As much as werewolves have been a fascination for me since I arrived on this planet, I really don't think they exist. Its more a romantic vision, kinda like vampires, tragic but beautiful (god, I sound so goth lol

). Anyhoo, if you want to read up on werewolves I would recommend picking up a copy of 'The Book Of Werewolves' as written by the Rev. Sabine Baring Gould. Its an oooold book, but it does get reprinted and is relatively easy to get a copy of. Its quite a hard read, but its very interesting if you stick with it.

Stumbled upon it a while ago, thanks to good ole Google. Haven't had the time to read through it all yet.

I'v seen something of the likes of the description of a wherewolf. It was this HUGE ass sized dog/bear looking thing in my uncles field. It must have been the size of a jeep. It was running around but the thing is, it wasn't moving in a rythmic pattern like dogs do when they run. It seemed to be floating across the dirt like its feet weren't touching the ground.

Wow, I've saw werewolves on two non consecutive occasions near where I live in Scotland. Once, I was inside my house looking out, and the other time I was on the outside of a house (I don't even know who's) looking in the window, and I saw one.
Looked identical on both occasions. The first time must have been around one in the morning or therabouts, maybe half one, and I get up from watching TV, go to close the curtains, and about four feet away from me, I see this humungous werewolf staring back at me! The first thing that grabbed my attention was the eyes, totally red. It stood (almost) upright, was covered in dark coloured hair, and had some totally freaky sharp, white teeth! It has ears which pointed up (like, say, an alsatian, as opposed to a poodle) and a snout. It didn't look particulalry muscular, but was probably about 200+ cm tall. I totally collapsed on the spot, and woke up next to the window at about 4 in the morning. I was so scared, I waited 'til first light before I moved a muscle.
The second time, I was out mountain biking with a friend. We were at the bottom of a hill, and dismounted, because we couldn't be bothered riding uphill. I look over to my left, and through the window of a house, I can see a werewolf side on! This was about 11am, in broad daylight. I didn't actually say a thing to my friend. I turned to him, he looked at me, saw my expression, looked in the window, and then looked back at me. We were both standing there rooted to the spot staring at it, when all of a sudden, it turns its head and looks at us!
We didn't say a word, we just jumped on our bikes and went as fast as we could. We easily knocked a huge chunk off of our previous personal bests for the uphill, and didn't stop until we got back to town.
We had a brief discussion; "Did you see it?" "Yeah, did you?" "What was it?" "Don't know" etc. and then we split up to go to our homes. We never mentioned it to each other ever again.

I once got instruction to turn to animals from someone ....
1.First you must go somewhere where nobody goes anymore like a private place.
2.Second get a blanket and put it where you are upside down you go somewhere no one knows because if they put the blanket the right way or move it you'll stay what ever animal you wish to become.
They said thats how you can become a werewolve. But i doubt they work, but hey if you want you can try them !

