I've never had any encounters with were-creatures, but I do know a few who clam to be kitsunes and I do beleave them becouse of what they've told me isn't mentioned in any myth or movie or anything. So either they have an imagination that surpasses stephan king or they are the real deal. And I beleave OZ is a werewolf aswell. To add to the list of types there are stories of wolves that can take on human form as well as other animal shapeshifters.

I also have theories on shapeshifting.

- Shapeshifting through magical means; ie potions, items, spells

- Cursed; ie full moon, king lycan

- Physical (probably the most difficult); would require alot of energy (explains ravenouse of werewolves) and would be painful
Dragon818
Hm, that sound interesting. And to werewolf_ballisticS I would like the link to the sight that you mentioned. Thanks

Do any of u guys have any stories about werewolves/vampires? Do any of u guys know where to find a werewolf/vampire/ how to become them?

Ok, now the werewolf "disease" comes to a human from birth and it HAS to run in the family, so it's not contagious and can't spread. Vampires are different because they can't reproduce, it's somthing with the reproduction cells, hard to explain. to become a Vampire, you can't just be bitten (pshh... that would be stupid) you nust exchange blood with the vampire. Soon, and i mean a long time, the vampire blood cells will take over the human cells, making you a full vampire!
P.S.- VAMPIRES ARE NOT EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the modern era the werewolf legend has been twisted by Hollywood fiction. Most werewolf legends dating from before the Inquisition show these shape-shifters in a far different light, these werewolves were not good or evil, nor were they ravenous or blood thirsty. Shape-shifting was a common practice for witches and shaman far back into prehistoric times, and is still practiced in tribal cultures around the world. Practitioners might wear an eagles feather, an antler or a turtle shell to aid them in assuming the identity of the animal. In the case of wolves and other large predators the whole pelt might be utilized to aid in assuming the spirit form of the animal. Sometimes mind altering substances and hallucinogens were utilized to enhance the effects of the spirit shift easing the human minds transfer into the animal state. On lookers, also in the "supernatural" mindset would see the shape-shifter take animal form during such rituals. Far back in our genetic memory we can be almost certain that all of our ancestors practiced this form of spiritual shape-shifting in prechristian times.
These practices were however frowned upon by the growing power of the church, stamped out with all the other ancient pagan practices (ie. witchcraft and idol worship.) Still it is likely that these practices continued in rural regions of Europe even into the present. Much in the way that witchcraft was demonized by the church, so too were the shape-shifting shaman, transformed from helpful medicine men into horrible bloodthirsty monsters. The pelts still played an important role in the description of these beasts, becoming the secret power of the werewolf, possessed of demonic power that these dark sorcerers used to transform themselves into monsters by which they did the devil's bidding. Werewolf trials were as common as witch trials during the middle ages, it was during this century and a half, (1500-1650) that tens of thousands of people were executed on the grounds of lycanthropy. Some of the more famous werewolves of this era are Gilles Garnier, Peter Stubb, Jean Grenier, and perhaps most famous of all the Beast of la Gevaudan. Considering the state of things it's more than likely that shape-shifting shamans packed in their pelts during this dark time, going deep underground or ceasing their art all together.
Over the next 500 years, with only the memory of those savage beast of the Inquisition to base the werewolf image on the legend was changed yet again. No longer did the werewolves need elaborate rituals or magic pelts to transform, only the light of the full moon, no longer were they helpful shaman or even dark sorcerers, they were among us, cursed to undergo a painful transformation into a monstrous beast, dangerous to friends and enemies alike. They had become unstoppable killers subdued only by a silver bullet. Over the years movies have endowed the werewolf with further powers, such as inhuman strength and speed, clairvoyance, and even a spider-man like ability to climb walls, some even come back from the dead.
On a final note, I would just like to say that the term "Lycan," is a fully fictitious term used for werewolves in the Underworld movies, and was never used in reference to werewolves until the release of those movies. Lycan is short of lycanthropy a disease of the mind with symptoms that make the sufferer believe them self to be a wolf.

Great story (just read it) I find it hard to find the true beginnings of the werewolf legend, but yours sounds the best so far. However I heard the moon and silver bullet were all designed by hollywood too... Anyway I'd like to note that it's funny how most people either claim to be a werewolf or know one, yet refuse to give any video evidence, or any evidence at all for that matter, atleast people attempted with the sasquach video. Honestly though, if you could prove the existence of some legendary being, wouldn't you want to for the greater good of humanity?

Did anyone catch the mutant canine episode of monsterquest. All the hype made it out to be about werewolves but the episode itself was more about an unknown species of canine.. I guess its in the name.

