I used to be scared to death of the woods at night...I lived by them. I don't know why but I watched a lot of T.V. with my brother and most of it was about someone being alone, in the woods, at night and then another person jumping out from behind a tree and killing them....maybe thats why.

Im kinda freaked out by Micheal Jackson too..... crying.gif

the dark, and being alone at night in my house.----in the dark
Mr Slayer
Everything I don´t understand scares me; ghosts, aliens, demons, EVP, Americans, Kellog´s Frosties etc.

And seriously, I´m terrified of heights.

To be more paranormal with you, I´m afraid of walking alone at night in this old hotel in old town, Stockholm, where I work. The cleaners complain that something sits on the beds after they´ve made them up, the doors to the service elevator further down in the hotelbuilding starts slamming for no reason in the nights etc...

I´m not sensitive to spirits or ghosts, and I´ve never seen anything, but I´m really afraid that one day I will really see something, and that I won´t have any spare pants with me.

2 more things...Silence and the Dark,my room is next to the bathroom and I have to have the light on...ALWAYS!
Werewolf of Doom
Dolls, the dark, worms, maggots, heavy metal bands, goths, cockroaches (I wish they'd be extinct really badly.), a killer being in the house, clowns, ET...ect.

Hey, I'm still a kid.

"oh my God! The've fired the missiles."

Hehehe! That's too funny, elfstone.

Anyway, I've always been scared of the dark (what's in it, that is). I still have to turn on the bedside lamp to get up at night. Also scared of open closet doors (I can thank Stephen King's short story about the boogeyman for that), something grabbing me from under the bed, and creepy little ghost kids (I've only seen them in the movies, but still...).
Pyro24
When i was young my 2 brothers, my dad and I would watch a bunch of scary movies. And "IT" (the one about that killer clown) was a scary one. to this day i think he's gonna grab onto my leg if i let it slide off the bed or something crazy thing like that. And i stay away from those sewers on the side of the street. Well of course its not as bed as it was then but still creepy tongue.gif
babayagafamiliar
Well, as a kid I was really afraid of my grandmothers house, there was a tape my grandfather made shortly before dying (dead for more than a decade while I watched it), on life after death, and it scared me quite a bit (you would too- the guy narrating everything did it from a cemetery, and the film ended with a woman who had a car acident weaving a creepy tale on how she went through a tunnel saw some wierd sh*t and was tortured in hell). To top it all off, I used to watch it next to a gruesome St.George statuete on top of a leatherbound Gustave Dore illustrated Divine comedy (and at night with several black and white pictures of my greatgrandparents staring across the room). That's what I would call the more "sublime" terrors I remember as a child (as Kant would call it). The more mundane stuff was me scared about a movie with a giant man-eating space brain who controlled people forcing them to kill an evil scientists enemies hehehe (yes- it sounds dorky, but kids are scared by dorky stuff like "Phantasm", "The Exorcist", and Dario Argento movies). laugh.gif laugh.gif

I was always afraid of sleep and dreams and stuff. I'd have dreams about ... Bad things.
openmind1963
jaws scared the sh** out of me!i'm not scared of any people, but i still get rattled when i sense i'm being watched!

I was scared to death of this HUGE (about 5 by 7 foot) painting of two owls that my parents had. Its really really 1970s - all orange and brown and would compliment a shag rug nicely. But the owls had really really evil eyes. And they towered over me.

I have since claimed the painting as my own once my parents are gone.
Skriker
I used to be afraid of a dummy my dad used to keep in the closet. The thing was ALWAYS WATCHING...it got thrown away some time ago, but I still can't stand dummies...heh.

Oh, and for everyone who's afraid of the dark, you have to realize that you can't have light without darkness. Darkness is my friend. grin2.gif

My grandma's doll collection scared the crap out of me when I was a child. She had one spare bedroom where I slept while visiting. The room had about 100 dolls; old ones. My grandma made me sleep with this little lamp on, I'm not sure why. The shadows across the faces of the dolls seemed to move and morph into scary faces. They creeped me out so bad. I still hate going in that room. *shivers*
Skriker
Yeah, dolls are freaky too. Anything that has been changed into an all-too-good likeness of a human is creepy. In my opinion, anyway.
The Raven
What scared me the most?

Sometimes [Actually once every week or two, sometimes it went on for a few nights in a row] I would have extremely vivid "dreams" about an invisible force picking me up and bringing me aroumd my old house. I was the only one there and the hallway light was always on. Sometimes it would take me down the stairs or push me against a bed. The whole while I thought it was actually happening and I couldnt move. [From when I was 4 to 11]

I've only had the dream once since I moved, and it was in my new house [It brought me to the bed], but I don't want to ever have them again, especially that often. It had to be the scariest thing I've ever experienced, feeling an invisible force stun you and carry you around. Anyone else experience this?
babayagafamiliar
Almost forgot- my sister used to have a doll that was sort of like Chucky (female though) and she was so afraid of it that eventually I got afraid of the stupid thing too. So I was passing by her room and I saw some red stuff on the doll's lips and I said "Cricket has blood on her mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and we stormed down the stairs. The "blood"? Just a little red lace from the doll's shirt hehehe wacko.gif
Dreamer
* a girl doll I had that looked like chucky. Me and a friend put put it in a bag in the trash, then left for school. My mom found it and put it back on my bed. Well when I got home and saw the doll, I seriously thought it had come back to get me.

