As a child I lived in a very active/haunted mansion which I adored. As a child I had many 'friends' who lived in my house with me. I did not know at the time these were spirits. My mother who is also a sensative knew this left me to play with them. She thought that as I was happy and no harm was coming to me to leave me be. I must admit I had great fun!!! My son now is seeing spirit I hope I can be as brave as my mum and just let him be as he is happy about it. Has anyone else had experiences with children seeing spirits jax x

Hi thats fine, the main one was a lady who use to follow my mum around. My mum and dad were the caretakers of this mansion where I use to live. I saw her and played with her many times she use to walk with me in the woodlands. She use to be a maid there during the time when it was owned by Sir fances Drake. I use to call her Holly many other residents there use to see her standing at the door. Our appartment in use to be the old kitchens when it was a stately home. She did not like my mother very much as she felt she was taking over her job! We did look into her background and yes apparently she was a maid but one that served the masters of the house. Her name was holly but we have not managed to get a surname but it was great to verify that there was a maid of that name!!
Could go on all day but would bore the pants off you jax x

Kids are usually said to have "imaginary friends". I think they are not imaginary at all. Kids are more receptive and open. They're not clouded by the what you're supposed to see, not see, think, etc.

Both of my sons told me that at an early age they saw strange things. One night, my youngest told me he saw an entire family in my bedroom (a father, mother and three kids). He described them in detail. Another time, he told me that he had seen a man in the back yard staring into our house through the patio doors. He said he was a young, tall man with black hair wearing a T-shirt with lettering on it, and the shirt was ripped. (My son was 5 at the time. He wasn't wearing a lettered T-shirt so I doubt it was his reflection.) My husband and I became frightened and went out into the back yard to see if we had an intruder. It was nighttime, there was heavy dew/mist on the grass, and there were no depressions or footsteps in the grass except for our own. Of course, my son was frightened by these experiences.

My eldest son told me that he had seen a strange "thing" in our house for several years that had terrified him. He is 16 now, and has always been a very level-headed, common-sense sort of person. (Actually, I can never win an argument with this boy because he is usually right.) When he told me that during the ages of 5-10 he used to see a large, lizard-like thing that used to crawl up and down the walls of our house, I took it seriously. I asked him why he never told me about this when it was going on. He didn't think I would believe him. It frightened him, also. He doesn't see this anymore--or if he does, he won't admit it.

I don't know what to think about these experiences. I believe my children thought these experiences were real. I never said, "You are seeing things." I just told them that what they saw couldn't hurt them.

I believe good spirits wouldn't want to frighten children, and my boys were frightened. So I believe that if these "things" were real, they had a negative intention. This is what frightens me.

Things are peaceful now in our house. I believe in ghosts and spirits, but I don't want them messing with my children. Of course, this is my personal opinion from personal experiences.

If your child is at peace with seeing spirits, and not frightened, I would be supportive but remain cautious. There are so many things we don't understand about the spirit world, and personally, I wouldn't want my child to be a victim of something negative.

The same happened with my niece when she was small.

Her mother went in to the room and my niece was crying (she was young, she wouldn't know anything about ghosts) and she described what the girl that was talking to her was wearing. The "girl" sounded rather old fashioned style wise.

Then, her mother called her friends up to the room, before anything was mentioned to them, some commented on the coldness of the room, and it felt weird. She then explained what my niece said to them.

A rather spooky true story.

I believe that the house I live in now (which is where I've lived all my life) is haunted. When I was younger I had an "imaginary friend" and when I look back I think, what if that was a spirit? When I was younger I would see spirits hanging around my house all the time. All sorts...not just human ones, but animal ones too. I still see them today. I've actually tried to talk to one before...it didnt work out so well. It "ran" off so to speak before I got the chance.
