I was really scared of flushing the toilet at night because once I did it some dark creatures walked down the stairs to me, I can't remember what they did but they did walk to me. Don't know if this was a dream or a 'shadow man' experience (look @ the other topic) but I don't think dreams are this easy to remember. The creatures walked off and I couldn't sleep for a week. When I started screaming, the creatures came again.
I remember one thing: I could always get myself out of dreams by simply opening my eyes, it worked for me really often. But once I tried that when the creatures came, I thought it worked again but then THE CREATURES WALKED DOWN THE STAIRS AGAIN. You can't imagine how afraid I was.
Damn why did I have to find this forum? Now I'll sh** my pants and won't sleep for nights again.

When I was a child I was scared of the neighborhood most, I guess..When they're shooting each other down the street and freebasing in the hall; the bogeyman and the thing under the bed are just no big deal..

Time to get over your fear, Ancient Myste... This is a praying mantis Marionette!

I was afraid of.. believe it or not, Muppet Monsters. Not Elmo, Cookie Monster, or Grover from Seasame Street, the Muppet show monsters. Some of them where huge, and it didn't help that they ate one another. And then, some of the smaller ones usually pop up out of no where.
I was also afriad of Yeti, not Bigfoot, Yeti, cause a girl was scalpted by it. I always thought if I ever met a Yeti, Godzilla or Bigfoot would save me.
The third thing is, another muppet, his name was Crazy Harry. I have a file of him I will post later. He had a wicked grin, buldging eyes, large nose, beard, black hair, and was obsesed with TNT and other things that go boom. When ever some other Muppet or Person said anything that might have to do with explosions, he'd pop up, I still fear he will pop up and make me blow up.

Well,to be truthful I used to be afraid of my Grandma. When I first saw her I was afraid because I had no fond memories of her when I was really young. Now i do and I love her. Also when I was young I had a dream that my parents and uncle had died.I felt scared of being alone and having a person being close to you suddenly gone is a really great loss.So I guess my fear was being alone and losing something or someone close.

I'm a chicken. There's a lot I'm afraid of, like...
-The dark. When I enter a dark room to get somthing I run like hell, grab the object, and run back out.
-ET the Extra Terrestrial. He's always creeped me out.
-Big sharks
-Spiders
-I'm afraid that when I sleep some murderer will kill me or aliens will abduct me, but I feel that covering myself with bedsheets will protect me somehow.
-Under my bed. I saw a little part of Pet Semetary where the possessed kid cuts the old guy's ankles with a butter knife, so I'm terrified of that happening to me.
-Cockroaches. Just... eurgh...
-Having the closet even slightly open
-That band Slipknot. Those masks terrify me out of my wits. Also, their "music" just sounds like a bunch of yelling and screaming to me. Actually, most heavy metal bands scare me.
-And there are some movies that scare the heck out of me, like The Exorcist, almost anything from Stephen King, Se7en, and Poltergiest. The only one I have a remote desire to see is Se7en. I want to scare myself.
Hey, I'm only 12, kay?

Being in a really dark places by myself scared me, mirrors scared me, and porceilen dolls and clowns scared me too.
Windows left open during the night when it was so dark that all you could see out of them was black were scary too. I could always imagine something terrible staring at me from just past the light.

I have a long list of things, most of them already mentioned on this thread.
One of the scariest things for me was leaving the curtains pulled back from *any* window at night. I kept imagining something watching me or popping up and disappearing just as I looked toward the window. As a habit I always pulled the curtains shut and made sure the house was locked down before my parents went to bed.

when I was a kid I couldn't sleep with the closet door open and needed some kind of light somewhere... spiders were my biggest fear.
The closet thing was because I believed the mosters from the muppets lived in there and were going to "get" me.
Whatever "get" me means. I have no clue what I thought they'd do with me... put me on their show I guess... and that doesn't seem so scary now...

when i was little i used to have these reacurring dreams about a huge elephant
running down my hallway and ramming into the door while i tried to hold it back.
i used to hyperventilate and everything!
i also had another reacurring dream in black and white about me
sitting at a spinning wheel and another one of me shouting nooooooo in slow motion and the funny thing was it was all in black and white!!
they where both really frightening.
also i am scared of the dark i always have been and i think i always will! i am scared of death as well even though i have nearly overcome that barrier.
i am also scared of almost all animals i see!! although i have a rabbit, 2 hamsters, a dog and a cat although i have had them for years!!
and the wizard of oz monkeys scared the bejesus out of me!!
i still believe there is a species of monkeys out there not yet discovered that can fly!!

I was most afraid of my mom dying when I was little. She is a much older mom. She is 40 yrs older than me. So, when I was little, I was afraid she would die and leave me alone. I had no grandparents or my dad. She was it. She is still alive and kicking. Like most fears, it was completely unfounded. My other big fear as a child, was the "dead" people I saw often. I have been able to see spirits most of my life. But when I was a child, it scared the crap out of me. Mainly because no one else but me could see them. So, if they decided to hurt me, no one could see what was happening. I learned over time what it was and was no longer scared. Other than that, no fears. Except afraid of what kind of crazy crap I'm gonna get myself involved in next. Bizarre and crazy seem to follow me

*I always hated getting laundry outta the basement when I was little, I would run up and down the steps as fast as I could to get it done and over with. (now I live in that basement, not too bad now that it is finished)
*Clowns (still hate them thanks to IT)
*I really was scared to poo at other peoples houses. (I still run water if I gotta go but not as scared)

I used to gave a reoccuring dream about zombies and ghosts coming to get me.
They would be walking really slowly from the back of the garden and right through the back wall of the house and up the stairs to where I was standing.
I could see them coming and I knew if I could turn the landing light on they would disapear as they were affraid of the light - but I was stuck and couldn't move and they would slowly climb up the stairs getting nearer and nearer - if they touched me I would be come one of them

Just as the first zombie reached out the grab me I woke up - everytime I woke up at this point - I have never been so scared.
So basically I am afraid of the dark

Creepy...I haven't had too many dreams about zombies, but one of them was extremely freaky.
My whole family is in one house while the zombies are attacking. They run up the stairs and while I'm running up the stairs, it collapses and I can't get away from the zombies.

i was amazingly scared of chucky. From the age of about 4-7 i would have a nightmare where he would kill me, and i dont if this is because i had a sick mind but every night it would be a new way of killing me. I hated it because i could feel the pain and i would remember it, and everytime i tried to scream for my parents he would steal my voice or i just couldnt scream.....ughhh i hate chucky.

- The mime on Sesame Street (I think because he never spoke)
- This life size doll with creepy eyes that I had when I was little
- Dying, particularly having my heart stop. I'd have dreams where my heart was gone and I knew I'd die, and I'd wake up and have a panic attack over it
Oh, and this also reminds me of one time when my family was riding home in the car from someplace late at night. I glanced to the side and swore I saw a little red devil (you know, like on tv show where they have the devil on one side and an angel on the other?). I was soo scared.

When I was a child the thing that scared me most was a t.v. show that gave me nightmares for the longest time! It was a cheesy local show that ran scary B movies and then made comments about it, a la Elvira. Every time I saw the commercials I flipped out! The thing that gave me nightmares was a laughing floating skull at the beginning of each show!

I can laugh about it now but it was some SCARY stuff to an 8 yr. old!