May 2004 From Jonathan
I was walking on a set of track one night minding my own business, I hear some weird things in the woods like twigs snapping and leaves. I stop to look around nothing was there when I start walking again I hear the same noises but this time I feel breathing on my neck and hear something like growling. I was afraid to look back but I did anyway there was nothing there but I felt something wet on my neck. I feel it there was drool on the back of my neck. I freaked out so I ran all the way home and held a freaking gun in my hand all night since then I really became a believer in werewolves.
December 2003 From Judy
I live in Estacada Oregon, I'm a paper carrier, one night about a year ago. I had pulled into a tube to put the paper in and this animal came out from the side of the road, about 30ft.ahead of my car. At first I thought it was a dog, but on second look it was't. It had large hind legs and smaller front legs. It had a dog like face but what was really strange was it had no fur, not a spot. It was pink you know like human color, anyway it kind of hopped out to the middle of road and sat down, then it turn around to where it came from and went back. It didn't look my way but I could see its eyes, and they were big and black. I've only seen this animal once but talking to other people there has been sighting of something of this kind in the area.
December 2003 From Monty
On July 21 2001 I was sleeping in my bed room when I heard the strangest howl I've ever heard so I grabbed me gun and went to take a look. I went up the hill I heard the sound from. when I got to the top I seen something strange it look like a wolf. so I put it in the sight of my gun. I slowly started to pull the trigger when it stood up on its hind legs and started to get taller and look different so I started to yell at it but nothing happened. It started walking to closer and closer to me so I took a shot at it. I hit it but it ran off into the bush. This is a true story.
2003 From Asmodeus on the Bray Road Beast
I have yet to see the beast but I have possibly heard it. One night this past February I was asleep and woke up to a loud sound. It sounded like a mountain lion or wolf I am an aspiring wildlife biologist and know what these animals sound like. I have heard wolves in Alaska and mountain lions in the North Carolina and Montana. I have never heard anything remotely like this before nor do I wish to hear it again as it made my blood run ice cold.
1996 In Banbirpur, India, wolves have been reported taking young children away from local villages and eating them. Pathologists confirmed the children were killed by the animals and an investigation was launch to discover the reason behind the attacks. In the terror, some villagers believed the creatures responsible for the killings are werewolves.
1991 In Elkhorn, Wisconsin, locals report sightings of large creature, best described as a werewolf, feeding on road kill and other domestic animals within the county. It has been called the "Bray Road Beast".
1988 Morbach US Air Force ammunition depot in Germany One night a group of air force personnel were returning to their base at Morbach. They noticed the candle at the old shrine was out and as the local legend goes if the flame is out the werewolf will return to the town The group thought it to be a joke. At the base automatic sirens went off as someone or something has activated the fence sensors. A security guard sees a large animal, like a wolf, standing on its hind legs. It stared at the soldier for a moment and then jumped over a 3 meter fence. A police dog was used to track the beast, but when brought to where the werewolf was last seen, the canine refusing to go further. The candle at the shrine was relit, and the creature has been seen no more.
1972 A number of residents of Ohio reported sighting a werewolf-like creature between July and October. The accounts describe encounters with a six to eight-foot tall creature human in shape with claws, hairy and a wolf’s head.
1936 Mark Schackelman reportedly encountering a talking wolfman east of Jefferson, Wisconsin on Highway 18. While driving along the road at night, he seen a figure digging in an old Indian mound. He described the figure as a strange, hair-covered creature standing erect and was more than six feet tall. The face hold features of both an ape and a dog while its hands were oddly formed with a twisted thumb. Schackelman also mentioned that the beast gave off a foul odour.
1764 Gevaudan, a small province in France, is terrorized for three years by an animal described to be a large wolf-like creature. About 100 people were killed and attempts by locals and the army to kill it fail. Many of the French peasants believed the beast to be a loup-garou or werewolf. In 1767 the creature is killed but there those who say the "Beast of Gevaudan" still lived.
1685 In Eischenbach, German, livestock were killed by a wolf within the area. Locals residents believed the spirit of the town's old mayor was reincarnated as a wolf. The animal was eventually killed but and then dressed in a suit and wig, paraded round town before being hung.
1520-1630 In France, over 30 000 individuals were trialed as werewolves to be tortured or sentenced to death.
Here are some very good sightings

For the wannabe werewolves.....
Lycanthropy
General Description: Lycanthropy (more accurately known as Therianthropy) is a wide ranging disease which causes periotic dramatic changes in the physical make-up of those affected. In addition, Lycanthropy can also result in permanent alteration of the psychological profile of those afflicted as well. Lycanthropy should be distinguished from other types of shape changing which are brought about through magical means. Lycanthropy is the only form of shape changing which involves an actual disease.

Even though Dre T hasn't answered I feel I can't keep you all in suspence and a long awaited story will be told now. Lol even though you probably didn't care.
I used to live this old trailor park. I didn't like it much there (this was before I became Druidic). One day my neighbor came to my door and knocked on it. He asked me
"Do you have a dog?" (this was before my little wounded wolf pup came into my life)
I said "no I don't why?"
He asked "Did you see anything last night?"
I truthfully said "Nothing out of the ordinary. no"
He says "Well what do you consider ordinary because last night I saw a HUGE animal walking around the streat."
I told him "I haven't seen that but now I'm interested."
He says "It walked around on the street and I watched the Huge basturd threw my blinds it looked like a dog It attacked my little skeeter."
I said "Who is Skeeter?"
He says "My dog."
I told him to go home and rest for his loss. That night I couldn't sleep I just kept thinking about my neighbors dog and what attacked it. At about 11:00 pm I was dozing off and I heard a loud THUD hit my rooftop. I then heard what sounded like someone walking on my roof. I walked to the window after i heard another Thud come from my porch. I looked outside (through the blinds so it couldn't see me) and saw the same huge Dog-like creature my neighbor described. It looked more to me like a wolf and it wasn't huge persay rather more around 6' 8" to 6' 11" but yes it was very large. It stood on my porch and it looked around until It saw another one of my neighbor's (some old ladie who I disliked) german sheepherd it attacked the poor dor and slaughtered it only leaving some bones and flesh. Then it ran off.
I have to ask, do they have talls? I've only seen them in movie and they dont. that always buged me.

