Madhouse Studios is making a Trigun movie

And Funimation are making their own anime channel... most likely only the US and Canada will get it though. That said, I never really rated Funimation, I think they are one of the poorest western anime companies even though they are a big one. I mean their dubs of Dragon Ball was sheer murder, although they did extremely well I admit on Fruits Basket.

I just heard about a manga called tsubasa:reservoir Chronicle, where Sakura and Shao ran(from card captor sakura) are older, for what i've heard its a good love story, but I don't have more information about it, sooooo... any one knows something?

There's a copy in my library, although I've not read it. And, well it's by CLAMP, so it is bound to be super cute. If I recall right there is s DS game for it coming out in Japan.

Want to bet it'll only be for DISH network? w00t.gif disgust.gif Will it only show their own shows then? I didn't think Dragon Ball was that bad, but I haven't seen it subbed. Dragonball Z was bad because they changed the actors every saga or so.

BTW: Finished watching GITS, and loved it despite it being somewhat slow.

TRC has been out for quite a while now. And just to make things clear, TRC isn't a sequel or continuation of CCS. Completely different story, just some of the same characters with different personalities.

The anime just finished with season 1. (I think..)

The manga's about a year or two old now. The anime series is currently avaliable on fansub.
I've never really shown any interest in it since I'm a devotee of Sakura/Tomoyo's relationship and hate Li intensely for hurting Tomoyo in CCS.

Not really, most of the characters remained the same. It was simply that there were five dubbed versions out there and it was a case of keeping in touch with the same one. Also annoying was that one series would have the best Vegeta and another would have the best Buu.

..... My god! Speak of the devil as I wrote 'and another would' an advert for a DBZ game came on tv wacko.gif

Anyway, the Blue Ocean Canadian dub was my favourite DBZ dub, but Blue Ocean murdered their Dragon Ball and DBGT dubs (I mean MURDERED THEM!). So Funimations US dub was the better DB and DBGT dub, but I really question some of their DBZ voice actors.
The English dub done by a Danish company is pretty bad.

QUOTE

Well its a intense pyschological anime as well as action, so much is devoted to talking about what it means to be human and how are we different from machines etc rather than shooting. SAC has many episodes however, which are just action, in particular one ep when they attack a terrorist group's base in some jungle and the first ep od season 2 when they storm some tower which terrorists have taken over.

QUOTE

Nope, just 2 half-hour long eps, usually shown together on tv to make a single movie. The manga is much bigger (something like 9 or 10 volumes) but the OVA was the only anime made of it.
However, good news is a live action version of it has been in production for about a year now with James Cameron (Terminator, Aliens) at the helm. So it should be something to watch out for, and since Cameron is a good director, should be enjoyable (unlike poor Evangelion, which rumour has it Paul 'I make bad movies for a living' Anderson is going to direct).
Battle Angel is one of the first western live action adaptations of anime to be made. Also on the cards is Evangelion, DBZ, Ninja Scroll and Real Bout High School. But as its the first, its likely further western made movies of anime will live or die by Battle Angel Alita.

I think another series of Battle Angel Alita came out recently, but I've only seen one volume of it. I think it's called Last Order.

I just watched the ones on CN. They would show 20 or so eps every fall, then wait until the next fall to show the rest. Krilian and Vegeta were the most noticeable changes between the sayan (sp?) and namek sagas.
Also I was a good boy and watched GITS in subtitles first. thumbsup.gif

I will now show why I should be recognised as this sites' Anime God;

The first 13 episodes of Dragon Ball (the Pilaf Saga) were dubbed by "FUNimation Studios/Productions, Inc." in 1995 and placed on American television in the early hours of the morning were the show gained very few viewers and was soon dropped.
However, ‘FUNimation’ then moved to the more teenage oreientated DBZ, dubbing both the Saiyan and Namek Sagas. This dub was carried out by Ocean Group Studios in Vancouver Canada. Again the shows were shown far to early and subsequently were dropped.

Not until 1998 did DBZ resurface when Cartoon Network began collecting shows for its new block of teenage aimed cartoons called ‘Toonami’, and over night Dragon Ball became huge. Not only that, but Dragon Ball Z, a Japanese cartoon, becoming acceptable to a large audience of American viewers made way for further importing of anime on a far grander scale.
To meet the new demand for the rest of the series, FUNimation translated the Captain Ginyu, Frieza, Garlic Jr. and Trunks Sagas, only this time using their Texas Studios, and a new set of voice actors.

From the Android Saga onwards, both the Texas Studios and Ocean Group have dubbed DBZ, making two available dubs, of which, Ocean Group’s was exported to other English speaking countries such as Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and England.

