Apparently the city of York in northern England is the most haunted city in the world, with a total of 506 hauntings within its boundaries. This beats rival cites of Los Angeles and Brisbane, according to the Daily Mirror (7/5/03)

I can't believe Los Angeles was even in the running. Must be
all those Hollywood actors still trying to have their 'big scene'.

Personally I'd have thought London or Paris would have been up there, or Athens or something with ancient historical roots...

This from Shadowman :
York is as old as London or Paris. Age has nohing to do with it. It is more likely down to electro magnetic fields.
Energy is energy, the majority of spirit sightings are nothing more than a video replay.

I am aware that York is pretty old and that there has been a town or settlement there for quite some time. My comment about more ancient towns being on the list was in reference to Los Angeles and Brisbane, which clearly are not ancient.
I think age has quite a lot to do with it. The longer there is human activity in one location, the greater then the chance of a 'recording' being 'replayed' in an electromagnetic field environment.
