How can Giza be discovered? There is a 100m high structure in the middle of a very big bucket of sand... I don't think that a caravan with camels went by it and didn't notice it... Until one day some explorer walked by and stumbled over the pyramid of Cheops and voila... it was discovered.

The egyptians knew they were there. they were invaded by the Romans who all wanted to score with Cleopatra. And they noticed a large pile of stones. Asked the Egyptians what it was and they told them they were pyramids.
The Romans came back in Europe and told everybody what they had seen... So the pyramids weren't really discovered I think.

one thing I don't understand. it's not that there has been a big gap between building the Pyramids and the next civilization. the greeks existed when the egyptians still were around and so did the Romans. The Greeks even communicated with the Egyptians (see the Rosetta stone).
How is it that nobody really knows what they were for and how they were build? couldn't those Greeks or Romans just ask the Egyptians?

Agreed, not much point in you getting homework if someone else is going to do it for you just because you can't be bothered doing your own research...... I believe the technical term for that would be "cheating"
