I hear that the Myrtle Inn Plantation in New Orleans is ripe with spirits, and one of the more active places to seek out ghosts.

Actually I have been there...The
Myrtle Plantation is in St. Francisville, Louisiana . It's ok, strange stuff happens, but nothing too scary. They claim it to be the most haunted house in America, but once you go to the place, you can tell their bluffing because they have a freakin gift shop in the front. It's a scam. It does have a violent history and all the slaves killed there. My ex-girl friend owns 5000 acres of land that neighbors the Myrtle Plantation and backs up to the property dividing it by a barbed wired fence called "Camp Solitude", formerly known as the Barrell Plantation. I have found two unmapped lost cemeteries there. They also have 7 man made lakes on the property, more like ponds. The ducks pond, bass pond, catfish pond...they have their own bulldozer...sheesh..snobby rich people...that's why we're not together.
Here's their official link and history:

Also, you might want to take a trip down to Gettysburg, PA. With the largest battle fought on American soil, some 175,000 combatants, and over 51,000 casualties during the three day engagement, it is purported to be infested with spirits.

Here's something no one really knows about :
THE GALVESTON STORM OF 1900—
THE DEADLIEST DISASTER IN AMERICAN HISTORY:
occurred in Galveston, Texas in the Gulf Coast, about 40 minutes from where I live in Houston. Nearly the whole population was wipe away. Over 8,000 people perished , due to the waves and the hurricane. This is before they build the SeaWall which now breaks the waves when it hits the shoreline.
The cemeteries are creepy there!
