Bella-Angelique
I have not been buying any anime recently, but I did enjoy the Monday night anime on the Sci-Fi channel and plan to watch it every Monday night if it keeps up the stories and same level of quality.

I guess that is true.

Of course I can always use my dad's computer. For sound.

Nope, but it was one of the big shows in Japan last year
MoonPrincess
I don't/didn't watch Eureka Seven. At the time I was just starting to watch "Trinity Blood" & "Bleach." <3
GaarasDemonicPetBunny
most people never watched Eureka 7, even though it is a great anime, and I think they cancelled it on Adult Swim in the US..... I do watch Bleach every day now, and pretty much all anime on Adult Swim, and today Im watchng Toonami on Cartoonnetwork, I cant wait to see Naruto! I absolutely love it! (especially Gaara!)
MoonPrincess
I watch "Naruto" & "Yu-Gi-Oh GX" on Toonami. It's the only shows I'll watch on there. Then I wait for Adult Swim to air. <3
GaarasDemonicPetBunny
wow. I love the original yu-gi-oh, not so much the new one though, but I have always, and still collect yugioh cards, all kinds both new and old. Right now I have a little over 1000 cards. And about 500 pokemon cards, but I no longer collect those unless people give me them.

Eh. "Yu-Gi-Oh" was awsome. <3 So much action. Everywhere you turn. I liked Kaiba the most.

The new one is ok.

I have some cards, but half of them are missing. But I have an Japanese Dark Magician Girl. That my brother got for me.
Talon
Dark Magician Girl..... wub.gif

Personally I hated Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon was fun when I was younger. Right now I'm watching Inu-Yasha, its okay, but very hyped like DBZ. Naruto Hurricane Chronicals is good, but dragging a little. Bleach is stuck in a boring filler about two dead children.

Claymore, Murder Princess, and Monster Princess all rock though
Daxter King
My current favorite is Bleach, I'm glad Adult Swim decided to start over, now I can get into the story. I also watch Inyuasha, Naruto, and YuGiOh-GX.

Up to episode 16 in 'Code Geass' myself. I'm telling you guys, it's great! I haven't seen Adult Swim or anything airing on it in months. =(

I've seen up to ep 24, waiting for the release of eps 25 and 26 to finish it. Really annoying, they left it on a major cliff-hanger and I want the next part!

I've been watching anime since I was like 8 or 10. What really got me into anime was "Sailor Moon." I LOVE Sailor Moon. I just loved it. And it's still my favorite anime ever.
Talon
Ah, I love Sailor Moon myself. seen all of season 1 -3 and a good junk of 4 and 5. Hotaru was my favourite character, and season 3 was the best. Season 4 was the poorest - in my opinion.
Nessieman23
I like the Last EXILE anime, I just finished up the series!
Bleach is good, and so is Death Note! My second favorite anime series is Death Note. AND the Devil May Cry anime looks cool too! .hack is my FAVORITE anime! (roots, and SIGN)

Of the inner senshi I would have to say.... Rei is my favourite.... used to be Ami in season 1 and 2, but by season3 it became Rei. My opinion of Chibiusa changes on whether I watch the dub or the sub, I hate her - and I mean haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate her in the dub - but actually find her quite funny in the sub.

In other news

Season two of Sisters of wellber is out soon, season 1 is quite good, although I've only seen a handful of eps so far

Ask John over in Anime nation answers a really interesting email for anyone who has a lot of money to burn. Personally if I was multi-million with 5 million to burn I would not hesitate to have my own series of books I am writting, all about the anime influenced adventures of a handsome young man called Talon and his assorted cute female companies, turned into a series.

QUOTE
Question:

Would it be possible for an American investor to invest money into the production of an already existing anime? Would a company like Toei or Sunrise be interested in producing an entirely new spin-off of a now concluded series if a foreign investor were to invest around $5 million into the production of the new spin-off, say, for example, a new Dragon Ball movie/series or Inuyasha series/movie? In addition, would Toei be willing to produce new Dragon Ball anime based on my story ideas, considering I'd be the one investing in its production?

Answer:

My answer to this question will be highly hypothetical by necessity. Since nothing like this has ever happened before, there's no precedent to base a theory upon. I also, personally, don't know enough about the psychology or practices of major Japanese entertainment companies and film studios to be able to predict their responses to a totally original proposal.