A friend (whom I will call Jim) of mine even told me a story while he was in the hospital (an hour afterwords he died of fright)
He and his brother were out camping and they had a lot of fun until his brother started puking. He asked his brother if he was sick and he sad he thought he had rabies (this coincidently was at the time was when the full moon was high.) So Jim asked him why. And he said A big wolf-like creature sliced him in the arm good after he shot it while it was chewing on his dog. Jim's brother also seemed to have dizziness and felt lightheaded. Jim asked him if he knew what it was. He said "My neighbors said it was a werewolf" then he vomited. Jim then saw his brother look up at the moon and laugh at the thought. Then Jim heard bones Crakling loudly and his brother was getting bigger. His brother started changing and screaming in PAIN about his chest being on fire. The sight of the transformation HORRIFIED Jim until the point where his brothers eyes just got empty and he dropped to the ground. Jim passed out in horror. When he woke up he was in the hospital. And they told him his brother's heart had just stopped. They told him he had a severe heart attack that seemed to have been caused by fear.

So as I try to be realistic (but open for anything new) I have problems believing into a person shapeshift into a wolf. But according to several evidences, clues and not least a large amount of reported sightings telling the same story about the looks and specialties (independently spread all over the planet) it seems probably that there is a werewolf-like wolf. "Were" just because its tall like a human and has the ability to walk on two legs in special situations (maybe while attacking or for threatening, like a bear). It seems to be not so rare, numerical perhaps like the
Eurasian Wildcat/Lynx. And it does not seem to attack humans, it may be scared by animals as tall as itself. So in areas with some more indiependent reported credible sightings it's mostly dear that is found mutilated and half eaten. They do not seem to find internals tasty ... For this reason it looks always horrible when you find killed prey, because the internals lie around the prey most times.
But even when nobody's ever been found killed by such an animal - when I see such a "beast" close to me in the wood or so, I think my heart will stop! I've always been scared by werwolves. I could never sleep after watching a werewolf-movie till I was about 20!

You cannot get it by being bitten! I hate that belief. You all want answers about werewolves? What do you wanna know? I got the answers, after all I just... AM ONE!!! I didn't just choose my forumID as ozwerewolf for the hell of it. I was a werewolf back in medievil France, I died and was reincarnated recently, but I retain all my memories from back then. My name then was Oz, that's why it's a part of my profile ID. First off I want to clear up a few things. There are 3 types of werewolves. Moonwalkers - cursed to take on the form of a wolf during the nights of the full moon. Wolfen - born werewolves, always in the werewolf form. Lycanthropes - Born werewolves in human form, gain ability to take on werewolf form at around age 6, older ones can take on a pure wolf form. Most werewolves still living today are Lycanthropes, however a Moonwalker shows up now and then, and there are a few Wolfen still living in France & Germany. The first few times a werewolf makes the transformation it is pure agony with all the bones growing and muscle mass increasing under the skin, also the hair growth itches like hell, but after doing it enough times it gets tolerable. However one commen misconception is that a werewolf's knee joints reverse, they don't. Also the muzzle only stretches slightly, that is why they are still able to speak human languages. And yes we do have tails, that spine stretching sensation is just creepy. I should also mention that the werewolf gene can skip generations, my great grandfather was one, but my grandpa and dad weren't. If the gene is recessive, as in skipping a couple generations, it can take longer for the individual to gain the ability to transform. For instance, I am 23, I only learned how 2 1/2 years ago. Werewolves used to travel in packs, but since forest areas have diminished so much we have been forced to discontinue that practice. In this lifetime I have located a few of my old pack including Oz's brother and mate. On average werewolves live about 600 - 800 years old assuming we aren't killed. Some of us enjoy the thrill of the hunt so much that they maintain werewolf form and terrorize people and animals frequently, but the majority of us live like normal humans unless we need to use our superhuman skills. Silver is deadly to us, and in a strong enough dose wolfsbane can kill us too. Most of us don't get along too well with vampires, but 2 of my best friends and my girlfriend are vampires. We do get along extremely well with most other were-creatures though. My best friend is a werefox, and my roommate is a werecat. Being a werewolf and being friends with many other supernatural beings is part of what led to me becoming a paranormal investigator. I can't think of anything else right now, but if you have any questions feel free to ask me.

could it be that maybe they do exist and are probably a rare new breed, who live deep in forests or something like that, also i heard that a long time ago ( decades ago ) some people would get drunk and have a party etc. etc. , but there was a disease that some people have, they had hair all over their body, every inch, and its a rare disease still today, so the drunk people would confuse them for werewolfs
not sure for today's sightnings...
P.S. how come theres no skeletons found, or any actualy evidence of any? like a pic, theres a pic of nessie atleast and u.f.o.s , but no werewolfs...

