As I just learned...

QUOTE
The fingerprints of koala bears are virtually indistinguishable from those of humans, so much so that they could be confused at a crime scene.

Here's where I found it:

So the next time you need to get away with a crime of any sorts, just bring along a koala bear. That'll throw the police off. blink.gif

.....They aren't bears..... lol

Whilst the rest of that is perfectly true, the Koala is not a bear. It is a marsupial.... and is often wrongly reffered to as a Koala Bear.....

Just a bit of info for those who often make that mistake....

Excellent! My criminal I.Q has just soared an additional 25%.

You mean "Americans" who often make that mistake thumbsup.gif Ever hear an Aussie call a Koala a "bear"? tongue.gif

That really bugs me.

Anyway, next time I'm charged with murder I can just blame the nearest Koala.

I know many people overseas, not just american, and they also too call it Koala bear.

I as well as other kids when I was at pre-school called them "Koala Bear"...

So in answer to your question....
Mad Manfred
Hmph, good point...except for the pre-school part...even before I could speak I knew they weren't bears because my parents told me otherwise.

Though, back then, I thought they weren't bears simply because of their size.

I've noticed the Swiss, Scandanavians and Japanese have a habit of believing every stereotype that crawls out of this country.

Thank you Paul Hogan, Yahoo Serious and Steve Irwin for reinforcing that belief rolleyes.gif

It's kinda like when people who don't live on the praries call gophers "prarie dogs". Calling them dogs makes us fell bad for killing them painfully and tortuing them for a healthy crop, safety of livestock, and most of all, for pure fun!

Yahoo Serious promotes a stereotype? Is it that we make crap movies? lol

Anyhow, back on topic.... Koala's are crafty... They wont go on the witness stand to prove your not guilty even when they were at the crimescene..... sad.gif

Thats the one thumbsup.gif Haven't seen it since the year it was released.

Any other Aussies here like convincing gullible tourists that Koala's aka Drop Bears are probably the most poisonous reptile in Australia?
Jesus_Freak
I just remember my kindergarten, or 1st grade teacher calling it a koala bear, and i corrected her... i always correct my teachers... maybe that's why they all hate me.
What_the_deal?
mellow.gif I know they're not really bears...we'll just call them koalas from here on out, then. Yet another minor faux pas on my part...
riotboy555
one of the many reasons why i'd want a koala as a pet devil.gif
