Just had a thought are their goverment agencies (u.s and u.k ) monitoring what we say and do on this site also do you think they monitor other u.f.o and paranormal sites. Myself i would not put it passed them so yes i think they do!. What do you think ?
Shivel

I think its definitely possible that they are reading what we say.
After all this place is great to find out peoples views on politics and extraterrestrials.
We should make this place more exclusive.

For what purpose?
As 'undercover' operatives specifically charged to spread dis-information? Ridicule and debunk those who allegedly 'know' the truth?
What keeps us from believing you're not involved? You may have deliberately started this thread to instill doubt and inspire paranoia. Are you a secret government agent?

Oh this is the site "with over 5 million hits per month, Unexplained Mysteries hosts one of the largest and fastest growing paranormal communities on the Internet, with more than 15,000 members" so yes they do.
The pentagon pays groups to search the net for potential dangers to national security it is likely they could look in here sometimes.
But seriously the govt should have better things to do.

I had this point raised via a teacher the other day. She was discussing how I should hide my views because under the patriot act I could be arrested. So? Everything Hitler did was completely legal in his own country. Laws dont define right and wrong, There merely things as abstract as the ideas of democracy. So does the government moniter this site?
I dont care.

There are countless forums and message boards on the internet that are far more controversial or considered 'security risks' to government agencies than this board, dispite its popularity. They have their hands full tracking down pedo sites, illegal drug sites, not to mention suspect terrorist sites/cells, etc. Don't flatter yourself, they could really give a monkey's behind about what transpires here.

dmgspycat: I find this post interesting because your teacher is right and that is a horrible thing...we are right back in the 1950's with the Mcarthy style witch hunts...only instead of "commies" we are looking for liberals..err..uh...I mean TERRORISTS! Like nixon...these people are using laws to get rid of thier political opponents. Read some old COINTELPRO documents and see how Intelligence agencies infiltrated student groups to spy and blacklist. My hunch...especially in this Total Information Awareness society...is that there is an electronic jacket on all of us...what we do...what we say...what we type...our political affiliations so that one day when the proverbial sh!t hits the fan we can all be rounded up . Echelon was made to protect but it was misused and aimed at us...it is the perfect weapon of the military -industrial complex.

well i hope they are coming here and reading the articles they might wake-up and realize what theyre involved with-unfortunately it is probably only a computer focusing on key words and isp addresses-technically the patriot act is unconstitutional and surrendering to it is completelty voluntary yet it will probably be tolerated until they try to abuse it and someone takes them to court on it

Not speaking for Vulture by any means, but I thought I might add a few comments with regards to what he said.
Years ago, before home computers, I had read of a NSA(National Security Agency) project which did something like this:
1) They electronically monitored most phone conversations for "key" words and phrases which would go through a massive supercomputer for interpretation.
2) Those words and phrases are, for the most part, secret, but words such as "nuclear" or "atomic bomb" are generally considered by those outside of NSA to be a part of the list.
3) When the supercomputers triggered a "hit", the entire phone conversation would be ported over to NSA people which specialized in this, for further review.
Anyway, that's all I know. That was a long time ago, so I don't remember the source, but I seem to remember that it was authentic.