i live in southern ohio about 40 miles from cincinatti, and i live on a country road that might be described as well populated. well anyway, i was just heading back to the house from feeding our pet rabbits in our hutch and i happenned to see a dark figure out of the corner of my eye. i turned my head and i say a bipedal, dog-like animal in the feild across the street from us, it just broke cover from a clump of trees in the middle of the feild and was running for the forest tree line, IT WAS FLYING MAN, i dont mean leaving the ground defying gravity, i just mean running realy, realy fast. i say that it had brown, shaggy hair that was clumping and shedding for summer (it was about march) not traditonaly gray like stereotype W-wolves or whatever the hell they are. i wasnt scared, only curious and also because my mind hadnt yet caught up with what i was seeing. i also saw that it sometimes went down on all fours to make a realy big leap of speed, then it would go bipecal again, when on all fours it seemed to run like a gorrila, knuckles down and propelling itself on its front legs, it also kind of ran to the side, not strait forward, like if it was facing you while running, it would kind of be going to your laft or right.
when it got to the woodline and i lost sight of it, i just stood there thinking "what the bloody hell was that? a coyote on acid?" then my brain proccesed this image of a 6-7 ft tall, hunched over gorrilla running, brown-shaggy fured bipedal canine running at about 60 mph and yelled "GET INSIDE! HAVNT YOU EVER SEEN THE HOWLING!? AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON?! RUN!!!!" so i did, even though it obviously didnt even notice me, my flight/fight instincts were working so i ran inside, double locked the door and told my parents, my mom didnt beleive me but my dad cosidered my experience, hes about as skeptical of strange phenomena as an institutionalized man screaming into a microphone about aliens and how jesus was coming with them.
well, thats my experience
anyway, i think that the wisconson bray road beast and the michigan dogman might be making thier way towards the east coast, who here knows the michigan dogman?

hey buddie, i dont know if your father never hugged you or if your very insecure but you have no real reason for posting your non-contributal crap on this page, you got something bad to say then you might as well say it, get it out of your system, never read this topic again and see what happens.
some of us are beleivers ok and i dont know why your voices tell you that your gay but you need therapy man because we sure as hell didnt call you gay, you must be schisophrenic. from what i can tell, everyone here but you is a very polite, openminded person willing to beleive past the charts and graphs of science.
and if you actualy came to this topic with something to contribute to your objection to our beleifs, giving us something to consider as to if we're wrong, we would have thought it over and made our own desicions. but no, you came here just yelling and screaming and telling us what sh**heads we were without anything to back up your words.
ive always said that the world will end in the screaming of infants and the babbling of morons like you.
i dont particularly beleive in the whole skinchenger and tranformation from man-to-wolf thing, i beleive that werewolves are merely an evolutionary equivalent to our own simian evolution. same thing goes with the lizard man of south carolina (totaly unrelated to the subject im just making a point) they are just a speceis of their own that evolved alongside us, now is that scientific enough for you man? or has your whole wonder of the magic of life been ripped from your soul? are you just so jaded and closeminded?
jeez, dont even reply cuz if i see your avatar on this page agin i will go so crazy that i will have to be kept away from young children and small animals.

YES! I I I do have something to contribute to this thread.
ANYONE who believes in werewolves is clearly suffering from a SPASCTIFICATION OF THE MIND!
Clearly you are using the same delusions you are aiming at me!
This is reality, not dungeons and dragons. I've met your type before at civil war re-enactment clubs. Goat sucking goddess indeed! Indeed sir.

An intresting story my friend told me about... We live in Natick Mass, theres a wooded area with a portion of it containing an old(abandoned?) fenced off factory that is relatively near some appartment buildings. Some of my friends who live at the apartment complex went about half a mile into the wooded area for camping. Their names will be omitted.
Now before I go further I must say that my area has experienced very weird sounds. Although in my opinion they are very unwolflike. They sound like a woman screaming crossed with long dog barks. A very indescribeable and terrible sound. They come from various directions, though usually from the apartment area.
Much of the camping trip went normally for them. However at about dusk they noticed the cry from off in the distance. They set up their tent and lights, ect. and got into their tents.
One had to get up in the midst of the night to use the portable toilet(Outdoors). But when she went outside she got the overpowering sensation of being watched. She returned inside and roused her boyfriend to come out with her. When they got out he too felt the sensation but at the time said he did'nt to comfort her. She went to the bathroom in the toilet which was propped next to a tree. As she was going her boyfriend swears he saw, walking away from the campsite through the brush to the right of the tree, a large(aprrox 6.5-7 ft) man shaped figure, covered in greyish fur, sportign wolflike features and a bushy tail swaying behind it. He was shocked and ran into the tent, leaving his girlfriend, who came running in a moment later after hearing the rustling of the creature.
Throughout the night they, and the others(who awoke during the commotion) stayed awake, continuously thinking they heard the cry in the distance. They never encounterd it again, but left promptly in the morning.
I believe them, however think that most of the sounds they heard afterward were their freaked out immaginations.
