What scared you the most as a child? Was it the monster under your bed?....The closet door being open?...The creepy house down the street?....

Personally...When I was lil...I would run and jump in my bed b/c I thought there was a monster under my bed that would grab my ankles...sadly...I still do it....there really is something wrong with me happy.gif ...lol

Mine was my carpet in my bedroom after I watched Jaws, it was green like the sea and it freaked me out, that and The Incredible H ulk lol:w00t:
Disinterested
haha good idea for a topic!

When I was a kid, the street lights outside would seep into my room in one spot on the ceiling over my bed. It looked a little like the shape of a distorted face, and it creeped me out because it looked like the mouth was moving. I was scared of it all the time.

And I was always scared this clown doll would come to life when I was sleeping.

And I'm not too sure why, but I've never liked having a closet open when I'm sleeping. I never believed in the boogeyman or anything like that, I guess I was always worried that someone could hide in there.
Cadetak
Well when i was about 7 my cat Patches died. The cat was evil could it would always attack little kids like me. When it died my dad told me the ghost of Patches would come and get me. I didnt believe him until one stormy night me and my dad were on our porch when a gust of wind lifted up the carpet. It made it seem like something was moving underneath the carpet. My dad said "watch out it's Patches". I ran and cried all the way up to my room crying.gif I'm still scared of Patches hmm.gif He's comming back for me I know it.

P.S. On the same topic there was that evil monkey in my closet but patches took care of him cuz he feared the compitition.
Pie
When I was little I was afraid of death. I remember being in preschool, sitting on the playground crying because I was going to die... eventually. I haven't yet.

I was (and am still) afraid of most puppets, marionettes, ventriloquist dummies. I have NO idea why. No trauma that I can remember. Fraggles & those flamingo things from Labyrinth are the worst. *shudders*

My parents bedroom closet never closed all the way. The door would get stuck about an inch or so from being completely shut. I used to lie on their bed & imagine something wrapping it's fingers around the door to push it open. They never had much light in their room either. So that didn't help.
Mike_Angel
This may seem stupid, but I used to live in this house where I imagined a zombie was lurking outside. yes.gif

I think the thing that scared me most was being alone in a large house, not knowing where anything could be or if anybody could be in the house. I was ok with the dark, it was the large space with no one around that really got to me.
What_the_deal?
I used to be really afraid of death. Actually, it probably wasn't that I was afraid, but that I didn't really understand what would happen to me if I died. I didn't like the concept of being somewhere and all of a sudden being nowhere, or something along those lines. I also used to be a little afraid of the dark because of the whole not being able to see what was around you. Whenever I would walk through the house in the dark, it would feel like something was following me. Those are normal for kids, though. I also had this weird fear of the letter "O", especially two of them next to each other. I dunno, I guess they looked like eyes or something? I don't know what brought that about, but it doesn't bother me anymore. Never liked clowns, either. I had a lot of strange fears, but I definitely grew out of all of them.
dancin'hamster
I was scared of the crocodile under my bed........... hmm.gif
Elfstone810
I grew up in the seventies. I was scared of nuclear war, from when I was old enough to understand the concept until I was in college. In fact, once while I was home from college I was playing this game called "ghost in the graveyard" with my younger nieces and nephews. It's kind of like hide and seek, but you play it in the dark. One person hides and then everyone else wanders around trying not to find them. Anyway, I was it. They started counting, so I ran into a dark area to hide, only I misjudged where the peach tree was and ran full into a low-hanging branch and knocked myself out. When I hit the branch I saw this explosion of light and the last thing I remember before waking up on the ground was thinking, "oh my God! The've fired the missiles." blush.gif
brittish_gurl
lol, I was scared of monkeys. Seeing Wizard of Oz at a young age isn't good dontgetit.gif , neither is having a dream about being locked in a room with a bunch of spider monkeys attacking you sad.gif . I still am a little shooken by them **shivering** no.gif
absinthegreen329
I was and still am afraid of the dark. It isn't a little fear either, it is a morbid fear. I can't sleep in it, I can't stand in it, I can't be near it. I also can't have my closet door the least bit open, and I can't sleep with my back to a door. I have no clue where those fears come from, I have never had a bad experience with the dark or anything like that, so it's completely irrational. I also don't like spiders, they creep me out.
colorless
I don't know why, but when I was really little, I thought that a clan of Klingon lived on the side of my bed closest to the wall. I guess it was because my uncle used to watch Star Trek with me a lot. I never knew what they were called, so I'd just tell my mom that the peanut butter man's on the side of my bed.

