was younger I had a small child ghost living( staying rather) in one bed room of our home. Our little Toy Poodle would not go in there and Barked allot when the spirit was on the move. Don't yell at them, watch them, and use their senses as your own. And Don't be afraid. Ghosts seldom hurt. They just want attention once in a while.

Hi theorist,
Welcome to the board.

I've got 2 cockatiels at home.
I've never had that problem with them, but when I use to own a budgie he did it once. It ended up being a small bug had got into his cage and scared him.
Birds are like all animals they're sensitive to the things around them.
Sometimes I'll watch my female cockatiel and she'll c*** her head and stare and nothing for ages.

I don't quite understand...
You say your bird 'floated' up in the air and hit the cage. Well, it is a bird. It can, you know, fly. So do you mean it flew into the cage in a fit?
Birds are very skittish creatrues. I don't exactly think that it's abnormal for a bird to suddenly become scared, especially after you left it alone for the night.
Please clarify your story.

Seems like by all of what I've read, birds are most sensitive to any of the paranormal. Hah, does that mean parrots can only talk because at the time they're possessed?

Indeed. Birds are very "in tune" to the spirit world. my raven- Jacob- has had a few unexplained panic attacks, even giving his raspy "hello" that he'll only say (that i know of) when someone enters his room, but never an interaction such as this cockatiel. interesting.

birds with clipped wings can still flutter. i am not doubting somthing caused him/her to panic, you just gotta figure in all the details. a good paranormal investigator does.

@ corvin: Thanks for the kind words. I'm just trying to explain this without 'losing my head', so to speak.
I do agree that the senses of many common household animals are much greater than the average persons, which gives them the ability to sense things that escape people. Also, they are not affected by the ramblings of pyschics and mediums, or subject to the 'group fright' situation.
On the other hand, I have seen ordinary animals behave strangely for no reason at all. One of my aunt's cats stalks its own tail, not out of play but out of some sort of strange dissociative/ compulsive behaviour. It's cute and scary at the same time. So it's not really possible to judge when an animal is reacting to an unexplained phenomenon, or when it's simpy being an animal.