I have a story of sorts. Not an actual sighting, but a sound unlike anything I've ever heard (cept for the howling movie). Anyway, I read a lot of purported werewolf sighting stories and such. A lot of them I find myself scratching my head at as they seem too fantasizable to be true. Then again, I take into consideration my own story and wonder if other people will think it as incredulous as the others, even tho I know for a fact, my experience was true. So, here goes.

I grew up in Houston Texas in a neighbourhood that was just being built up. There was an abundance of wooded land around the hood and me and my friend spent much of the time exploring the brush with our BB guns pretending to be army troopers or what have you. I believe I was 12 at the time, now 30. I have been fascinated by werewolves (WW) since I was a wee lad, 5 I believe, was the year I had this incredible reoccuring dream about them. My friend, Ryan, shared my enthusiasm tho not to the extent I did. We were both big fans of the movie "The Howling".

Anyway. Ryan and I were involved in BB gun wars we used to have in the woods with the neighbourhood crew, about 10 - 12 kids in total. We had built up forts way back in the woods for both teams. ( I dont incourage these BB gun games either, one kid nearly lost an eye.) About a year after we had stopped these games/wars, Ryan and I decided to head back into the woods to see if the forts had withstood. It was broad daylight mind you. No middle of the night stroling in the gleam of a full moon or anything. ph34r.gif So we get to one of the forted areas and start looking around talking about this or that. Out of nowhere we hear, what I can only describe as a cross between a growl/yell, begining in a low gutteral tone similar to a large dog or wolf, gradually rising in pitch to a sort of yelling sound.... It's very hard to explain, but it was a noise I have never heard from an animal before or after that experience. The only comparible thing I can relate it to was a sound from the howling movie. It was when the chick was in a cabin in the woods and listening out of the window to this same sort of sound. Now, I am not suggesting that makes what I heard a WW, but it was definetly enough to rattle our bones and get our minds racing as we dashed out of the area and headed back for the neighbourhood at full speed. Nothing pursued us and we didn't see the animal that made the noise.

As foolish as I feel talking about it, my friend Ryan, who now has a Bachelors degree in foreign economics and business, currently pursuing a law degree, have still spoken of it. (i only add his credentials so you do not take us for some hobos still living with mom). We still can't say what the hell it was, only that it was definitely supernaturalistic in sound. Only animal we could say it may have been would be a large boar perhaps. Tho, in that area there has never been any sightings or history of large boar such as Javelinas, or Russian Boars.

So, there ya go. Hope you enjoyed.

I have a real werewolf sighting for you-- if this thread is still alive. Before I begin I'd like to say that while I am from NC I am by no means a redneck who 'done saw me somethin' weird and i think it might be a werewolf', nor do I wish to be lumped into that category. I am fairly well educated-- a vet tech by trade-- and I do not use drugs or drink heavily. I certainly was not drinking last night...

Around 1 am my mother was awakened by something banging on our backdoor, which has occured several times in the past year. Sometimes it knocks on the front door as well and occasionally has hit one door then run to the other. By knocking I do not mean light knocking like a visitor, I mean loud LAPD style knocking that sounds like half the house might cave in from the force. After turning on the back light it usually stops for a while. My neighbors have motion lights that are aimed four feet off the ground to prevent them from going off everytime a cat or dog walks by it, so if it goes by and the light comes on, it has to be at least four feet tall. For further description, I live in a neighborhood by the intersection of several highways but still with woods fringing the area.

Now back to the story-- Last night about one am, my mother was woke up by this knocking. She then woke me up to see if I had heard it because she saw nothing when she looked out the door. I asked her to stay quiet and turn off the lights, determined to find out what the heck this was. I had not been asleep yet-- I was not tired, as I am a late night kind of person hehe.. so sleep deprivation couldn't be blamed here. Several moments later they banging started and this time was accompanied by weird grunts and growls. I called out through the door and ask "Whose there?" several times and got no audible reply. Only Grunts and growls.

Then I heard a crash, our glass storm door was ripped off it's hinges and the wooden door, which was all that was between us and 'it' was assaulted with such force I was sure it would break. The jamb broke and it was literally my mom and I holding the door closed. I have never heard or felt anything so strong in my life, I yelled at my mother to grab her pistol and apparently whatever it was heard me and stopped but not before I saw it's hand. Oh God, it gives me the creeps thinking about it. The final shove it gave got it's hand actually insode the house. It appeared to be a human hand with claws that were dirty as if it had been working in dirt or something. I admit to having slightly panicked and calling out 'Oh sweet jesus.." and calling for the pistol.. my mom was rooted in fear but whatever it was stopped and retreated. Our neighbors motion lights came on a few seconds later as we could see them through the living room window.