There have been a good number of other dubs that I can think of. A Danish company made a bad English dub of the movies to release in the UK. The English voice cast used for the Pilaf saga was different from those used in DBZ, furthermore Blue Ocean went back and dubbed DBGT and re-dubbed all DB, including Pilaf Saga will its DBGT cast (who are AWFUL!). On top of that Harmony Gold dubbed DB movies 1 and 3 back in 1989 before anyone cared about DBZ. Furthermore, yet annother Canadian company has started dubbing DBGT. So there are a number of them. Blue Ocean and Funimation btw have both dubbed the fiurst 3 movies, but only Funimation and the Danish company have dubbed the rest.

So basically if you come from the UK you're likely to have seen the Blue Ocean Dub of all the sagas, except for the Garlic Jr. Saga which was the Texas Fuinimation dub.

If you live in the US you're likely to have seen the Blue Ocean dub of the Saiyan and Namek Sagas and Texas Funimation dub of the rest. However, last year Funimation redubbed the Saiyan and Namek sagas with their Texas voice cast and released them on DVD.

If you've seen DBGT in the UK its Ocean, if you see DB in UK its Ocean. If you seen DBGT in US its Funimation, if you see DB in US its likely to be a combination of both.

And, so that pretty much raps it up.

I know what u mean, but Tomoyo helped him to reach Sakura's heart and speak his true feelings for her, and if in the end Sakura was happy, then Tomoyo was happy too, since Tomoyo would be happy as long as every body else (and especially Sakura) would be happy. I can understand your point of view, maybe there could be another end to the story, but the relationships between the characters were already controversial, just imagine if in the end Sakura would prefer Tomoyo rather then Li. (even tough i have nothing against it, it just could lead to some collateral damage, if u know what i mean...)

Yep, Cardcaptors sucked, i think that from every translation that I had seen before, from every anime that i've seen, that was the crappiest one.

Oh, I must admit I seen far worse voice acting, but the show was horribly cast (since when was sweet gentle Tomoyo a valley girl?!) , then edited it excessively, and the translation had all of 3 lines which were true to the original.

I don't buy that to be honest. It is so obvious that Tomoyo's in love with Sakura from early on. While it is made true she doesn't think she has a chance with her so she steers Sakura in the direction of a suitable male partner (Li), I think she's living in a dream world. She can't turn off her emotions, she'll be hurting inside. Poor Tomoyo. crying.gif

Li had Meilin, he could have left Sakura to Tomoyo crying.gif

In all seriousness they could have had an alternative ending were Sakura and Li do end up with the proper people and not each other. yes.gif Considering how excessive the relationship between Tomoyo and Sakura is I think CLAMP owed the Shoujo-ai fans an ending (even an unofficial one) which was shown. (I mean, by god, they gave the shoujen-ai fans a ton disgust.gif )

CLAMP anime should be remembered to be full of male and female homosexuality (I although I don't quite care about the male ones being.... well a straight male tongue.gif ). However, its a horribly common trend for them to have the males end up together, but sell out with the females, such as having them magically turn straight, their love unrequited or even die.

Samurai 7 did anybody see it, if so should I pursue this as my next series to add to my recently neglected anime collection?
Talon
I've seen episode 1 of the Samurai 7 on a NewType DVD........ it didn't really catch my eye, but that could be because it'll take time to develop.

However, from what I've read about it, it has gotten a lot of positive aclaim from both Japanese and western reviewers.

I think you should look into it.
Super Pancake
I got episode 1 and 2 from a promo disk also, the 1st episode was so so, as well as the 2nd. I hear the reviews are good, but i think the director might have some leeway because he is critically acclaimed and I don't think the japanese would dare speak low of his work.

Talon
I thought it was fantastic myself. Its a romantic comedy. As for the weirdness... well yeah, the story is about a girl moving into a family were its members change into animals of the Chinese Ziodak when hugged by members of the opposite sex. However, a lot of animes have a culture of 'weird' stuff that you just have to take for granted. I mean look at Magic Girl shows. In almost everyone I've seen the characters are a little shocked, but get over it very quickly and ultimately take it in their stride that they are a 'magic girl', far quicker than anyone in real life really would if a talking animal turned up, gave them a magic wand and told them they were needed to fight a war against evil interdimension beings or dangerious magical objects. Anime just has some aspects which after you've seen enough anime you take for granted, but if you haven't seen any you're like 'eh?'.

Well I can give you some sites and instructions to download torrents of anime. Here are two that I often use:

Boxtorrents.com
Animesuki.com

As an extra, you can get the whole season of Bleach (Currently a popular anime) here:

Oh, about Naruto. I watch the subbed episodes every week and they're losing it by every episode. I wouldn't bother watching it after episode 100ish. It just goes downhill from there.

