I've heard that Akira had to be seriously condensed to fit into a watchable movie, i've been trying to get the Manga for a comparison but really it is to expensive.

Yeah, the manga is apparently massive, but I’m never looked at it myself.

QUOTE
Cowboy Bebop, from the little that I have seen of it seems really good, but does the movie follow the series or is it stand alone.

The movie follows the series (as in has the same characters etcs), but it stand alone as well (its plot is not related to the ongoing plot of the series). It’s based between episode 22 and 23 (or there about) and it’s essentially a feature length, high quality episode. It’s very good.

QUOTE
everything "Giant Robo" another old school mecha sci-fi

Giant Robo is the 5th anime I ever saw (the first series I saw) and is without doubt one of the great animes of all time.

They are releasing a remake of it next year.

QUOTE
and look for the "Patlabor" movies ecpecially 1 and 2 very good stuff

I agree Patlabour 1 and 2 are good, there is also 3 and 4 plus a series, but I never saw them

The original Appleseed is also a good anime movie, they also did a remake of it around 2001, but I never saw that one.

Trigun is another good sci-fi, but very comedy orientated, as well as action

QUOTE
Crest of the Stars - I have no clue why I like this show. I've only seen about six episodes and love it for some reason. It's more space opera stuff, but it has a lot of political and military content. Also, I think Lafiel is cute.

I liked Crest of the Stars also, they also released two sequel series completing the story… I never did get around to watching them sad.gif

I seriously hate CG movies with talking animals, but either way, I think it's fairly clear that Penguins are apocalyptic signs of the coming of the Monkey Messiah and the end times of humanity, after which the world will be ruled by lesser primates who have learned how to work computers and post on internet forums.

That future reality is surely bleeding through into our current times already... OOK ph34r.gif

I've never seen the first Kiddy Grade, but this clip you linked makes season 2 out to be action-packed, mecha-containing, and somewhat fanservice-y!
Most likely, I will give it a try! Thanks. tongue.gif

That would be because the first Kiddy Grade was action-packed, mecha-containing, and somewhat fanservice-y! grin2.gif And you should give it a try yes.gif

I've seen up to episode 6 of 'Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny' sub. It has a lot of action, not-so-rare hyper-violent moments, a nice soundtrack (in my opinion,) but the fanservice is ridiculous and almost seems somewhat tasteless at times!

I think it's worth the watch so long as you can tolerate the ridiculous fanservice. thumbsup.gif RIDICULOUS!!

You should, it’s a very good fantasy anime… and Claymores are cool because they are Scottish…as in actual Claymores, not the Claymores in this show

^Thanks for replying! Now I don't have to double-post. grin2.gif
I watched the first 2 episodes (of Claymore) so far. I LOVE how it seems to be moving along rather quickly, yet remains serious and interesting. I'll definitely be getting more. happy.gif

As for Claymore the sword... They're rather big swords, aren't they? I prefer Flammenschwert, a (probably) German sword. ;D

I prefer the Japanese katanas myself

I'm watching Monster Princes now, quite funny. About the Princess of all monsters, lives in a house on a hill with her sidekicks and her monster subjects turn up every episode to kill her as part of a coup... she kills them... her sidekicks die... she revives them... and she waits for the next lot of renegades to try it again tommorrow

I went to best buy on tuesday to pick up the first volume of Haruhi. (They even advertised it in their weekly ad!) I had $50 burning in my wallet, and so I was thinking of getting that and something else. I was actually looking to see if they had a copy of M, but I wasn't surprised when they didn't have it. anyways I then stumbled across Outlaw Star, and being one of my favorite shows that I never finished, I was compelled to get it on the spot.

2 DVDs (8 episodes) < 6 DVDs (26 episodes) I couldn't help it.

Forgive me, goddess Haruhi!

I got up to episode 11 in Code Geass. It's awesome! One of the best ones I've seen. yes.gif

Some things in it:
- Stylish Giant Robots
- CLAMP or CLAMP-esque character looks
- Wars
- Weird Powers (The Geass)
- A cat who shows up sometimes (What? I'm just mentioning things off the top of my head.)
- Pizza Hut!! (yes!)
- Terrorists (but they're GOOD terrorists!)
_______
I love this one. yes.gif ALSO the ending theme is from Ali Project. Bonus points!!

I doubt there will ever be a third season of Big O. The show was a major flop in Japan, and was cancelled after series 1. It was only in the US it made it big and after a lot of presure from Cartoon Network and Bandai that Sunrise, Inc agreed to make the second season. However, the second season didn't do as well in the US as they first season had. Therefore I doubt there will be a third.

However, the director of Big O also did Giant Robo, I'd check it out, its very different from Big 0 (more mechs, but also super-powered warriors fighting over the planet), but its one of the greatest series ever made. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_Robo_%28OVA%29

Please can I ask a favour, judge me all you want I don’t care tongue.gif , but the anime community are voting for our favourite lesbian anime couple and I would encourage all Konoka/Setsuna fans to go vote... obviously Chikane/Himeko fans can vote too... but I'd rather not emphasis on that tongue.gif

Please Please Please Please

Edit: I removed the link now the vote is over in light of lots of pics of girls kissing could be taken as soft porn
Super Pancake
Did it so far Konoka/Setsuna are winning by 2%

LOL at that site my mom just walked in on me, she is giving me that look that are you a pedophile look.
Talon
Thanks grin2.gif grin2.gif grin2.gif

... given how many animes deal with boy-girl high school romances, it would be shockingly hypocritical if girl-girl high school romances like Konoka/Setsuna were counted as well... that... particuarly when in the same series the main male character is 9 years old and has a relationship with a 16 year old girl and nobody blinks twice.

Poor cute animated lesbians don't get a break crying.gif
Talon
Oh my god, Konoka/Setsuna won, and now the fans of the other couple Chikane/Himeko in this yuri forum I got to are going insane, ranting about K/S fans rigging the vote and the result meaning the yuri fandom will be hurt. Do the words 'immature', 'bad loser', 'taking this way to seriously' and 'oh, for frog's sakes' come to mind?

I didn't understand Claymore 10 that much did those four go fight the awakened male to die and I don't know satisfy his lust or something? If so thats messed up!
Talon
It seemed to imply that they were sent to die - maybe a deal the organisation made 'don't rampage around, and every year we'll send you some claymore's to eat'. But it didn[t really go into it. No doubt we'll find out soon.

Claymore btw, is one of the best series of the last few years me thinks.
GreyWeather
I watched Claymore episodes 1 to 10 a couple days ago at a friends house, it seems to have a lot of potential - though the start didn't really show that potential until episode 9 and 10 which is when it really gets started.

I gotta agree with you Talon, this may be the best anime out this year~