* The basement. We had this old water heater that made awful noises, and it was right under the stairs. My uncle told me it was a monster that would grab my feet and make me fall to my death so that it could eat me.

* Monsters in the toilet, Deep water (still cant swim to this day), and spiders.

Side note... I was never afraid of the dark or being alone. I used to escape in the middle of the night to take strolls in the forest behind our house when I was about 7. My parents would always flip, and went to great ends to keep me inside the house. But I always managed to escape for awhile when they slept.

I would definately go with the deep water swimming...being a child of the JAWS movie's, I guess they freaked me out so bad as a child, that I can't swim in the ocean. I used to live in Pinellas Park, across the bridge from Tampa, about 6 miles from the beach. I could handle swimming in the gulf, even though I know that most shark attacks occur within 4 ft depth...explain the logic in that.

Spiders with color on them...I can handle the wood spiders and tarantula's...but Black Widows <actually just shuttered>...
During my training in the military, we had full chemical warfare garb on, I was in a foxhole, and surprise...so was nest of Black Widows that ended up crawling up my hand and arm...seemed like 100 of them...scared the sh!t out of me... I haven't been able to even look at them on TV without shuddering...

As a child, I used to run around graveyards and walk on the graves during after and before church. I was a kid and of course I didnt know better tongue.gif . I guess I was a stubborn lil brat and I will continue to run freely on the graves. My mother and my aunt would chase me all over. Then one morning, my aunt caught me and she told me a story,"There was a lil girl that died and buried here many yrs ago and she used to be so bad and evil. Her daddy would tell her to pick out a willow twig and he would spank her with it. At the lil girls funeral, there was boy just like you and he walked on the lil girls grave and her hand popped out of the ground and it wouldnt go back till someone in the family told the father to find a willow twig and hit the hand. The father found one and he hit the lil girls hand and it went back down." Of course the story worked and I never walked on graves since. I sometimes mention this story to my aunt and she just laughs.......

Two Main Objectives: Demons and Bed Moving.

1. Demons: devil.gif
Hmm, let's see. Well that was pretty a long time ago. I am not afraid of it anymore, though I was just only 8 or 9 years old at that time. I was in my bedroom alone on my bed and just one of these night I was dreaming of myself on the bed. I saw the devil's red strong hands reaching out to each edge of my bed. Its claws were black, it grabs the sheet and clutches it as if it knew I would try to run away. I could not move since the blanket's too rigid. I saw the other hand reached up and grabs the sheet of the bed, other grabs, and then the other. Finally I saw at the end of the edge of my bed from where I was half-sitting up two black horns rising up front of me. It was going up slowly by the edge the bed. It was hiding though. It was elevating itself to the forehead. I woke up. It doesn't do that anymore. It's all about black suit with a long wet, black hair now.

2. Bed Moving: ph34r.gif
Other was the bed moving. Sometimes demons would smack or hit, or bump my bed. It doesn't come back anymore after I was 12 years old. One time it did when I was 18. I said, 'Oh did you miss me?' It never bothered to come back ever since.

Sorry no picture, folks.

It happens to me once when i was around 6. When i was sleeping during the night suddenly the bed started moving and shaking tremendously. Its like something at the bottom of the bed punching the bed with such power.

other experince is during that age i always heard deep voices which echo calling my name. kinda freeky sad.gif

Hmmm...when I was young, like about three years old, I dreamed that I woke up, alone in my house, and I was really scared. I'm not sure if the house was on fire or not, but I remember being terrified and seeing fissures in the walls and these huge snakes wriggling out of the fissures, and I ran downstairs screaming for my mom and dad. They didn't answer, and the dream ended when a woman was at the front door and said to me, "I'm sorry, but your parents are gone."
I know what caused that dream (my parents were going through a divorce), so most of my fears were more reality-based, but I still have a few more that were "supernatural" and just plain creepy.

I dreamed the bat from that old Nickelodeon show, Eureka's castle, split into four, started laughing, and then turned into Gremlins, which then tried to kill me. I dreamed that monsters appeared, floating right in front of the wall next to my bed one night. If i had to choose something I was consistantly afraid of, that would have to be the dark and sleeping with my closet or door open (I still can't sleep with any sort of door open in my room)
about:blank
I saw the movie "IT" when I was about 8 years old. Pennywise use to scare the heck out of me. I would see any clown, and have like flashbacks of the movie.

Occasionally the dark basement or creepy graveyard, but mostly Pennywise.
Xoisk el Soñador
pennywise is creepy...
Malicious
when i was young and would wake up from a nightmare, i'd always cover my whole body in my blanket cuz i'd see shadows all over my wall( it was coming from outside tho) i used to think that something would materialize and touch any part of my body like my feet if they weren't cover by my blanket.

i'm 19 now and still get creeped out if my blanket doesn't cover all of me @_@

Oh yeah, as a kid I was afraid of deep water swimming too. When you couldn't feel the bottom, scary. Especially because I had a painting of a Kraken bringing a ship down under the water in my room (beautiful painting but impresses children).