Aside from all that, I just finished watching Fruits Basket dubbed. Suprisingly, it wasn't the disaster I thought it would be. One thing that I didn't like was Tohru making those weird noises in almost every episode. Don't know how to describe it, but she'd do it often after someone apologizes to her. It just gets annoying after a while. But that's about it for me. It didn't lack emotion and I didn't think the voice acting was all that bad. 4.6/5

Yup, she's a girl in the manga, but it's not a spoiler because it doesn't happen in the anime.
So anyways, besides all of that, I just decided that Full Metal Alchemist is the best anime ever made. Period.
Talon
I don't get what the fuss is over Full Metal Alchemist , I admit I've only seen the first 3 eps, but I just didn't see anything to make it as great as its reputation.

I much prefered Mai Hime, again a very overhyped anime, but insanely enjoyable.

Now, Full Metal Panic, there's an anime! Three seasons, all fantastic! Season 3 hasn't been lienced yet, anyone who's interested can still DL it.
Ancient World Wonders
I've never seen FMA. Alotta ppl say it's an great anime. But I'm undecided. I usual watch a few episodes to see if it's worth following. Some anime are worthless like One Piece, but others like Inuyasha and Naruto are actually pretty good with a decent plot.

I missed this, but it's still a spoiler - anime or manga. I have found a lot of people who begin to watch an anime series end up reading the manga later. I've found myself doing this as well. Also, the anime wouldn't be there if there were no manga. So..
Talon
I just wish they'd finish the Anime of Fruits Basket, it only got about half way through the Manga.
Its the same with Negima, it only got abouut a third through the manga before it was cancelled. It was originally due to be 52 eps, but it was cut to 26 because of poor ratings despite the Manga being huge. Everyone I speak to blames it on the Director, who was aweful (the only good thing he did was add a few more Konoka/Setsuna scenes which weren't in the Manga, including one were they kiss thumbsup.gif .... but this was after he cut out an entire arc of the story about their relationship). The first few eps of Negima stick close to the Manga and were funny, but about halfway through the director starts doing his own thing... which just isn't funny... which is quite fatal for a comedy anime.

I must admit I'm not one of these people who screams 'It doesn't follow the manga, its rubbish!'. I judge the anime by its own quality. However, it staggers the mind how the director could make such a watered down show, when basing it on a Manga which is so popular its still running in Japan!
Talon

I hated Gasaraki I must admit. It was so.... dull. But I think that was the point of it, it was trying to be a epic drama rather than action or sci-fi.

You mean Muyo OVA 3? Sure, the Tenchi series has a ton of spin offs. Galaxy Police which features all the tenchi cast in one ep, and Pretty Sammy which has spawned several sereis (most in the style of Card Captor Sakura, but this one looks more like Di Gi Carrot or something). I've also heard Misao and Ramia appear in an episode of the anime Duel. Misao Amano was also taken over to an anime called Battle Programmer Shinare as the second main character.

Oops i forget to talk it's about Fullmetal alchimist on the last episode.

That funny i did some research about Oberth, who did plan for a "spaceship-rocket" here what i found.

Hermann Oberth was born on June 25, 1894 in Nagyszeben, Austria-Hungary (Now known as Sibiu, Romania) (The region was also known as Hermannstadt, Transylvania). He was a German scientist who is considered to be one of the founders of modern astronautics.

The son of a prosperous physician, Oberth studied medicine in Munich, but his education was interrupted by service in the Austro-Hungarian army during World War I. After being wounded in the war, he found time to pursue his studies in astronautics. He performed experiments to simulate weightlessness and worked out a design for a long-range, liquid-propellant rocket that his commanding officer sent to the War Ministry. The design was rejected as a fantasy. After the war Oberth sought a Ph.D. degree at the University of Heidelberg with a dissertation based on his rocket design. It was rejected by the university in 1922, but Oberth partially underwrote publishing expenses, and it appeared as Die Rakete zu den Planetenräumen (1923; "The Rocket into Interplanetary Space"). The book, which explained mathematically how rockets could achieve a speed that would allow them to escape Earth's gravitational pull, gained Oberth widespread recognition.

Until 1922 Oberth was unfamiliar with the work of Robert Goddard in the United States and, until 1925, with that of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky in the Soviet Union. After corresponding with both men, he acknowledged their precedence in deriving the equations associated with space flight. Oberth's "Wege zur Raumschiffahrt" (1929; Ways to Spaceflight) won the first annual Robert Esnault-Pelterie-André Hirsch Prize of 10,000 francs, enabling him to finance his research on liquid-propellant rocket motors. The book anticipated by 30 years the development of electric propulsion and of the ion rocket. In 1931 Oberth received a patent for a liquid-propellant rocket from the Romanian Patent Office, and the first rocket was launched on May 7, 1931, near Berlin.

In 1938 Oberth joined the faculty of the Technical University of Vienna. He became a German citizen in 1940 and in 1941 transferred to the German rocket development centre at Peenemünde, where he worked for Wernher von Braun, his former assistant.