Unable to sleep, we sat down for some popcorn and to calm down when the neighbor on the other side suddenly called and asked if I could see anything outside. He's a disabled elderly man, and was afraid to see for himself. I couldn't see it but I could here it behind him clawing and screaming at the door. Later today I spoke with a 3rd resident in the neighborhood whose dog was attacked by 'something'.....

All of us saw the same thing, a bi-pedal creature covered in dark fur and growled.

Now I believe in werewolves, vampires, and other supernatural beings. As a Christian you have to sort of be open minded, it is selfish to think we are alone as a human race in this world. There are many demons and otherkin and such. I am conviced that I have seen a werewolf.

Lately I have had creepy sensations of being watched or followed when i go out at night. I have seen dark shadows and I am frankly getting spooked....

Yeah but the movie skinwalkers had nothing to do with skinwalkers
Stealth Wolf
that movie really dissapointed me, as it did to many others... skinwalkers are apperntley able to transform into any animal they wish, so I was excited for more than just werewolves for once.

-commenting on the ww stories...
those are fairly intresting stories, though they seem as credible as any other story for the most part. I think i've reached the point where ww stories don't really help promote any truth about them, they're just fun and intresting to read.

For the wannabe werewolves.....

Lycanthropy

General Description: Lycanthropy (more accurately known as Therianthropy) is a wide ranging disease which causes periotic dramatic changes in the physical make-up of those affected. In addition, Lycanthropy can also result in permanent alteration of the psychological profile of those afflicted as well. Lycanthropy should be distinguished from other types of shape changing which are brought about through magical means. Lycanthropy is the only form of shape changing which involves an actual disease.

LOL.... Thanks Tia, I was just about ready to post info on that subject myself, Do you study psychology? I'm preparing to take a course in it myself...
CaitSith
QUOTE
http://members.fortunecity.com/quebec/lycan.htm
Disease Transmission: Lycanthropy is usually transmitted through the bite of an infected individual. However, it can also be passed along through exposure to infected blood, sexual contact, and some types of magics. There are even rare cases where the disease becomes pneumonic and can be
contracted merely by close proximity to someone infected. However, in all forms save its pneumonic, Lycanthropy is not very contagious. The chance of infection from a single bite is no greater than 5% and likely less. Some races are also more susceptible to the disease. Humans and elves are the most in danger of infection, Fey races less so, and a dwarf with lycanthropy is almost unheard of.

You realise this information is completely fictional right, I thought the part about elves and dwarves made it pretty clear lol

Its not just acting like the animal, it is becoming the animal in spirit, and its not just a native american thing, pretty much all tribal cultures worldwide practiced some form of shapeshifting, many still do.

Your Right I for about the others. I just know that the Native American believe in it. But are far as the body transforming into an animal not going to happen. Like you said enboding the spirit. acting the the animal and wearing of the hides or skins is about as far as your going to get.

In this lifetime, no. I have memories from my life about 600 years ago when I was a werewolf though. They are mostly fragments, but I get a few more every day, and they are starting to come together to form one solid story. When I get enough to tell even a good part of the story of my past life I will post it.

To CaitSith:
I apologize. I did not mean to refer to everyone who believed in non-physical shapeshifting, like you, idiots. I happen to know from memories of my past life that physical shapeshifting is possible, but that is me. I had actually just skimmed wolfknight's post before I wrote my response, and what pissed me of was the "werewolves don't exist, never did, never will" thing. Again I apologize.

Of course not in this lifetime because this way, you don't have to provide any credible physical evidence.......Since we're talking about past lifetimes, I'm starting to remember being Cleopatra's make-up artist in Egypt....I actually invented the whole 'heavy eye make-up' look.....But alas, she had me beheaded because Caesar kept making eyes at me.....Aahhhhh, those were the days..... grin2.gif

I am not lying. I just really hate having my picture taken. And as far as the other part most people do think I'm crazy, but I don't care. Also I seriously doubt someone is watching a website like this closely to see who claims to be something and then tracks them down to test them. If you don't want to believe me, that's fine; I know what I am, and that is what matters.

I suggest you provide some proof. Otherwise you are just another big talker. Perhaps you should check into other avenues as well.

I hate this dreaded curse. I've had it now for 1,666 years, for which I gained from an elder wolf named echelon!
Every time I shift, this terrible urge comes over me to pee on most everything, (It's a territorial thing.) and this
horrible itch overwhelms my backside, I think I might even have a slight case of the mange.

All in all though, its fun to terrorize people driving down the road in their cars, then ending the night by ripping a
hapless victim to shreds.