4 me it's the dark.. Yes still to this day since i was little.. I always thought if i walked in darkness when i would be part way to the light something would have had grabbed my back when i wasn't looking like a ghost or someone really scary that i still have a problem with it.. Or if you walk into a dark room you turn on the light and something pops in front of you.. Anyways or i used to be scared of my nanny...lol because when i was little i had a scary dream that she was floating on her bed with her in the vampire stat in like a coffin but not.. and then her head all of a sudden snaps quickly up and looks at me with red evil eyes and screams this high pitch sound and has green ooze out of her mouth.. Yuck! Weird eh? crying.gif
_hAiLO_
I used to hide under my blanket because my closet was always open. One of the sliding doors of my closet were broken so we had to remove it. So back then, it would always be open in the night and I would hide under my blanket just like the cartoons laugh.gif .

For me its dark rooms. Its kinda hard to explain, and i have no idea wat started it aswell. Ive always hated looking into dark rooms Like im all for night, i loove the night, my mum and i go for walks at like 2am, im more of a night person really. But in my room if oyu leave the door open you can see right into my mums room, the windo you can see if you open the curtains. And she has clear curtains so s'all good. When she was re-doing her room, she flipped over the mattress so it coverd the window, therefore the room was pitch black at night, i hated walking past it, looking into it, all because i couldnt see the other side. Ive had this like all my life, mi mum told me. When i was little, if i coudlnt see the other side of the room, like the wall, or if there wasnt a light to show me that the room ended, id freak! Also ther was the Mummy that lived under my bed who would take the stuffies that fell off my bed at night. tongue.gif Later on i realized it was my cat blush.gif
Thats my story

lol now that is a strange thing to be scared of tongue.gif

I know it may seem super stupid but when I was about 5 or 6 I would be scared of classical music. I hated the sound of the violins and some music from films would scare me.

The strange thing is that horror movies hardly ever scare me. The one thing I'm scared of now is that evil face the girl has in the exorcist, I just close my eyes after watching the film and see her face, strange I know.

There was also graveyards I was scared of and thought there was a monster under my bed and I would never get out of bed in case he grabbed my foot and dragged me under wacko.gif

You're the same as me in that last bit. I'm always scared of something bad happening to my family, maybe it's cos we care so much.
Ha Ha
[FONT=Arial] OMG!!!!!!!!!! I actually had a bedroom for about five years that had cartoonish bridal party members on it....until the lights went out and they looked like tomb stones.. But the really scary thing was the baby from "it's alive", who I swore lived under my bed so I would sleep with the light on all night. One night my Mom's boyfriend UNPLUGGED the lamp. so when I woke up and it was not only off.....it wouldn't turn on.........sheer terror!

Hey everyone,

I thought it might be fun to share what you were afraid of when you were a kid, whether it was something you continuously dreamed about, or imagined to be true.

For me, I had a recurring dream about a witch with a warty green face (like the one from Wizard of Oz), who would chase me from my bedroom at the time to my brothers' room, but I could never get away from her fast enough.

The dreams were always in slow motion, but each later dream I had of this I would get closer to their room. Finally, after having this dream countless times, I made it to their room and made it up the ladder to the top bunk bed. After I got away from her, I never had that dream again. It always scared me because I could never get far enough away from her, and she'd tickle me..lol (which I hated cause my brothers pinned me down to tickle me a lot)

Do share! original.gif

The jack-in-the-box. Got one for Christmas one year....freaked me out so bad, I wouldn't unwrap my own gifts for a few years after. Evil, sneaky, awful things.... ph34r.gif
I hate them to this day and threatened people with certain death if they even considered buying one for my kids when they were little.
Perfect Imperfection
Jack Frost, the thought of getting appendicitus after my uncle told me a horror story about it!!!
I also had a recurring dream about werewolves and to this day I am still terrified at the thought of one.

I had a recurring dream throughtout childhood about a witch who wanted me to paint her house. I would do it the color she wanted and then she would come back and tell me I got it wrong, she wanted it another color. This happened over and over until I ran away. Chase scene ensued.

I also had a series of dreams in which my Father chased me with various powered garden tools (roto-tiller, hedge trimmer, chainsaw) trying to kill me.
a_blue_fish
Hmmn, nothing much scares me. I watched The Exorcist in the middle of the night alone and wasn't bothered! My brother, though, kept having dreams about the toilet trying to eat him. Scared the hell out of him since he was all of eight at the time, but it's quite funny now.

Edited because I hate typos.

That's horrible about your dad!! I had a lot of those too (and my dad is a very sweet man) but I always dreamt that he was wearing this blood red bathrobe (which he really had) and also had red eyes. It was like he was the evil version of my dad, and he used to just stare at me, him and my mom both.

Yea, clowns do it for me too, although I think that's pretty common. Sometimes I think I see things in the dark, but most of the time I'm just paranoid that there's something lurking around after reading some of the alien/ghost posts on this forum!! Probably not the best thing to read about before I got to bed! no.gif