There have been instances of foreign investors instigating the production of original anime. American comic book publisher Verotik employed Madhouse to create a short Satanika anime pilot. French fashion house Louis Vuitton commissioned Toei to produce the short Superflat Monogram anime film. Foreign investors have also been influential in the creation of anime sequels. For example, the American Cartoon Network was heavily involved in the creation of The Big O II. But I don't recall ever hearing of an anime franchise being entirely revived exclusively as a result of foreign investment. I suspect that foreign investors have never been previously interested in solely sponsoring an anime revival because there are other, more profitable investments available. Anime, after all, is not a highly lucrative business. Anime is, and can be profitable. But anime doesn't generate remotely the profits or return on investment offered by other ventures like the stock exchange, technology start-up businesses, natural resources, or even investing in the creation of video games or live action movies. In the past, investors with money to contribute have looked to other, more lucrative investments than anime. It may be only beginning now, after anime has been established in America for twenty years, that America now has veteran fans wealthy enough and devoted enough to anime to consider investing in anime production for personal, sentimental reasons.

Most investors with five million to spare would probably choose to place their money into a venture with a better financial return than anime production. But if an investor was inclined to put five million into an anime, that amount would probably be enough to largely or fully fund the production of an average single season anime television series, short OVA series, or theatrical motion picture. Furthermore, while I'm not certain that any and every Japanese anime studio would eagerly jump through hoops for such an investment, I'm sure that an American with that amount to spend could find a competent professional Japanese studio willing to accept a commission. The revival of a lapsed franchise, though, may be more difficult to arrange.

Anime that have run their course and died a natural death are usually not revived because there's no longer enough consumer interest to make these titles commercially viable. If such a show was revived as a personal commission, profit wouldn't necessarily be significant. However, in the case of an older franchise, there would still be a myriad of owners and investors that still have a stake in the title. So all of those prior owners and investors would have to agree to allow a franchise revival. Furthermore, the franchise creators would presumably still have influence over the decision. Japanese creators seem to retain more control over their creations than is common in America. In America, a franchise may be revived or redesigned without the consent or approval of the original creator. I'm not as certain that the same is possible in Japan. Manga creators usually allow animators some creative freedom, but original Japanese creators may not always be prepared to completely turn over the development of their characters and stories to an unknown or untested foreigner.

Hey all, dont know much about anime other than I love to watch it although rarely get a chance. Watch adult swim every weeknight but I'm usually out partying saturday so I miss the new episodes of shows I really like.

My favorite to date is probably Full Metal as it's pretty much the show that got me hooked. Also absolutely loved Eureka 7, caught a few episodes when it showed on AS and then just got online and skipped classes for a few days and watched every episode. Also really enjoyed Neon Genesis Evangelion, Trigun, cowboy beebop, Samurai Champloo and especially FLCL even though it was much too short for my needs. as you can see my entire anime experienece stems only from adult swim.

Also forgot to mention Great Teacher Onizuka, watched like the first 50 episodes like 7 years ago but then didnt watch any anime again until about a year ago when I found Full Metal.

Currently watching the Bleach reruns on weeknights as I never caught them on saturday nights, enjoying Tokko on animonday and attempting to get into Blood but for some reason I just dont like it that much even though it seems pretty cool from the few episodes I've caught.

One thing I've always wondered was why the majority of anime characters are western. You would think that them being japanese shows the characters would be japanese right? Just never really understood that.
Super Pancake
^Well a majority anime is modeled after Japanese people and its only a recently in the last 10-15 years animators started modeling there character closer to real looking people, but yeah the Japaneses do have some fascination with the west particularly white blond blue eyed people mostly with girls.

Almost all anime characters are Japanese, that’s why they have Japanese names and the shows are often based in Japan, only a few anime shows actually have westerners as main characters such as Gunsmith Cats, Chrono Crusade, Full Metal Alchemist, Hellsing etc Most such as Card Captor Sakura, Your Under Arrest, Rounoni Kenshin, Inu Yasha, Bleach, Naruto, Fruits Basket, Ghost in the Shell etc etc etc etc have Japanese characters.
Some animes have both, like Tessa, Kurtz, Callahan in Full Metal Panic are stated to be Caucasian, while Sauski is Arab, Mao is Chinese, while Kanami and the rest of the school are Japanese. Similarly in Read or Die, the main character is half-Japanese, but the rest of the cast is all different races from American to English to Japanese to Chinese.