That and the cover of this book:

DarkSinister
I use to watch unsolved mysteries with my siblings whenever it was on, it would scare the crap outta me and i wouldn't be able to sleep for the whole night. I remember hiding under the blanket and looking around for danger...hahaha so lame i was..
RavenCraft
The question is, what didn't scare me as a kid lol.
1) Clowns after the movie IT
2) Sharks and dark water
3) Spiders
4) The dark and the basement
5) Ghosts and zombies
6) Churches and jesus pictures and statues( they still kind of creep me out)
Mad Manfred
Santa Clause.

I'm serious.

I was petrified and stayed up late at night hoping he wouldn't come to my house.

I was afraid of those freaky porcelain dolls, clowns, snakes, and sleeping with my bedroom door shut. And being abandoned by my parents/given to the gypsies

w00t.gif "Where the Wild Things Live/Are"

The main character was "Max"

When I was a kid, I used to dream of a ghost named Max, who terrorized me through and through. Most of the dreams resided in my own house, which made them more 'real'. One day, I turned my back on Max, and never dreamed of him (it) again.
Azrael
I was always scared of the dark as well...Also, I had unsympathetic parents who thought that it was silly for me to be scared, and they also used scary threats at me when I didn't toe the family line. Even now i remember lying in bed scared stiff of a noise or something that I had seen or heard and afraid to ask for help because I would have been shouted and sworn at. My mom thought i was having her on, but thje most scary things for me were her threats of doom and destruction in the night if i didn't just go to sleep, and that i still have with me, even now when i have kids of my own.
KT
Well i just told my boyfriends this not many people know but i'm scared of turkeys. When i was 5 maybe 6 i was chased by one that was twice my size. I never liked them since. To this day if i see a live turkey i go the other way.
Bex
I don't like Clowns or guest at costume parties who are in full disguise; like gorillas. I had a party and this person started groping me and it wouldn't make a noise so I could tell who it was. I never found out who did that either.
I use to be afraid of going outside in the dark to my car because of my fear of rattlesnakes... but now I have Cats hahaha
sultanmuratova
as a kid i was afraid of the dark, i had too much imagination, always thinking that something would be lurking in the dark waiting to get me.

im still afraid of the dark, especially after i see a scary movie.
ChariotInTheSky
The same thing scares me now that scared me then... the darkness. I know there is nothing there, but there exists that part of me which is prone to foolish superstitions no matter how desperately I seek to shed them. Until I get rid of that, I'll always be afraid of what lies in the places I can't see...
Painkiller
When i was younger i use to be scared of closed spaces, the dark, and spiders, death and chupacabra.
Im not scared of much now, the dark? i was scared of it cuz i didnt kno what was in it.
Now, somewhat i can see in the dark, not super clear, but i can what most people cant, as if my eyes adjest to a night vision when i go in a dark place(woohoo i have natural night vision!) closed spaces still sorta weird. but i liek them, im not scared to die, and chupacabra? the sooner i see it the better! thumbsup.gif
ATDI
I was always scared of being abducted by Aliens. Before bed I used to practice ways I could sleep so it looked like no one was in the bed. I would roll up the blankets and make the bed look messy and empty and then sleep in the bunched up sheets. alien.gif
Tia
I was scared of the dark, or I should say the things that hide in the dark. tongue.gif

Being a Catholic death and the devil were drilled into me as a kid, so that was always scary.

And who remembers this character from H R Pufnstuf? I shuddered just looking at the picture.

Well, when I was little I saw the movie E.T. and for the next 3 years I could only sleep with my back against the room (you get it, my bed stood against the wall), because if I looked the other way, E.T. himself would rise from underneath the bed and take a peak over the side of the bed. Seriously, I was terrified he would touch me with his long fingers no.gif

Btw, my first post here wink2.gif

I dont remember what I was afraid of, but I was terrified of something when my room was dark. I'd always sleep faceing into the wall and sleep on my front, so I couldn't see anything.

Heh, being alone was definitely on the top of my list when I was younger. It didn't matter who was with me. (You don't have to outrun the bear, just whoever you're with.) And I just happened to have a "My Buddy" doll, you know, the one that inspired Chucky? It sat in a chair with about fifty other stuffed animals that I was convinced were going to come to life and kill me in my sleep. I watched Puppet Master much too young.
Ladywilde

sub_x0ne
When I was a kid I saw a movie where someones head got cut off with an axe. For awhile I would sleep with the covers over my head thinking that the covers would protect me from an axe to the head. Kids scare so easily.