It’s the names that give it away, if they have a Japanese name then they are Japanese unless specifically stated, such as being black or white or something. The simply have big eyes because that’s the preferred style in anime (influenced by Disney) and it looks cute on girls. They often have lighter skin again because of style, although I already read somewhere that pale skin is actually considered most attractive in Japan, but I can't say how accurate that source is.
As for the hair, that’s because of individuality, the entire Japanese race have one phenotype - black hair, brown eyes, as opposed to whites who have blondes, brunettes, red-heads, in addition to black hair. Different coloured hair and eyes is simply to set them apart from each other and make each character stand out. Actually in Japanese youth culture I think it’s not unheard off for teenagers to die their hair just to look different and stand out.

Man the upcoming summer season seems kinda lacking, well I say this for every season hopefully I'm surprised by some of these new shows like I was with claymore, seirei no moribito, gurren lagann, Darker then Black, Bokurano, etc.

out of all of them I'm looking forward too

Baccano, I'll definetly check this one out the source material highly praised

School Days, sounds like a seriously fuxkxd up story if they go with the notorious bad ending

ZOMBIE-LOAN, did somebody say zombies

Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei a guy mistaken to be a girl in an all girl school, potential for great shenaigans too bad it looks like a serious dark anime

Shigurui, man hopefully the animators get this right the manga was kickass epic. Hopefully they can also keep up with the detail of the manga art it's one of the best drawn manga I ever seen.

Buzzer Beater, sounds alright a street bballer from NYC recriuted by the human league to play against aliens from outer space for the championship already better then the crap that is the NBA!

Mushi-uta, I'll probably be hot and bothered all day for every fansub release with this one

Mononoke, I'll probably skip it because i never scene the original anime it spins off from.

Armored Trooper Votoms: Pailsen Files, so watching this can't get enough of mecha anime these days.

I was thinking about buying the Naruto series but was wondering if it is worth it, should I go another series like Bleach?
Neither of these series i'm really knowledge about is Naruto series because I watched an episode on TV and it seemed pretty silly.

I like Naruto cause it is silly lite stuff nothing really spectacular if you liked Dragonball Z, One Piece, Yu YU Hakusho, Inuyasha (Inuyasha being the better overall anime in my opinion) you might like it. I have the same opinion for Bleach.

Same here. I love Naruto. I watch it on CN/Toonami. X3 I've seen almost every episode so far. ^-^
Talon
I liked Naruto up until episode 120 odd and the fillers began. I'm glad the fillers are done now for Hurricane Chronicals, but it feels like they are dragging out every episode as long as possible - that Gara / Deidara fight was outragiously wrong for something that lasted 3 pages in the manga and has practically no action.

Bleach is very good, but again the filler is poor, but its back on the main story now.

I like both Naruto and Bleach, I think both should be watched, but if you hate the filler, don't let it tear your feelings of the series apart, just skip it.

As for silliness, Naruto has a lot of silly parts because I think its aimed at a young-teen audience, Bleach has a lot of comedy as well, but I think its aiming for a slightly older audience.

My personal favourite..... Bleach, but Naruto is a good show.

Neither mind you are the best animes out there, just highly enjoyable ones, just like Dragon Ball Z (enjoyable, but not the best anime on the market, although I think its safe to say both Naruto and Bleach have more substance than DBZ despite being influenced by it).

Wow, lately I have been watching quite a bit of anime, come to think of it (thank you, Youtube and Veoh yes.gif). I'm not big into the large, mainstream anime, although I do occasionally watch InuYasha and FMA. Sooo... Don't get high hopes. But if Firefly taught me anything, buy buy and buy and maybe they'll make a film.
Talon
Some titles I've watched recently;

The anime of Devil May Cry is very good

Hayate no Gotoku is pretty funny, about a teenager butler and his spoiled twelve-year-old mistress

Shigurui - a new samurai anime, very well animated, and to a pure samurai fan it would probably be very good, but I was hoping for a Ninja Scroll type anime, and its far from it. I'm not going to watch any more of this, but for any shogun style movie diehards, might be your thing.
